pro tips for feeding warly:
Don’t try to keep him consistently full. Give him high-fullness meals (Honey Ham, Bacon and Eggs, Turkey Dinner, Meatballs, Dragonpie if you’re hurt, and of course Meaty Stew, in rotation) when he complains about being hungry or you notice his stomach looking shrivelled, but don’t worry about it if his fullness is at half or higher. That way he’s less likely to get bored. Maybe give him something else at the same time to top him up, but just generally space out his meals instead of eating throughout the day.
Carry around some eggs, honey, and only one type of vegetable in your Insulated Pack so you can cook a large variety of meals with the smallest number of inventory slots occupied. Kabobs, Honey Nuggets, and Froggle Bunwiches are good ways to add variety to what would otherwise be a meatball-heavy diet, and honey is an excellent high-stacking, slow-spoiling filler anyway.
Even crappy crockpot recipes are good for a) variety and b) the combination of his buff to crockpot food and debuff to regular food, especially repeated regular food. You’re actually better off turning berries into jam than roasting them and eating the stack; ratatouille is better than eating too many roasted carrots (also superior to making popcorn with stale corn and eating it straight), but padding it with red mushrooms or just making it entirely out of red mushrooms is even better.
Monster Tartare isn’t that great in its own right but it’s a fun novelty after a hound wave or a day spent killing spiders, so I recommend eating it sometimes anyhow. Sweet Potato Souffle and Mussel Bouillabaisse are pretty average dishes but fun to make. Fresh Fruit Crepes are basically the holy grail of crockpot food. Just don’t forget that you have to use his own crockpot for these, I have lost many sweet potatoes that way.
Despite his increasing frustration, you can repeat a crockpot dish a few times before you start to really suffer for it; you’re still getting more out of it than any other character on the first or second repeat. (I still try not to repeat dishes if I don’t have to, but if you eat a couple of the same thing in rapid succession it doesn’t make a big difference.) This doesn’t apply to regular food though; he has pretty poor results with the ol’ “eat a stack of cooked green mushrooms for sanity” trick, for instance.
Don’t cook a bunch of the same crockpot dish in one go. If you save it it’ll go stale and if you eat it all at once he’ll get cranky. (Well, do it if your ingredients are about to spoil, but don’t do it just to make fridge space or whatever.) I am pretty bad at following this advice myself, admittedly; the habit is too ingrained.
Okay so everything I said about raw and cooked-over-a-fire food being bad ceases to apply in DST because now you can’t eat them at all, but you can at least avoid starving to death by eating ratatouille, fistfuls of jam, butter muffins, and kabobs. It’s still a good idea to carry around eggs, honey, and mushrooms/carrots/cactus flesh once you have easy sources of those established.
Cooking a bunch of the same dish at once is less of a concern now, since you can feed it to your friends instead of eating nothing but honey ham for a week.
In DST, Monster Tartare now takes away sanity and health just like Monster Lasagna, but has the same recipe or very similar rather than needing an egg or a vegetable and gives twice as much hunger. This at least explains why every other character except Webber hates it. Fresh Fruit Crepes are about the same, and the other two recipes don’t exist in DST. There’s a bunch of new Warly-exclusive recipes but I don’t know them very well yet. You still have to use Warly’s crockpot to make Warly’s dishes! Don’t put your dragonfruit and pepper salad in a normal crockpot and end up with dragonpie like I did!
Cooked green mushrooms are no longer an option for sanity, and I don’t think jerky is either. If you want to regain sanity from food, you’ll need honey for either Taffy or Pumpkin Cookies, the latter of which are more filling and don’t take off health but do require a pumpkin. Start a nice healthy bee farm, pick a fight with a swarm of wild bees, or risk your neck hammering the Bee Queen’s hive a couple times and hoping she doesn’t emerge before you get some honey splashes, in order of the recklessness level required.
One easy way to get filler ingredients as long as it isn’t winter: Find a field of flowers or make a flower garden, and punch butterflies. If there’s a Wortox around, bring him along on the butterfly-punching so he can collect the souls.
If it is winter, make a golden pickaxe and mine every pengull glacier you see. Now you can use ice as a filler instead of butterflies.
Learn to use a boomerang on birds. They drop a morsel half the time, opening many meat-based paths. Don’t stand in a cluttered area when you’re chucking the boomerang around, and start holding the spacebar down as soon as it hits your target mob. If your connection or your reflexes are still too slow to avoid hitting yourself in the face, use an ice staff to freeze birds in one hit and then attack them with a melee weapon; an axe or pickaxe will kill them immediately.
Similarly, moleworms can be baited by dropping any mineral item on the ground and then you can attack them with a melee weapon while they’re sniffing at a piece of flint, and they always drop morsels. You can also hit live ones with a hammer and boil them alive with cactus or stone fruit and some veggie fillers for guacamole, though that always kinda wigs me out.
Wormwood is your new best friend because they can cover your base in a variety of fruits and vegetables virtually for free. Their bramble suit also allows you, them, or anyone else on the server to go pick every cactus in the desert without a scratch, and cacti are plentiful and grow back fairly fast in any season.
Never leave the base without your crockpot! It is your best friend, your saviour, your other half! You will probably starve if you run out of food without it while you’re far from a base.

Warren Goodyear, Don’t Starve OC
Warren’s stomach had been empty for so long. It was the dead of Winter and he couldn’t find a single Rabbit through the thick blanket of snow. Thankfully he had been keeping his fire strong and his Thermal Stone warmed, so he didn’t have to worry about freezing to death. His stomach growled as loud as the fire roaring in front of him.
What he did have to worry about, however, was the beginning of a headache forming around his head. A tension headache. He used to get them a lot, and it seems they’ve returned since his arrival in the Constant. Clutching the side of his head, Warren focused on the dancing fire in front of him. Night was falling quickly -there wasn’t much daylight in the Winter- and it was one of the only light sources he could rely on.
As he began to drift off he was sure he could see something scurry in the darkness. He squinted, but couldn’t make anything out. It was faster than a rabbit, and twitched and jerked just far enough that it was blurry and shapeless. The pulsing on his brain grew stronger the more he tried to look and he closed his eyes and hissed at the pain.
He needed sleep. He needed food. He needed this goddamn headache to go away. He felt the fire’s warmth fading slowly as the fire died down, but caught up in his own thoughts and discomforts he could do no more than toss a measly stick towards it and hope it landed. Warren exhaled slowly through his nose and then curled up in front of the dying fire, watching the twisting figure inch closer to him through half-lidded eyes.

Maxwell dump (with a few Charlies)Â
I never draw Maxwell the same way twice. It’s a problem, but to be fair, even in the source material he varies a lot. It’s just a matter of finding appealing proportions, but I can’t decide what those are. I also kind of cheat by giving him loose “sclera” around his dot eyes.Â
