The adult version of coco here looks like cloak is very similar to Qifrey’s. It would be interesting if that was intentional and by the end of the series Qifrey is no longer a Witch.

Additionally, there has been the recurring idea of the giver that has to pass something on before they go.

The sliverroot story of the Sliverroot maiden passing on the gift of magic, before (presumably) turning into a sliverroot tree. It is a very direct parallel that begins the cycle or the giver and the receiver.

Then there is Dagda, who learnt music from a woman with the same background as him. The idea of passing on what one has learnt before they go to improve the future is mentioned. Which then after Dagda teaches Custas the ways of the minstrel, but then he soon passes away.

Then in one of the recent chapters Qifrey refers to himself as “the giver.” I think the implications of the recent chapters might be the he will become a tree, but I really hope not. I remember when I told my partner about Qifrey’s whole tree thing, he said “It’s lovely that he has such a will to live.” I agree with that. Even if it was part of the promise to Olruggio, he still continues to do it because he wants to continue living. I think that idea of it’s better to live with guilt and shame than to not live at all.

In chapter 86 when Qifrey gives Coco the memory erasing spell to save Custas, I heard someone say that the fact the had it pre-drawn means he intended to use it on himself in he were to turn. Which I quite like. The idea that Qifrey is determined to stay human that he’d have all his memories erased entirely again.

Maybe it’ll be that his memories will get erased (though I hope they can remove the sliver root curse once and for all afterwards) or that he just gave her his cloak.

Spoilers for chapter 96 of Witch hat atelier -

The confrontation or whatever between Hieheart being done so incrementally, that it gets more really excited/nervous of what is going to happen. I’m thinking either Hieheart may of caught onto Qifrey’s connection to the sliverroot incident with Custas that happened in Ezrest. Maybe he is there is fight Qifrey for the hand of Olruggio?
