Impa nodded once. “Excellent.” That she had a council at her behest helped matters. “I will wait as long as you require for you to prepare.”
She took several steps backwards, then, and hesitated. The conversation with the council would take time, and perhaps her own presence, but the meeting couldn’t necessarily happen right this second. “That said…would you like to resume your training, Your Highness?”
A mental note was immediately made, and tacked onto the fore front of Hilda’s mind. In the morning, when the next council meeting would gather, she would tell those in attendance of her next departure. Packing could be done tonight and tomorrow, so in a matter of days, Hilda could be ready to travel. The more convenient for Impa, the better.
She blinked at the offer. Her… training? Oh yes– the Sheikah warrior had been trying to teach Hilda some self defense. Familiarize her with weapons. So far they had only really touched on archery– thought Hilda was certainly NOT a natural with it.
“Ah, yes, the training. I’d be more than happy to, though… er. I’m not exactly dressed for it–” she glanced down at the day dress she had worn. “But that only make the lesson more practical, right? Might not be prepared if things should go awry… So yes. What would the next lesson be? Back to the bow, or did you have something else in mind?”
Impa stood upright and thought about it--thought about letting her change, at least into more suitable shoes. But, she was correct before she had the opportunity; she wouldn’t always be battle-ready. Impa supposed that if she wanted to get used to her silks getting dirty, now would be the time.
“Let’s transition to something else. But first, we’ll practice weapons swapping.”
Impa borrowed the bow to demonstrate the maneuver. She pulled the string taut, aiming arrow-less. Then, abruptly, she dropped the bow and drew her knife in one smooth flourish. She blocked an invisible foe and stopped. “It’s harder than it looks--the motion forces your focus and field of vision to change in the blink of an eye. You mustn’t become dizzy besides.”
She returned the bow. “While you aim an arrow, see if you can see me coming out of the corner of your eye. We’ll start there.”
“Why ask when I have the opportunity to search on my own? Even if I do not reach my goal on my own, I still can take in the knowledge the books here provide me and put them to use…” Sure, the book in his hands was of no use to him at the moment, but he knew for certain that the other books would be most beneficial in time. For what? He didn’t know. But he did know they would be- even if it was to pass the days away and chase away boredom.
Slowly, he stood up, replaced the book on the shelf, and looked down at the shelves lined with books almost longingly before he pulled his gaze away to stride over to the tall Sheikah and await her orders.
He didn’t like asking for things… it hurt his pride, but sometimes asking did have its benefits… he supposed. “Do they rest in your residency?”
Impa checked both his hands (though it seemed he had indeed replaced the book) and nodded. “A section of my room, yes. I have a personal collection.”
She smiled. “This is why you ask--I would hope you don’t go searching ‘on your own’ there.” As she spoke, she strode to the door and held it open. When everyone had left, she shut and barred it locked behind her. She half had the mind to tell him consider himself lucky; not many people gained the clearance he would (temporarily) gain. But, she held her tongue. She sensed he wouldn’t respect such accomplishments.
“We should still be quick,” she went on. “I can handle inquiries, but I would prefer few all the same.”

Phew! Here it is folks, cobbled together from two weeks worth of free time. I don’t really know what to say, so I’ll just hope it’s as fun to read and look thru as it was to make.
