The whole "if your therapist tells you that using fiction as a way to cope is healthy, they're bad!!!" is so funny to me because that's literally all therapists. Not all of them will recommend using fiction as a tool to cope, but they know that it is a great coping mechanism.

It's actually disheartening to watch kids think they know more than people with whole degrees.

Psychologists/therapists have years upon years of incredibly expensive and rather in-depth education and training. Any highschooler who thinks they know more than them need to get off their high horse. I doubt most of them have ever even taken a psychology-centric course in their lifetimes.

i believe that it's very close-minded how you're assuming that someone has an "incest fetish" if they ship fictional characters. there's a difference between shipping something and having a fetish. that's like saying a straight person who ships a gay ship has a gay fetish

also, "it's weird" is an opinion, not a fact. youre allowed to have your opinions, of course, but it's not com/darkshippers' responsibility to curate your experience

the great thing about tumblr is you can block any tag youd like, and you wont see any of that content (if it's tagged correctly)!! everyone is allowed on the internet- and as long as theyre not doing anything illegal or hurtful, then i dont see an issue

all i ask is if you come across a tagged proship post like mine, or a tagged com/darkship post, that you look at the tags and block them. it'll make everyone's internet experience far more enjoyable

again, youre allowed to think it's weird. i think a lot of things that com/darkshippers write about is weird. just know that harassing them isnt the best method to get your point across

you can write about murder without being into murder sexually- this is the same concept. talking about uncomfortable and taboo media is important, whether you believe it or not. and there are ways to do it that arent sexualized. there's more nuance than "incest bad never portray it!!!!"

your friendly reminder that being proship, at its core, is being anti-harassment and anti-censorship.

if you call yourself a proshipper while harassing others for what they ship, you are a part of the problem that the term "proship" is trying to minimize.

i know that interacting with antis can be exhausting. believe me, ive been there. always remember that you dont need to interact with anyone on the internet. if you are uncomfortable, you have every right to block that person.

please, fellow proshippers- do not step down to the level of antis. do not harass others. not for what they ship, not for their opinions, not for their taste in fiction. if you think they are genuinely doing harm, report them.
