Hannibal and Bedelia don’t match clothes

In a season three poster, we see that Hannibal and Bedelia are wearing clothes that match both of them have a sort of cool dark blue tone. And the detailing on Bedelia’s dress sort of matches the subtle pattern on Hannibal’s suit

But in season three episode one when we actually see the scene where Hannibal and Bedelia dance and Bedelia is wearing the same dress, they don’t match with Hannibal at all. No, I wouldn’t mind them not matching perfectly if Hannibal were wearing like a black tux or a simple dark blue suit without a pattern.

But the burgundy suit is wearing doesn’t just not match Bedelia’s dress it clashes with it very noticeably.

Now if it were anyone other than Hannibal I wouldn’t bat an eye but Hannibal is a very particular man especially in regards to what he wears.

Besides, as we all know nothing in the series is accidental. Nothing.

So the way I see it is that it serves to show that Hannibal and Bedelia aren’t a pair. They don’t match. They don’t fit. They are curious about one another, they tolerate, maybe even like, each other’s company, but they aren’t connected. Not the way Will and Hannibal are.

Hannibal and Bedelia’s proximity is forced. It doesn’t come naturally to either of them. They don’t compliment each other they don’t belong with each other. They clash. And both of them know that what they have cannot end well. The only reason Bedelia escapes with her life is because Will enters Hannibal‘s life again.
