Needed less slurs, less potential queer baiting, less bad relationships where a teenager dates his grandfathers ex girlfriend. Anyone remember that moment in the last book where Enoch supposedly gets really injured but then is basically just fine? That was odd. The prophecy was bad and barely a prophecy, would have been better to make use of Horace’s ability more in regards to that. Honestly the series needed less Jacob, he was kinda boring. Abe was kinda a d*ck, eh? Wish we got to see more detail on that. I would have loved to see more into the peculiar circus culture, and hear about Emma’s part in that, or maybe see the kids join in for a bit while they recoup from being chased by the wights once they get to mainland Wales. Enoch seemed at multiple points to like, not have a survival instinct, like he doesn’t duck when the land mines go off and Jacob pulls him down, and I always thought, is Enoch less likely to die as a result of his peculiarity? Or does he just have no sense of self preservation? Bronwyn needed more character development aside form just being strong, sad, and a miniature mom to Claire and Olive. I need Hugh, Millard, and Enoch to have weird brother-y moments. The series is named after her but we don’t get enough Miss Peregrine. Would be great to have her backstory more out together, especially considering her own brothers. Speaking of backstories, what went on in Enoch’s first loop? Was it raided by wights, did he decide to leave for whatever reason? And Hugh and Fiona are older than Enoch, considering they’re from the Irish potato famine, which means that they would have had to been in another loop before Miss Peregrines as well. I feel like we just breeze over Bronwyn killing her step father, i feel like that should have been explored more. Victor would also be nice to learn about, infusing his implied friendship with Enoch. Would have been nice to have some actual lgbt characters, peculiar views on such could be interesting as they formed their cultures separately from regular people and could have been accepting form the beginning or something. The last couple books seemed rushed and not well planned out. So the ymbryne’s really do just like print money right? To keep the loops working right, or are they like using clairvoyant kids to tell them how to invest? Would have been cool to see old peculiar language, or other peculiar languages, OR old-old peculiar language be brought in more, and have some of the kids able to read it to some degree, like the ones that would have been in older loops. It was kind of hinted that Sharon would go against the ymbrynes, right? That could have been delved into, maybe the ymbrynes in power were corrupt and a revolution against them did need to happen, maybe even Miss Peregrine could fight them.
