How does this impact pro ED?

It means that by reblogging thinspo and pro-starvation phrases, you are more likely to believe that what you are doing is normal, and that eating disorders are normal and okay, rather than deadly ways to deal with chemical imbalances. It is proof that tagging your stuff “pro Ana” and “pro mia” and “starvation diet” is dangerous because it reinforces a dangerous idea, and reinforces that eating disorders and blogging this type of content are solutions, when instead they are problematic as well as deadly. It further proves how dangerous the culture of pro ED is. If you’re repeating it, you’re likely believing it.

I want you to think real long and hard about this. You’re giving tips on how to KILL someone’s body. Anorexia and bulimia kill. You won’t be that beautiful thin girl, you will be a peach fuzzed, malnourished, cold barely alive body with a tube through your nose because your stomach won’t take anything in. You won’t have that “anorexia” buddy, it’s therapists and nurses and doctors surrounding you everyday monitoring your health. It’s not beautiful, it’s not pretty. Fucking stop teaching this shit, you’re going to fucking kill someone.

Further proof that reporting pro-ana content and getting it deleted has a lot to do with whoever is in charge of the ticket queue that day:

After reporting a few dozen “meanspo” posts last week, I got a flood of “we checked out your report” emails, and almost none of them had been deleted. I had to respond to all of them individually and argue for their deletion.

Yesterday, I reported a bunch more, and I just got the response emails - they were all deleted. They were all similar, sometimes basically identical posts - it just seems that the batch that went in a few weeks ago got approved while the batch I sent yesterday went to someone who thought the content merited removal.

APAC warriors - keep reporting posts! Especially “meanspo” posts that qualify as hateful or malicious speech. Tumblr seems to be taking those seriously, even if it takes a few tries.

My ed destroyed my bones

So I have had a few messages from you guys about my health… recently I enquired about what causes my chronic hip pain and it turns out I have early onset osteoporosis as well as a lack of blood circulating my bones. Thats on top of my heart arrhythmia and amenorrhoea going on after I became what is clinically described as a healthy weight a year ago after my ed.

Why am I sharing this with you guys? Because I didn’t think I was “sick enough” to deserve recovery, but I was sick. Sometimes you don’t realise how much you need recovery until you’ve started getting healthier. I am going to get through this and I’m so glad I managed to defeat my ed before it gets any worse. 

Imma go drink shit loads of milk and all of the calcium I can now.
