IronHawk number 81.“Sweet dreams.”
If you’d ask Tony, he’d say that he was a happy man. Not because he was richer than god, not because he was famous and well-known everywhere, not because he was Iron Man, a hero and an Avenger, no, Tony was a happy man because he had found the love of his life.
He had never expected it, not with his past, but it happened and for two years he was together with Clint Barton now. Clint completed him in a way no one before ever had. And Tony… Tony was happy.
He smiled, when he walked down the stairs to the kitchen. He just got up and found the bed beside him empty but he knew that Clint went for a jog every morning. But he should be back by now and when he entered the kitchen he saw him standing at the stove. He wore only sweatpants. No shoes, no shirt, nothing else and music blared through the room.
Tony frowned a bit but then he went over to Clint, who sang along to the song. He put his arms around his waist from behind and could smell shower gel and shampoo.
“Sweet dreams? Really?” He said. Clint turned around, a broad smile on his lips and he leaned in and kissed Tony. He could taste coffee and toothpaste and bacon and even if it was weird he loved it.
“The song’s a classic,” he said then. “One of three really good eighties songs.”
“There were many awesome songs in the eighties,” Tony said and moved a bit so he could look around Clint. He had a bowl with batter in front of him and just made waffles with bacon. Tony loved them. He tried to snatch one of them but Clint’s reflexes were fast and he grabbed Tony’s hand.
“Nope,” he said. “To both of it.”
“Why can’t I have a waffle?” Tony complained and Clint kissed his nose.
“Because we’re gonna eat them on the deck in a few minutes,” Clint said and opened the waffle maker. It smelled so alluring his mouth was watering.
“Yep,” Clint said and nodded earnestly now. “‘Sweet dreams’, ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ and ‘Safety dance’.”
“Really? Tony said again. “Wow. What about ‘Don’t stop believin’’? What about ‘Sweet Child o’mine’? What about ‘Under Pressure’?”
“No, these are timeless classics, but what I mean are those typical eighties songs, you know,” Clint said and poured more batter in the waffle maker. Tony licked his lips and his stomach started to rumble.
“I like Annie Lennox,” Tony said then. “I met her once,” he added then.
“You met her?” Clint cocked his head.
“Yeah,” Tony nodded. “She was on one of the Stark charity events my mom organized regularly.”
“Cool,” Clint said and opened the waffle maker and took out two perfect waffles. Tony’s stomach rumbled louder. “Okay, take two mugs and the coffee pot, I’ll bring the waffles and then you can tell me everything about your encounter with Annie Lennox.”
Tony smiled and kissed Clint again but then he let go of him to fetch mugs and the coffee pot. He couldn’t stop smiling when he followed Clint up to the deck. Yes, Tony Stark was a really, really happy man. And the reason was the man in front of him who made bacon waffles for him just because he loved him.
