So long and thanks for all the likes!
It’s strange to think that Fuck Yeah Neil Oliver started back in October 2011, because a lot has happened since then. What began as sporadic posting became a daily thing (not to mention the themed weeks!) and our popularity culminated in FYNO being mentioned on Australian morning television.
Neil Oliver himself has become far more prolific and world-renowned since 2011, now dabbling in writing novels - and taking Coast to the Southern Hemisphere. It was a great challenge to hunt down and screencap everything he appeared in, even the most obscure things.
I (Caz) was delighted to attend a talk he gave in Sydney and enjoyed meeting other FYNOers who I am still friends with to this day. Neil Oliver also inspired me to visit the Red Sands sea fort (part of the Maunsell sea forts), chartering the same vessel that he and his crew used to film the fort for an episode of Coast. A once in a lifetime opportunity, one I will treasure forever.
Sam, your current mod, has done a wonderful job of holding the reins over the past 3 years when I was unable and it’s thanks to her that FYNO continued to flourish. Thanks for all the effort you put into this blog, Sam. :)
And thanks to our readers for making all the hard work worth it. The likes, the reblogs, the asks, the intrigue about Neil Oliver’s bracelets - this community is what made FYNO so much fun.
And lastly, a big thanks to Neil Oliver for bringing his windswept enthusiasm to our small screens. :)
