I know exactly how it feels, I’ve waited and hoped in vain as his title ate my father day after day, I watched him try to do everything and fail. I’m failing as well. Prom suffers just like I did, and I can’t forgive myself for this. But I can make up for it. I take the time now. I don’t care if it’s okay or what I should be doing. He matters the most. I need him. We steal an hour and hide away in the gardens. We elope for a day, we drive fast, take a hike, and watch the sunset. We make love under the stars, forget everything that isn’t us and get scolded when we go back.  Even that feels good. We’re kids. Getting caught and happily doing it all again. We regret nothing.
