IT'S A BIRTHDAY POST! Many Happy Returns to Mr Bathurst!

Once again, thank you for all the years of sterling performances on stage and screen, laughter, tears, witty interviews, a shitload of dressing gowns and silky pyjamas, costume dramas (you finally got your wish!), adding poetry to your bow, handcuffs and now dog leashes, fighting off meerkats, having your own whiskers, saying 'Toast' and 'Sugartits' in the most marvelous way possible, having Hermione Norris scream at you, dramatic deaths (... that toll went up just a bit more, didn't it?), following Poirot around, characters you love to hate, Really Nice Guys, complete bastards, morally dubious fellows, that time you bared all, velvet-toned voiceovers, being gracious to fans, and generally being an amazing actor, adoring father, and one of the most urbane, erudite, nicest, charming chaps anyone could ever hope to meet. I can see you blushing from here.

TV NEWSOSITY!

Hurrah, for Robert will be starring in a new comedy pilot. And reuniting with Hermione Norris (Cold Feet, Get Well Soon, Kingdom) and Matthew Horne (Roman's Empire) while he's at it.To quote:

Hermione Norris and Mathew Horne have joined the cast of Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death.

They join Ashley Jensen in Sky1's upcoming crime drama, which will air at Christmas.

Norris will star as long-suffering housewife Jo Cummings, while Horne will play Agatha's former assistant Roy.

Meanwhile, Robert Bathurst will play Andy Cummings, Katy Wix will star as Gemma, and Jamie Glover has joined the cast as James, a love interest for Agatha.

Jason Barnett and Matt McCooey will appear as Di Wilkes and DC Bill Wong.

The drama is described as "contemporary and quirky", and is based on the Mc Beaton novel series.

It follows Agatha, a PR whizz who gives up her life in London to move to the seemingly tranquil village of Carsley, but soon finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery.
