Are u a US based sociology page ?

Given that current output is nil, its arguably based in the same place as all the other stuff I start and then don't keep up with.

I'm a sophomore in HS, and am looking at colleges(parents want me to get a head-start), Currently St. Francis College, is my #1 choice. Currently for major options I'm looking at.. Majoring in Sociology and minoring in Marketing, or a double major in Sociology and Public Relations. I need job options for the future, could you give me like a list possibly of good jobs in those fields?

A bit of googling will yield a lot of articles, lists, and discussions on jobs you can be aiming for with those degrees.

for the board of sociologists, something to tell the difference between the new right and functionalism would be awesome, i always get the two mixed up, especially the 1950s american lot. durkheim and parsons are the only two functionalists i can ever remember ><

Hi, it would be nice to have find function on the blog, or maybe I just don't find it. I was searching something to illustrate undergraduates about the role of theory in sociological enterprise. not particular theory, but theory on general. thanks. keep up the good work!

The thing I tend to tell people when they ask about my major is that these days, NO degree is going to guarantee you a job, so I chose one that I know I enjoy and can excel at. I've spoken to too many grads who have told me that a major you hate is probably a major you won't complete.

Precisely! Which is why I majored in Sociology, and just thought about what I might want to do with it along the way.

aahvaaaina & drinkyshrink: That depends... how are the two of you with polyamory?

tinosouffle: My feelings are sort of... mostly sadness. I wish I could feel okay with the story writing of late, but I'm not. In fact, the plots and storylines are leaving me indifferent. And while I'm pretty happy about Charlie, she doesn't make up for the amout of queer baiting in the show, from the writers and actors, and within the fandom. It makes me very unhappy as a big queer sheep. I'm mostly just watching now out of an emotional attachment that I can't shake, rather than genuine love. Season gr8, woo.

I think it's important to distinguish between gender roles - women serve dinner - and gendered actions - a woman serving dinner. Gender roles are oppression, gendered actions can't be assessed without context.

Yes, there did seem to be a mix up with the terminology.

I believe the previous anon was quoting 'gender roles' when what the original quote intended was 'binary gender identity'?
