I originally was not going to say anything on this but got to thinking and decided to.
What happened yesterday (or two days ago depending on your time zone) frightened me. As more details came out, I know he wasn't on Skid Row but he was still in an unsafe part of town with a person that I think is incredibly sketchy.
Addiction is an ugly, ugly, awful mistress. You can be clean for years and suddenly slip up. It happens, I know that. And while many people say "well he should call his sponsor" I have to tell you, it is not always that easy.
I know that Z has struggled with this for SO LONG but I wish that he would just seek some serious help. Of course the problem with that is that if he doesn't want help, it won't work. And as more of this kind of stuff happens, it is going to be harder for him to get roles because he becomes an insurance liability.
As someone who has seen first hand the pain and destruction that addiction causes, I'm deeply saddened and I'm also very afraid. I fear that one day I'll wake up and find out he died of an overdose, or be out with friends after a night out and read it on twitter like I did with Cory Montieth.
I know that no one connected to Zac reads this blog but on the off chance it somehow reaches them, please, Zac, get help. Step back from the lime light for a bit. Go to rehab for 6 months, live in a sober house, move back to SLO, get out of Hollywood for some time. This is not just about your career anymore, this is about your LIFE.
I believe he's trying to get better, I really do. But I also know that since the majority of his friends were kind of horrible (and possibly enablers) that he has since cut out of his life, he gets lonely. And when you're lonely, you aren't always in the best place mentally.
Recovery is an on-going, every day of your life process. An alcoholic will always be an alcoholic, an addict will always be an addict..even 20 years after their last drink or hit.
This is all I have to say right now.
