Hello PERVERT ❣️
Eight asks and we haven’t gotten a bingo yet. I wasn’t aiming for it but it’s pretty impressive!
Asks are OPEN!!!
A bit wacky is taken!
The rest are up for grabs. Im surprised nobody has taken jealous. Yknow, we are in the proto yandere fandom! What’s the problem with you guys lmaoooo
new compliment just dropped
i love phantom of the opera so much i had to put them in miami so they can be insane in a different way. no one had ever done it, i wanted to read it, so i had to be the one to write it 🥰
There are many people who don’t share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it could’ve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think there’s a difference between “the author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easy” and “the author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medal”
it's the opposite of sanding off the serial numbers. like you really invented a brand-new AU just to put your blorbos in. you built an entire world just for them to play in. it's like rat park but for blorbos. i love you so much i invented whole new situations just for you. beautiful
my deepest darkest fantasy is that i get out of my pulse at masquerade nyc and am pulled aside by a butler. they tell me i was the perfect audience member. they say they've never seen someone so normal. they give me an A+ in audience participation and commend my incredibly natural behavior. the crowd cheers. obama is there,

IT’S LITERALLY HAPPENING LMAOOOOO
Idk if I can word this right, but I believe in the context of the musical specifically, aside from being moved by her kiss and realizing how fucked up his actions were, a subconscious part of why Erik lets Christine go at the end is because the kiss drives home that he is not ready for what they have to be real. He was probably most comfortable coaching her from behind her mirror then going back to his lair and playing house with her dummy.
MOTN was probably him at his happiest, and notice Christine doesn't say a single word. She is completely in his thrall and goes where he leads her, does what he tells her. Although I agree with folks who say Raoul should have a solo of his own, I do find it telling that every time he's with Christine he sings with her, not at her. As sexy and moving as MOTN is, Erik is the one in control; Christine really is nothing more than the dummy he possesses with his own longing in that scene.
When Christine forces him to confront her reality by actually giving him what he's been begging for all this time, physical affection, he basically short circuits. To accept that he'd have to accept her as a whole person; he'd have to accept himself. And he knows deep in his bones he's not ready for that. He's lived life too long in a masquerade. So even though, I think, this is the first time he genuinely feels love for her and not just infatuation and obsession, he knows he can't be the partner she really needs even if she did feel that way about him. It's never been about all she asks of him but the other way around.
I like to think after the musical Erik is able to move on and learn to love himself then eventually someone else. But there was always too much fantasy and projection tied up in his feelings for Christine and her breaking through all that and showing him what a relationship could really be broke him out of his trance and made him realize, nope, he couldn't do that. Not yet.
fun fact about character development by the way. you can make them develop worse.
like I mean this very seriously as writing advice. the character should experience events and make decisions that make them different at the end of the story. they should be changed. they do not have to be improved.
they can get worse. they can make decisions of an increasingly terrible nature. they can stop taking risks on kindness. they can discover how much they can get away with. they can find religion, or abandon it, with negative effects on their moral creed. the character has to develop. the character does not have to grow.
now is all we get
