Each spore that floated in the air served different purposes as to how they functioned. Some would help sense the various objects and beings around its general area, where as others would help spread the growth of Mykitas as they fell to the ground, seeding it with fungi. All of them were capable of breaking down organic and inorganic matter alike. They could even detect various energy and heat signatures, to locate potential prey, serve as an advanced long-range warning system, and track “sounds” that were unable to be heard by humans. Natural evolution and radioactive mutation combined to form a super-fungi unlike any other in history, giving not only powers, but the gift of sentience…
Mykitas “heard” the sound of buzzing, like that of a tinny radio being played through distorted, blown-out speakers, and became still, determining its direction. Its eyes rolled in their sockets, body turning towards the post, head peeking upwards to stare at it. Something was there, something to investigate and find in this strange new world. Even though it would need to feed, it would rather feed off of the more common creatures skulking about, the humans seeming too little in number. But this was something else, not like the mechanical dragon, nor was it the Paladin of the Cosmos.
Both twisted legs moved its body forward, its tail swaying just behind it. Mykitas hissed quietly as both of its arms carried themselves upward, ready to climb the structure if need be. White glowing eyes, mixed with the red glow of fungi, produced an eerie, monstrous sight to any mortal. For it was of many minds, but in one body, a collective of voices that agreed and disagreed alike. For it was Mykitas, Herald of Fungus, the God of Fungi
“It’s getting closer. That’s all I know– it just showed up.”
“Better take the chance. Argos-4, you are authorised to open fire whenever you see fit. We’ll be there as soon as we can.”
The woman took a breath, and pointed the Gripen’s gun towards the creature, being sure to make it as clear as possible; a warning.
