Her design is already separate from Isabella, people are not having a bad time distinguishing them cuz they are similar but because of plain old racism. White characters have been similar design for decades but two dark-skins girls with similar palette and its too much ?
What does Isabella and Asha have in common ?
Hair ? I brought up that long braids and straight hair are not the same to remove that similarity. There's no need to change it up to make them different because they already are different. One has braids, one doesn't. I'm not against an hair change but there's not an important needs to.
Silhouette ? Well lets black them out. I made it so its a bit rough. Isabella is from promotional image and a cut board ,i think, and asha is from the concept art.
You can see Asha has braid while Isabella has straight and more voluminous hair. Their dress are different too so if they both dance you could tell them apart. Also pose are part of silhouette and character design because they convey their personality and story. You wont see cinderella lifting her hand up to make magic and you wont see elsa lift her dress to walk/dance gallantly. Isabella pose are uniquely hers and idk who Asha is yet but you can still see her personality shine through her concept. She seems calm or compose and dreamy.
Dress now. Yes they are both purple but still distinct from each other. Isabella's is brighter with more frills and flowers everywhere while Asha is darker with more geometrical pattern and huge part of the dress is simple and unicolor
I don't think I need to explain how clothes convey personality
Why do they have in common now ? Purple and darkskin ? They don't even have the same face when they are both from thecopypasteeverygirlfacedisney studio.
Her design is separate from her hair, pose attitude/personality, dress form/style and face but because they are both dark-skinned, its not enough apparently.
I saw the same stuff happen with g3 cleo and shera mermista. Calling her a copy because they are both brown with blue hair as if there's an oversaturation of them.
With more and more diverse representation, people are going to have similar palette, body, story, everything. If we have put up with the skinny white short brown hair nerd for decades we can do the same with Isabella and Asha.
