Scackson Week Day One: Beginnings
Scott had to admit that sitting on the bench had its perks. He didn’t have asthma attacks when he didn’t play lacrosse. He got to talk to Stiles during practice since Stiles just sucked at the sport anyways. And, he got to watch Jackson Whittemore as he played.
He knew that Jackson probably didn’t even know who he was. That was something Scott and Stiles had in common; they both crushed on the most popular kid in school and they didn’t even know they existed. Stiles would spend hours upon hours talking about Lydia. It had gotten tiresome. Scott however, never mentioned his crush on Jackson. It was never going to go anywhere, so why should he obsess over the guy.
When Scott saw Jackson bump into a guy in the hall and demand that the poor kid apologize, he became ashamed of his feelings. Jackson was a jerk, so why did Scott like him? Stiles didn’t seem fazed that he was infatuated with Lydia, who was catty and bitchy. Scott wasn’t sure if he wished he could have that cognitive dissonance or not.
He was alone when Danny approached him. He had a smooth smile and kind eyes. “Hey Scott. You got a sec?”
Danny took his phone out of his pocket. “Lydia is having a party this Saturday and Jackson wanted me to invite you.” He turned the phone so that Scott could see the screen, then placed it in Scotts hand. “Give me your number so I can send you the address.”
Scott blinked, dumbstruck. “What?”
“You can bring a plus one, I swear everything’s fine.”
Scott licked his lips and thought for a second. Next thing he knew he was giving his number to Danny.
The party was loud and crowded. Scott had lost Stiles in the herd of people. He had made his way to the punch bowl and watched as Jackson poured a flask of vodka into it. “You want some?” Jackson asked when he noticed the eyes on him.
Scott wasn’t completely sure what to say, so he nodded. “Uh, yeah, sure. Does Lydia know you’re doing this?”
Jackson pursed his lips as he grabbed one of the solo cups. “Who’s to say she didn’t ask me to spike the punch?” He shrugged before using the ladel to pour the punch into the cup.
Scott chuckled then furrowed his brows. “Danny said that you asked him to invite me.”
Jackson stilled for a moment, it was barey noticable, before he gave the cup to Scott. “I did.”
Jackson took a deep breath and shrugged again. “Maybe I wanted to see you make a fool of yourself.”
Scott laughed and turned his head away, his eyes scanning the crowd. He looked down at the drink in his hand before thinking fuck it and taking a big swig of it.
“Wanna dance?” Jackson asked once Scott finally looked at him again.
