2017.07.08 News Article — ”Fantastic Debut” Idol Jaeun’s Showcase
On the 7th of July, Crown Empire debuted a brand new soloist Lee Jaeun. Her showcase was quite popular for a rookie, but that is because of the history surrounding this special girl. Jaeun was previously a member of girl groups Pristine and Krokos. After a tumultuous exit from Krokos and her previous company, many fans did not think they would see their idol again for a while. However, luck was on the fan’s side! Jaeun released a partially self-written track “Wanna Date Me?” on July 7th moments before she was to go on stage at her showcase for the single. She opened with the title song and continued into a tearful MC before performing her solo song from Krokos, Navigation. Following Navigation was another track off of her single, Hold On. It originally featured Han Jamie, but Jaeun would be performing it solo... Or so she thought?! For the high note that was planned to be playback to make up for Jamie’s absence, Jamie came out to belt in the flesh! Jaeun and the fans were all surprised. Jamie’s entrance caused a wave of loud cheers in the midst of the song as Jaeun once again broke down into tears. They finished the song and continued into a MC that was improvised on the spot. Jamie stayed for one more song — a cover of Love Shoot from their Krokos days. The fans were crying, but were proud of how far the girls had come in such a short time from a bad situation. Ending the event was the ballad version of Wanna Date Me? followed by a short closing MC. Jaeun’s quirky charm shone through and we are sure the public will be just as receptive to her!
