Nora tapped her lips trying to remember, she met Claudia before but they had barely spoken. Barely ever said more than fifteen words to one another. But as Gabrielle continued to talk the memories flooded back to her, she remembered the fire, visiting the hospital to check on her. “Oh–yeah, I remember her.” She said nodding. She furrowed her brow and pursed her lips. “Okay, So Claudia was the best friend and I’m guessing this Edith girl was the ex girlfriend?” She asked eyebrows raising. “Then put on how I met your mother.” She said shrugging. Hearing the girl spin into denial she rollled her eyes and sat down next to the girl. “Oh shut up.” She hissed. “You’re so down in the dumps for something that happened ages ago. Last time I saw you was at least four months ago. If I can move on after my fiancee walked out on me you can move on from this. You’re a beautiful woman Gabrielle. Being so down and pessimistic about this isn’t going to get you out of this spiral you’re going down.”

Gabrielle nodded in defeat. After everything Edith had helped her with, helped her conquer over the years as well as her manager, her friend and then her lover, she felt the pounding on her heart hard. It had been harsh. Thinking they were gonna be alright, moved back to Canada to live their happy life with Frankie and Audrey, even talked about getting married as everything calmed down in both of their lives. No stress from Broadway. Until one morning she woke up without her lover by her side, or anywhere to be found in her mother’s house that they had decided to stay in since they still had to put it up for sale anyways. A panting Frankie was all she woke up to, together with a broken heart. ‘’Your fiancee walked out on you? That’s...’’ she paused as she broke her gaze off from the redhead, suddenly not even interested in icecream anymore. ‘’I’m sorry. It sucks. No note, no text, nothing. Just an empty bed. An empty house and no signs of anybody else or whatsoever. For a while I thought I had imagined it all. Happiness.’’ She felt the tears burn behind her eyes, but clenched her jaws to keep them in. ‘’I’m not beautiful. I’m a damn wreck. I used to be a Broadway star. Now I’m nothing anymore.’’ She pulled out her phone, opening up her text inbox. ‘’Nobody has texted me in months. No producers, nothing. It’s been months since Claudia texted and there’s...’’ her finger scrolled the list up again, the last message she had ever received coming from Edith, about a month ago.

“Which one was your best friend? I can’t keep track of all the girls that have come in and out of this show. But okay–Lets fix this. For one, turn off the show, watch something funny like Friends or whatever makes you laugh. Two, use a spoon instead of whatever–that is. You’re not a failure. You just need to get out of your PJs and get some actual food in your system. We can get you a manager pretty easy, you step foot back on this show and you’re pretty much guaranteed a manager. As for the love of your life–well keep looking. You’ll find her.” 

‘‘Claudia,’‘ she felt her heart ache at the mention of her name, even worse when it slipped from her own lips. ‘‘Claudia Grayson, she’s a redhead, like you. Lost her singing voice after a fire happened in her theatre in New York.’‘ Gabrielle told the redhead she had seen often enough back when she had been a part of the show. When Edith had still been in her life. That thought made her almost want to cry again, though she was stopped by everything Nora said. ‘‘I don’t wanna watch Friends, because it used to be Edith’s fav-’‘ she felt a lump forming in her throat, not even able to say her name out loud anymore. It made her stick the wooden spoon between her lips and bite on it, hard. She shook her head in denial. ‘‘I will never find anyone anymore. That’s it. I’ll forever be single and turn into a crazy pug lady. If I’m not already.’‘

‘‘I thought joining the show again would make me happy, make me forget about all the miserable things in my life and get my best friends back. But no, here I am, my best friends nowhere to be found, watching old episodes where I was still happy and in love. Is there anything you wish to say to Gabrielle now you're in London and she's not?

“Why would I? I packed her in my suitcase, didn’t you know? I’m kidding, she wouldn’t fit and she refused to fold that way. I took her to yoga for nothing. Of course she tried to sneak pizza into it, so that should’ve been my first clue. I want to tell her. I love her. I will always love her. She is my best friend, and no matter how far apart we are, I am only one call away. If she should ever need me. And I wish her the best in everything she does. I hope she is happy, with Edith and Audrey and her hundreds of pugs. We won’t be apart for long, I will of course fly back and visit her and hopefully she will come here. And that… she’s given me the strength to try. She is my muse, my absolute muse to work on my voice. It’s hard work, I’m not going to lie, but looking at her. It makes me feel like, I can do anything. She of all people should know what it’s like, to train your voice and shape it into something beautiful. I just want her to be proud of me. I want to be on stage and look out to the crowd, seeing her shining face. I miss her so much. I miss going behind stage at Studio 54 and hiding in her dressing room. And then jumping out and filming it for our vlog. I miss her almost hyperventilating before going out on stage for act 2. This will be my last selfie I'll ever take in this house, sorry owl sculpture this is my 15 minutes of fame before I'll sign the papers and say my goodbye.
