❝ My cooking has never killed anyone, ever. ❞ probably.
max is 60+ years old and can still whoop all ya’ll ass in a fight and dude has a RV that is LOADED down w/guns and other weapons, you come in his trailer park unannounced there’s 50 level 30 alien tech bazookas honed in
HEX
He won’t lie, the most terrifying of the Tennysons had to be Max, not because he was the most powerful, but he was the only Tennyson who didn’t have any special powers, and still could lay someone out just as easily as anyone else in his family. He’s seen him swing concrete to kill one of his gargoyles, that in itself isn’t easy. Keep calm. He won’t do anything… As long as Hex didn’t do anything stupid.
“I’ve been teaching for quite some time now. Magical artifacts and antiques. It’s a nice change of pace, they say I’m the best teacher of that class they’ve ever had.”
“It’s good to see you Max. I hope you’re doing well.” Not really, but it’s better not to upset the man who lived in a mobile arsenal for an entire summer.
It was hard to believe this was the man who had tried to kill him many times over and while he seemed harmless enough from what he’d heard, that didn’t mean he was ready to let his guard down just yet. It would take some warming up to Hex before he would fully trust him but he did believe in second chances and giving credit where it was due.
❝Gwen talks about your class a lot,❞ he said rather dryly, one of the only reasons he hadn’t jumped on the offensive was because his grand-daughter spoke pretty highly of Hex as a professor and tried to convince him that they were no longer enemies. It was Gwen who’s opinion he cared for, and he would take her word seriously until the magician gave him a reason not to. ❝I’m well but I’m glad to see you turn it around.❞ he meant that, genuinely, slowly offering his hand towards him in an offer for a truce. Max had to be civil.
@amvlett // didn’t like for a starter but !!!!!
❝Hex.❞ came his gruff acknowledgement of the magician in his presence, arms folded over his large chest in a guarded stance. It was hard to believe that someone so hell bent on world domination had turned over a new leaf so easily but while Max was all for new beginnings and second chances, he had to see it with his own two eyes. Especially when he had his grand-daughter’s safety to think about. ❝I hear you’re teaching now, is that true?❞
BEN
This was true fear: hearing his grandfather had food on hand. There were few things Ben was openly afraid of, and Max Tennyson’s xenocuisine was most certainly high on that list ( and constantly fighting the spot with peacocks ). Gulping down the lump in his throat as he also swallowed the urge to scream ABSOLUTELY NOT , he chuckled nervously.
“ Haha, I’m … surprisingly not hungry. I ate earlier before getting here. Thanks though grandpa! “
Not a total lie. A smoothie was food, especially when it was full of protein. Nothing said lunch like mango, kiwi, and tilapia all blended together with non-dairy yogurt! That would keep him going until he got hungry in two hours, then forget he’s hungry, then not eat until this the day was over. Or the next day. Depends how distracted he got.
Max looked up at his grandson from over the pot lid he was holding as a shield where the screeching an foul smell of his food wafted through the room, obliviousness on his features ; a trait he had come to possess when it came to his cooking. ❝Fair enough,❞ he replied jovially before slamming the lid down fully on his concoction ( more so because he was afraid that his food would escape ) with a wide smile. ❝I know you have pretty bad eating habits so I made extra -- you can have some later, plenty there for Rook, Gwen and Kevin too.❞ he already had a bowl full for himself placed to one side, some kind of stew swimming with tentacles and eyeballs, the usual for Max Tennyson’s palate.
❝On a serious note, Dr. Animo is back in town, I need you and Rook to run some recon later and find out what he’s up to.❞
@dnawield // starter
❝Hey Ben, just in time!❞ boisterous laugh followed as he stirred up his latest concoction of xenocuisine, something was moving in the pot but the magister paid no mind, whacking it with the ladle so it would simmer down before it had the chance to bolt and attack anybody in the room. ❝Grab a bowl, I made plenty, gotta keep your strength up if you’re gonna be on the job 24/7.❞
