PUNISHER SENTENCE STARTERS ― NOT ACCEPTING

ANGER. Anger is the thing that’s sitting in his chest. ( Or was it sadness. Bitterness. All mixed together and the only thing Rocket can really emote out was anger. ) Because sadness? That wasn’t his thing. Bitterness? Well he could be bitter till the ends of time. But sadness was a weakness. It showed you were vulnerable. It showed the other person just how to pluck your strings and make you weak– sadness was a dark, empty cage with no light and barely enough food. Sadness was being torn apart and put together again only to be made into this. This monster. And now sadness was this. This moment. Or maybe it was the moment that he watched Groot turn to ash in his eyes. How he heard him call out I am Groot ( dad ) right before he disappeared. Or maybe it was the next moment when he tried to contact Quill, or Gamora, or Drax, Or Mantis and got nothing. Not a response. Not peep. Just static. And when he tried to find their tracers….? Well— it was like they never existed. So this moment this right here. As Rocket stood facing his friends with tears in his eyes. Pointing at all them, anger in his voice that didn’t have the venom to it. Not the bite that usually followed. Just sadness. And Rocket can see it on their faces that they didn’t mean to leave him. Peter’s words were evidence to that, telling him that he can put them blame on him if he wants. Groot’s hand stretched out with a smile on his face even more evidence to that statement. The older tree– wait. He was older. Older…? Groot wasn’t older when he died—

There’s a JOLT when he wakes up. Something falls in the room he’s sleeping in from the ship lurching and Rocket’s ears pick up a brief argument between Thor and Nebula. A grumble under his breath as he wipes at his nose, washing his paws like he usually does when he was under some sort of great stress and when he pulls back– they’re wet. Tears falling from his eyes that well up and cloud his vision and he get’s mad again. Mad at himself. Mad at Quill. Mad at Gamora. Groot. Drax. Mantis. They left him. They left him. It should of been him. He was the one with the short life span. Why couldn’t that dumb snap take him. He curls up in himself, his tail wrapping around and he buries his head underneath his arms. ❝ If that’s you tryin’ to communicate or haunt my ass from the other side– shut up. I’m trying to sleep… you assholes…. leavin’ me alone…. ❞

     Stress bleached hair , scar burned across his nose , synthetic weaponized prosthetic , a sense of leadership in his stride  ——  he stands out in a crowd.  Even without his armor he holds himself like the disciplined officer he once was ; the vibe that with every breath he fights for some ultimate cause.  His arms crossed tight and a bit of a  pout  across his face  ( sᴛᴜᴄᴋ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ᴀ sᴄᴏᴡʟ ᴀɴᴅ ᴅɪsᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ )  the Paladin looks into the shaded establishment and drums a mechanical finger against his jacket’s sleeve.    ❛  I might be a Paladin , but you forget I was once a prisoner —— a  gladiator.  They don’t know I’m a part of Voltron.  ❜    Except  for the part of the universe where he is more akin to a  movie star.

he’s trying to be nice , to not point out EVERYTHING about shiro that makes him , well   ————   shiro .   he walks like a hero , just barely missing a CAPE   &   a hilarious name to go with it .   it’s a hard thing to shed , the mantle of defender .   peter doesn’t think the paladin is capable of it , he’s just not the type to walk away from justice   &   everything that goes with it .     ❛   no way , i always forget that ,   ❜     wry smile at that .     ❛   i wonder why .   ❜     if he’s heard of voltron by NOW , then certainly so has the rest of the universe .     ❛   you’ll gonna stand out like a sore thumb, dude .   ❜

          She’d been stranded on the planet for WEEKS now, her food supply limited to what she hoped wasn’t poisonous berries that smelled odd and out of place. The life forms she’s encountered were proving to dwindle on an intellectual level as well     but it’s all she has to talk to when the radio silence became too much or when the static left her mind swarming with the infinite possibilities that they’d lost her signal eons away. She doesn’t have it in her to switch frequencies to send out distress calls or put herself in danger anymore than she had. Was it impulsive to use the test on herself? Perhaps, but they’d planned small before hand. 

          She never intended to go as far as galaxies away. 

          She’d come to the fact days before she might never return to her home either     OR get off this mundane planet. 

          She can’t help but start off on another exhibition of discovery. The planet was far too big to be dedicated to simple minded creatures     there has to be more to it than that. There has to be something. Who would have thought alien life would be so      boring.

a signal pings in the middle of nowhere , in one of the most dull star systems there are in that quadrant of deep space .   nothing as far as the eye can see , nothing INTERESTING at least   ;   most planets are pretty , sure , but they lack stimulation of any kind   ———   no decent bars to begin with .   so , with nowhere else to be , he drifts along , locking onto the dot dot dot on the scanner .   primitive for that sector , but he’s known some primitive races with better tech than say , pretty much ANYTHING you could find back on terra .   then again , terra was light years behind everyone else .

neon clouds in the sky   &   equally colorful foliage in the planet’s surface greets him when the ship breaks through the atmosphere , GLIDING down into a curve to avoid the nearby mountainous area .    there is absolutely NOTHING as far as the eye can see , but the scanner continues to roam , locked onto the frequency .   crashed ship might’ve been his first guess , if the signal wasn’t on the move .   escaped convict  ?  castaway  ?   ———————   small , there .   he catches a figure , humanoid in shape   &   he lets the ship fly overhead , close enough to pick up a strong BREEZE .   it’s really none of his business   ..   but that’s never stopped him before , has it  ?  after all , it could be someone in need .   someone with CREDITS in their pocket , willing to part with most of it for a rescue .   so , he lands the ship , steps out with the flair of someone who knows exactly what he’s doing   ————   he SHOULD know , he calls himself a guardian of the galaxy now .

the person he encounters , however , breaks all expectation .   humanoid , yeah .   possibly   ..   terran  ?   unlikely , but not IMPOSSIBLE .     ❛   you look a little lost there . let me guess , took two lefts instead of one right .   ❜
