hiatus time. at least until the end of the month
for those of you whom I may be meeting in the near future, or anyone else with something to say, I might be more reachable on discord [at]galoisgroupie for the time being

Claude Monet - Le Parlement, soleil couchant (The Houses of Parliament, at Sunset), 1901, oil on canvas, 81.3 x 93 cm
The Waste Land and Howl are too short, Song of Myself is insufficiently narrative (and still only like 50 pages). Is The Song of Hiawatha the only noteworthy North American epic poem?
my most Millennial trait is that i want big screen to think properly. to compose my thoughts. app exists for your thing but no website? bad bad bad not good for think, need big screen for think. i wrote this post on the small screen btw
"why do you want to gossip with the girls?" why do i want to learn from the poets, the writers, the thinkers, the scientists, the mathematicians, the intuitive, and the philosophers? is that what you're asking me?
still amazes me that there are first world countries that practice conscription. just an embarrassing thing to do. "our way of life is only possible with slavery" - for goodness sake even the americans can hide it offshore!
I'm very much in agreement - in my father's day any man in the country had to go to the army for a year after school (or at least show up and be considered. Conscientious objection was a thing, for example), and they only abolished that shortly before I finished my basic education. Awful to think about. Disgusts me that they're about to bring it back. But the US model of conscription hasn't been abolished, has it, it's just currently inactive?
Currently inactive, though they require male registration for the "selective service system" that they would use for a draft if it came up. But we are coming up on 3 generations who have never been at risk, and the military is very much built around using a smaller number of better supported volunteers.
I think the political will required to restart conscription proper would be equivalent with or without the SSS, and while it's abolishment would make it harder to restart in practical terms I am not particularly worried about it separate from further expansion of the US military as it stands — the all-volunteer US army was perfectly capable of running a torture center in Abu Gharib.
So I'd call it over, if we're quibbling details
I AM SO SERIOUS WHEN I SAY THAT I WILL UNFOLLOW THE FUCK OUT OF YOU IF I SEE YOU REBLOGGING THAT PHOTO-SET OF THE COCKATOO COVERED IN CHOCOLATE
That is not funny
That is not cute
It is animal abuse
BIRDS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT CHOCOLATE
BIRDS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE COATED IN CHOCOLATE
Why the fuck do you think birds who get coated in oil die? It’s for the same goddamn reason.
You idiots can have all the chuckles you want over the fact that that poor animal is “living the dream” but I hope you also know that it probably died from that.
And if you still find it funny then I genuinely do not want to associate you and can only wish upon you the most painful and awful death imaginable.
I just want to point out that no one is forcing the bird into the chocolate
No one pulled the damn thing in
In fact it fully appears to be waddling into the fountain by its damn self
Calm the hell down chocolate is not the damn same as chocolate
Its just a bird making a mistake and it’s fucking funny
It’s not animal cruelty unless someone was holding that bird at gunpoint fucking christ
Oh good. I was waiting for some moron to try and defend this.
Listen here cum-slut, I bet you 5 million dollars that you don’t own a bird. But guess what? I own 7. And I can tell you right now that a bird would never just walk into something like a chocolate fountain. They’ll rarely walk directly into water.
But say that your idiotic theory is correct.
Say it did actually walk into it.
That animal still probably died.
Is that still funny to you? Do you still get your kicks out of knowing that that bird was probably terrified and opening its mouth to scream in that last panel?
And if you say yes then you seriously disgust me as a human being.
Guys those photos were fake, it was CGI, it was from that adam sandler movie jack an Jill
Jack and Jill was a documentary you fucking idiot
Listen here cum-slut

I'm not entirely sure what I want out of this website anymore. Most of the discussion isn't too too interesting, and I'm not like sitting in my room shitposting for hours on end. But it is nice here. The people I guess. It's a bit silly, I haven't met (or even directly interacted much) with most of you, but I still appreciate all of my mutuals. And I don't think the website has gone downhill meaningfully, I've just become an actualized human being with a very fulfilling social life.
How AI could destroy mathematics and barely touch it
I've already heard a lifetime's worth of discussion on this topic, but I think this one gets at some of my opinions on the topic.
if the government just actually legalized dog blood they could be taxing it and people would be getting and using their dog blood in safer ways
