Sunflower progress
My first from seed zinnia flower
The pumpkins still only have male flowers
I got salvia and gallardia (blanketflower) from tractor supply
The first of the calendula is flowering!
Got some serious rain last night and planted out 8 blue lake bush beans where I had pulled the garlic up. I plan to get some bamboo and make a teepee for them to climb…. Or maybe just sticks?
My giant marigold, my fancy double coneflowers a pumpkin and a special little visitor, who I attempted to give a snap pea.
Pulled half the garlic in case the rain we are expecting would turn it to mush.
Below is the garlic i harvested a couple weeks ago because it was splitting
Cayenne pebbers!
Got them at walmart, bonnie plant brand.
I decided not to pinch the tops but i did remove most of the lower leaves. Added bone meal and worm castings to the holes
Marsh marigolds arrived! Got them from bagley pond perennials.
They are native and should like our marshy areas.
-You vs the marigold she tells you not to worry about
-coreopsis flowers and a cool bug
-dog run progress and so many snow pea shoots
- we have a lot of snap peas
First coreopsis flower! And the rescue columbine is flowering too!
Got a 40% sun shade for the dog run corner to help the tractor leaf plant and comfry.
Went to the greenhouses on Saturday and got two new types of echinacea/coneflower and a gerber daisy and a replacement sundew
About 3 of my garlics have side shoots which is called ‘witches brooming’ i pulled one yesterday to see what was what. They seem a little wet and also the new cloves had basically sprouted so ummm not great on those. Its probably due to the crazy temperature fluctuations we have been getting
I put out rock decoy strawberries and we had our first marigold and will have our first snap peas soon.
I dont remember if i posted the mutant basil seedling yet.
First snow peas
Porch plant progress
Basil progress
Cleaning up the back bed
Fern corner
My largest sunflower so far!
Yard photos
The trees have all leafed out and the hostas are baaack.
Also the first iris is blooming and i planted cinnamon ferns in the bed by the patio.
Had my first snow pea shoot stirfry!
The carnivorous pitchers and venus fly traps are back and happy (except one fly trap 😬)
Helenium seeds finallly germinated.
Catnip is looking good too
Not pictured i started some lupine for the back of the yard
Hosta progress. Also got some coreopsis at lowes today and a columbine.
Planted the hibiscus in the ground which feels like a big deal.
Also got 3 ollas on poshmark and put them in the raised beds and between the hibiscus/roselle
1. First loofah seedling (started in a plastic tupperware) i direct sewed 3 more yesterday
2. Roselle almost ready to be planted out (a couple more weeks I think
3. Daffodils still popping
4. Sunflower bed, the only ones that struggled to come up are the tiger eye variety from lowes
5. Snow peas are going crazy with snaps following behind
6. Biggest mammoth sunflower seedling
7. Hosta nubs (some have leaves unfurling)
A few more update photos since I havent posted on here in a bit
First daffodils are up!
The neighbor gave me mint and more strawberries
We got a shed! And the catnip is coming up and my seedlings are probably ready to go out.
We did have a frost last Tuesday but just lost the zinnia seedlings that were in the ground and a lot of the new growth on the hedges.
Moved one of the hosta to the front bed with the helebore and all the hostas are now sprouting!
All 3 beauty berry bushes have new leaves and 5 purple thai basils are growing.
I got helenium/sneezeweed seeds but havent managed to germinate them.
Also threw some lupin and pumpkin seeds in the back of the yard. 🎃
I sprouted the pumpkin seeds in a container with several loofah seeds but only one loofah sprouted so i saved it from the moldy pumpkin root horror and put it in the raised bed
Irises in on the moss garden bed. Also transplanted the fern that was under the porch.
The daffodils are almost up in the front and one of the beauty berry bushes has a new leaf!
The chamomile is coming up in the raised bed and the strawberries are flowering. I had to spray them for aphids yesterday (ants may have brought them)
Potted Mexican petunias and catnip as well as the mystery lillies yesterday. And seeded basil in the raised bed.
Seedling update! I started two more roselle last night just in case something happens. Everything is getting its second pair of leaves and have been outside so should be hardening off.
Got two comfry plants from facebook marketplace man. He was very nice and had other herbs available too if I need more. These are mostly for soil amendment via chop and drop but also have nice long taproots. He confirmed they are true comfry so will spread by seed
Got a box of plants from a woman on mercari, very friendly sent: irises (probably yellow flag), huge elephant ear bulbs, mexcian petunias and some kind of lily. I will put the petunias and lilies in pots.
Snow peas going crazy
Okay okay i have the seed fever.
Planted chamomile and chives in yhe raised green beds. And zinnias and asters and calendula under the bushes on the side that we hacked back
And more aster by the raspberries.
The weather still looks really good. Saw a fb post that there might be another freeze around the 15th but kind of seems not?
