HELLO THERE
WHAT ARE THE ODDS?
*The intercom system screeches to life:
Hiii, so apparently I wasn’t very good at giving instructions. Due to that I’d like all those who aren’t in their spots to come back to the foyer (the room you all entered in).
That is most of you by the way, only Gram and Wylie is in their spots though Zap found zeir spot.
Instructions will be given over the intercom when everyone is in their spots. Alrighty?
Oh and Tenna, can you head to the kitchen and grab your station mate? She’s a bit… exhausted. I can guide you if needed.
(*She looks over to Florence. He smiles weakly at it before placing a hand on her shoulder and moving along.*)
I'll catch you later, old friend.
(*Just get to the station, old gal. He arrives to the kitchen with the elegant click clack of heels, and a swish of that fancy blue dress.*)
[Friend stares at where Tenna's hand laid on her shoulder, and nodded slowly.]
Later..
*Behind a door in the Green Room that leads to a hallway, a new door forms at the end. A towering door made of stained wood with a brass doorknob.
*Will you enter?
[Friend stares at the door, contemplating if it should enter or just skip out on the event.]
[It looks around and sees that no one is there, so it opens the door and slinks into the room.]
*The foyer is before it, stained wood and carvings. Like something out of an old movie.
*The two staircases gently slope around the edges of the room leading to a door, while a more shady door lies beneath them.
[It silently gazes at the room, then focuses its attention on the door between the stairs. It does not move.]
*The door doesn’t move, the whole room is still. Though rustling can be heard in the distance.
*The wood is warm as if it had been under the sun’s light, though the chandelier is the only source of light in the room.
[Being out in the open makes the cat uneasy. It slips under one of the staircases and watches the foyer entrance from there.]
*It’s cooler under there, though the unnatural warmth of the wood remains.
*The rustling gets closer and closer, coming from the top of the steps.
. . .
[It peeks out in an attempt to see what’s on the stairs.]
*A red light can be seen shining.
*As it moves down the left staircase, it can be seen that it is a red soul on a string with a series of chairs moving behind it.
[Friend tilts its head and continues observing the soul.]
*If whatever is attached to the soul notices her, it does not indicate it. Continuing its business.
*It bobs up and door as it moves, leading chairs into the corners of the rooms. The chairs are eclectic as if taken from various places.
[Somewhere in the back of its mind, Friend makes the decision to trail behind the soul.]
*There is a brief tremble in the air, like someone is laughing.
*After the soul finishes with the chairs it goes back up the steps, the door opening for it by itself.
[Friend watches the soul until it’s out of sight, then goes back under the stairs and continues watching the foyer door.]
*People come and go, most going up the stairs.
[Friend continues to watch. Some people it unfortunately recognizes, some it doesn’t. It makes no move to approach any of them.]
(*Tenna slinks in through the foyer door, wearing a devilish little blue dress and pearl accessories, like the perfect black and white movie villainess. He's carrying a black clutch along with it, with some pearl accents to match her necklace. He doesn't see friend. She seems to be looking around for.. someone she knows.*) (*...Guarav is also entering at a similar time as her, glaring at her from the corner of zeir eye. Zey seem to be looking for a friend, be it Obsidian, Igneous, Six, Pips, or Boxxer. Or anyone else zey're particularly friendly with. Just not Tenna. Zey're wearing a gothic black dress with some over the top pink gloves and shoes.*)
[Friend, who had almost made up its mind to leave the stairs and go find its station, saw Tenna and decided that under the stairs was preferable.]
[It watched her silently, forgetting how visible its eyes were in the dark. It was too focused on how well the whole getup suited her.]
(*Tenna glanced around the room, looking for a familar face, someone friendly. Friendly. How fitting. His eyes flitted over the bright eyes in the dark, and startled before smiling.
...And then startling again, because Florence may still not remember her.
But there's no way under it, no way over it. All that's to do is to go through. Buck up, woman! He briefly fixes her lipstick in an engraved pocket mirror from that fancy black clutch, and walks over to his old friend. Right beside that familiar flashing pair of eyes.*)
[Friend’s eyes widen and it tries to slink further into the shadows, only for its back to meet a wall.]
[It looks up at Tenna, who has not gone away.]
(*She smiles weakly at his old friend, fidgeting with the hem of her dress.*)
Been a while, huh?
[Friend rapidly glances between Tenna and whatever routes it could take to leave. Then it sighs and crawls out from under the steps.]
It has.
[It stands up, dusts itself off, and clasps its hands behind its back, a gesture that feels vaguely familiar to Tenna.]
(*She smiles at his old friend. It's faint, though. How much does Mi-
Hm. No. Florence. Tenna, remember the name for it, since it doesn't seem to know it herself. Remember Florence.
How much does Florence remember?*)
You, er, hah.. remember much of me?
(*He shakes her head and moves along.*)
Nice shindig here, eh?
..I remember exactly one conversation we have had in the past five months. All else was taken from my memory.
[It grows quieter.]
Ten years ago, however..
[It looks back up at Tenna, voice evening out to something matter-of-fact without any reminiscence or regret in it at all. totally.]
It is a rather nice house though. It brings to mind the set design for Clue, though I suppose that is to be expected for a murder mystery event.
(*He seems sadder. Quieter. He continues on with gusto, but her energy is noticeably subdued.*)
Oh, clue! That reminds me of this one production of "Clue the Musical" that I'd seen ages ago, gosh, it might have been when you were- well, not you, but you get me. I'd tried to emulate that somewhat with this outfit. I'm a Miss Peacock through and through, of course. Hence the blue. It's not my usual color, but when in rome!
(*He's rambling. Anxiously. Please, someone stop her.
..Tenna's still holding on to Florence. Not physically, mind you, but you can catch my meaning there. He is not going to let her old friend go.*)
It’s a very fitting look for you, the contrast of your usual color and style.
..I am under the assumption that you Know. Your left antenna is always canted slightly like that whenever you know something you are not exactly meant to.
Thank you, dear!
(*He looks a little taken aback.*)
Know.. know what in particular?
(*Tenna seems flustered by the "antenna" comment.*)
Uh-
[It gestures vaguely to itself.]
I-.. I was..
[It seems unable to finish the sentence and just stares at the floor instead.]
Never mind.
Ah. A-alright then.
(*She shuffles between his feet, not knowing what to say. Tenna clears her throat once, then finally speaks.*)
So... how is Lacey doing? Are you and her still close?
O-oh, Lacey. I managed to remember our first meeting, but nothing besides that. She has refused to leave my side, and I.. care about her. I believe she cares about me as well.
I am glad she stayed. Otherwise it is likely I would still remember absolutely nothing, and feel nothing because of that.
...
How have you been?
I'm.. sorry that you can't remember her. Fully. I've never had that happen to me, but I fear it would be.. hectic at the studio.
I'm alright, darling. I've been able to spend more time with the kids, thankfully! Melly's doing alright with reading her newer books, but she usually prefers fantastical stories, so getting her to do much more "educational" things is a little difficult. But she's seemingly got the development of a three year old, so patience is key here.
..And then there are the partners. They're all doing okay. Spamton's settled in, Battat is overworking himself as usual, and Pluey's her good old self as always-
Ah. I've gone off again haven't I? Apologies.
(*Tenna seems far too formal compared to how she usually behaves with.. friends.*)
[Friend glances back at Tenna. Her eyes look a touch clearer than before.]
I met with Battat recently. Briefly. He told me about Melly, I.. didn't know she was capable of hatching.
I've heard she looks like the both of you. You and S-Spamton, I mean.
[Friend's paws are now clasped across its abdomen, and she's idly scratching at her paw pads.]
*Behind a door in the Green Room that leads to a hallway, a new door forms at the end. A towering door made of stained wood with a brass doorknob.

[Friend, who had almost made up its mind to leave the stairs and go find its station, saw Tenna and decided that under the stairs was preferable.]
[It watched her silently, forgetting how visible its eyes were in the dark. It was too focused on how well the whole getup suited her.]
