i only watched the first episode and a half but i get your vision i think
lots to explore with how they interact and contrast emotionally, no? yelle is the calm and collected type and good with people, while zelda gets shy and withdrawn. i don’t know much about the nature of her rage but that must play an important factor
i’m probably missing a lot of lore about them but please give me headcanons
ok so i have like a very strong headcanon that zelda is autistic, and she only really knows how to exist in extremes. she‘s either raging or completely withdrawn from an interaction, either loves something or hates it. also, her barbarian class plus her family’s tradition is all about going to those extreme emotional states and using them. having a neutral attitude towards something is really unnatural for her.
and that’s yelle‘s whole thing. danielle "has never let herself feel a single emotion without rationalising it" barkstock, who accepts everything exactly as it is and learns to work with it. there’s something about her that just makes people feel at ease, zelda is rarely ever actually calm except when yelle is there.
but the more zelda gets to know yelle, the more she notices that yelle‘s level of calmness and the way she distances herself from her feelings are also super unhealthy. because sometimes, your greatest strength can become your worst quality if you’re too good at it. and zelda, who is so used to being "too much" for others, realises that yelle needs to learn how to take up space and speak up for herself.
