HER TEENY MAIL SHIRT
This GIRL
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 3.5 | INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 2.3
This is what I meant by how a lot of white supremacy is projection.
"I feel like my penis/my Manhood as a symbol is smaller than Black man's" becomes "Black men have oversized penises and are sexually insatiable beasts."
"I am sexually attracted to, fetishizing, and feel entitled to Black women's bodies" becomes "well she's asking for it, look at how she looks, Black women are always more openly sexual."
"I am afraid of approaching Black men" becomes "Black men are a threat."
"I am afraid of approaching Black women" becomes "Black women are always angry."
"I am not smart enough/not qualifed enough/can't beat my white counterparts professionally" becomes "DEI and affirmative action are letting those Blacks steal my position in school/jobs!"
Your own fears and insecurities about yourself somehow become a reflection of my humanity, when it had nothing to do with anything. And somehow enough people think that and now it's systemic instead of the made up nonsense it always was. Ijeoma Oluo called it mediocrity, James Baldwin called racism the white man's problem, and they remain correct.
100% correct. I’ve never met a racist who wasn’t deeply insecure at their core.
I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow.
I need to pack. Before I pack, I need to finish my laundry. I also need a new bag to pack things into. I need to pick up my meds. I need to get socks on so I can get shoes on because it is raining and I can't wear sandals. I need to shower tonight.
For the life of me I cannot make myself do any of these things. So I'm going to sit here in growing anxiety until my brother comes out and reminds me that I need to get my meds because for some reason that will make getting up easier.
Why is my brain like this? I studied psychology in college because I wanted to find out. It hasn't much helped.
Sigh.
I'm on another Sherlock Holmes kick recently and...
... it has led me to re-examine my fascination with BBC's Sherlock. I was obsessed back in the SuperWhoLock era. I've many thoughts on the show, not many of them are new. Anyway, I noticed something interesting (to me, about me, but maybe you will all understand).
Back when the show was airing, I purchased exactly 2 episodes on Amazon. The first is A Study in Pink, the first episode. I probably purchased it because I wanted to watch it on a flight or whenever I wanted without worrying about whatever pirating site I was using going down.
A Study in Pink is good TV. It just is. It already has a lot of the cracks that would become more apparent as the show went on, but in isolation it is still a strong story and iteration of these characters. None of the other episodes ever grabbed me the way this one did, though I continued to enjoy the show and was always rabid for more during the long hiatuses.
The other episode I have?
The Final Problem. The last episode. THE episode, the one that had people convinced it had to be fake because no way could the show actually be THAT bad, right? That's the only other episode I spent money on.
I wasn't a Johnlock Conspiracy truther. I never thought it was fake. But it was bad in a way that just fascinated me. It was a terrible script with very good acting (and I'm a sucker for that shit) and I just was filled with a need to rewatch every scene, to dissect and examine every aspect so I could figure out what the hell Mofftiss were going for here because W H A T????
And I looked at my video library and realized-- this is a pattern. I only get attached enough to purchase something if it's very good or if it's absolutely awful. Not too much in between.
Anyway this is just me mumbling to the void.

Wings in the Snow
This idea came from this tweet.
☺️ The wing prints left by a hunting owl looked so incredibly beautiful that they immediately gave me Destiel vibes🤩
Sadly, burnout meant I didn't get around to drawing it until summer, lol. But I think I needed that time, because I finally managed to bring it to life exactly the way I imagined🥰
I think this might be one of the most incredible, unsettling and symbolic photos of today’s America I’ve ever seen. I can’t stop looking at it. It’s perfect.
Words/phrases I often see from British/Australian writers while writing American characters (and some American alternatives because I know it’s tricky!):
Bugger (American: fuck/fucker)
Flat (American: apartment, “my place”)
Bloke (American: guy, asshole, dude)
Queue (American: line, checkout line)
Cuppa (American: cup of tea, hot tea)
Shite (American: bullshit, shit, crap)
Some of these are regional, like all of the various American words for the British “trolley” (American: shopping cart, buggy, cart, etc) but most of the above words are pretty ubiquitous.
Dropping the article from nouns (American: the/a hospital, the/a university)
Bin (maybe sommme Americans use it? But mostly trashcan, garbage)
Lift (American: elevator)
Arse (American: ass)
We have once again reached the lowered reading comprehension section of the replies. Friends! Please reread the above. There were no value judgements made above. You can continue to use inaccurate terminology for your characters if you choose.
What this is flagging is that the words you are using—in dialogue or narration from an American POV—don’t fit what we use here. and if that’s something that concerns you, or if you want your readers not to get hung up on (to steal an example from the comments) “Why is Midwesterner Dean Winchester talking about a torch??”, these are the words we actually use.
We know what you mean when you use your terminology. We’re saying your American characters would not use those words, so here are the alternatives should you choose to care.
Some more for the collection:
Whinging (American: whining)
Torch (American: flashlight)
Ice lolly (American: popsicle or ice pop)
Boot (American: trunk) [referring to cars]
"Taking the mickey out" (American: teasing, making fun of)
"On holiday" (American: on vacation)
"Piss off" (Some Americans MIGHT say this, but typically not. More like fuck off, go to hell)
It's just the opposite of Britpicking.
do you live in seattle (the american city)?
yes
no
please reblog to get this poll out of my bubble, i want reach
so ive been meaning to do this poll for a while because my hypothesis is that seattle is the most Tumblr city, likely in the entire world. tumblr has a huge american majority userbase obviously, but just for comparison going forward, only 0.22% of the american population lives in seattle. as of this reblog, this poll is showing 4% of respondents are seattleites. given, this isnt scientific at all, because my blog just has a lot of seattle connections and seattle followers, but it's still an impressive bias
Well now I'm curious
Do you live in Portland, OR? (the american city)
Yes
No
do you even live in u.s. America?
yes
no
do you even live on any American continent?
yes
no
This looks like a fucking parody post, or an edgy edit, but it’s 100% official real Flintstones.
Clarification: I don’t hate this book, I love it, it’s amazing. It’s just that taking a step back and looking it out of context is still really funny. Especially the line “We participated in a genocide, Barney.”
ok but imagine them in their cartoon forms saying this dialogue i’m
can we have some context to this, perhaps?
Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.
Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.
That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.
(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)
just fucking read it

There are a lot of interesting things about this post but the AK-47 shaped spear is what really got me
This is just as wild with the context
Some of my favorite moments in the series
From the foreword to 2021 print of the comic.
I’m glad people want to read it but don’t it on the pirate site linked above, though. It’s full of malware and annoying ads.
The omnibus of the full series is only about $30 online.
If you don’t have $30 going spare, check your local library. If they don’t have it, they can help you with interlibrary loan. Or they might just buy it - libraries want to carry books people will read!
stop letting miserable people on the internet convince you that you must have a concrete, well-constructed opinion on everything that has ever existed.
