Town Fiesta in Borongan City is not just about the joy rides, city lights, dates, concessionaires and others. It is also about honoring the Patron Saint of Borongan, Our Lady of Nativity, celebrating the birthday of Virgin Mary.

September 7, Vesper Day when I went to Borongan. I chose to go there that day because it was still not crowded and I wanted to watch the competition of Padul-ong Festival. I thought that the champion would be Sta. Fe National High School again but Maypangdan National High School made it to their first time winning.

The moment I arrived at the terminal, I suddenly decided to go to the church because the essence of fiesta can be felt and seen through dedicating our time and faith to the Patron Saint. I lit a candle then I sincerely feel the presence of God together with the Patron Saint.

After that, I went to the street to wait for the parade. I saw the energetic sway of their performance having the colorful costume. Some of them wearing the traditional hat made of "banahaw" and "bariw" together with a big do-it-yourself flowers on their back and silky clothing. I have seen their passion and dedication as they perform under the heat. Their energy matched with the graceful swaying of party flags and banners from above.

Henceforth, I proceeded to the concessionaires and I saw various accessories such as hand bracelets, anklet chains and other ornaments. I bought one anklet bracelet as a remembrance. I really love collecting such things I have bought from a particular place and I know their sentimental value. After I saw a small seashells designed in my anklet, I decided to go to Baybay Boulevard. I took my time walking in the seashore to have a self talk and listening to my inner voice. I reminisced things and curbed some of my negative emotions.

The time passed by and I felt that it was indeed a great experience. The Vesper Day was filled with exhaustion yet with joy, mind-refreshing happenings, giving my whole attention to my faith, appreciating the culture of our beloved province and town which has a lot of contribution to our identity as Estehanons. These experiences will be brought, passed and told to our future generations.

The euphoria of freedom during ESSUPHORIA 2024 fueled me to rock and roll!

We have celebrated the 20th charter day of Eastern Samar State University through a free concert by Sponge Cola brought us by Cong. Marcelino "Nonoy" Libanan.

The time I heard that Sponge Cola will be having a free concert in ESSU, I suddenly reminisced my childhood back then everytime my uncles would play their songs including other OPM bands. Until now, those kinds of music keeps on playing back in my mind without knowing the song title. I tend to familiarised their song.

As I scrolled down to the page of ESSU looking at the uploaded dress code of the event, I was doubting if I could attend the concert but my friends made a way for me. They asked permission to my lola and by luck, we made it to the concert.

The moment we got there, we came across the distance viewing the crowd as they fall in line to enter the venue while the downpour was starting. It was really a hassle. We were checked by the Criminology Marshalls before we could totally enter the grandstand. We saw the concessionaires offered inside such as coffee, milk shakes, fries, and crochet flowers as well. We bought my favorite iced matcha coffee for three to sip as we vibed to the music of Sponge Cola. We didn't give a damn about our shoes being stuck in the mud since it rained before the said event.

It was indeed a moment of freedom, joy, bond and a deep relieving sigh without thinking about our academics even just for the short period of time. We really had fun that night especially that I was with my genuine friends. We screamed our heart out everytime Yael Yuzon, the vocalist would start a song such as Tuliro, Pag-ibig, Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay and so on. We laughed and even cried, jump and stumped our feet as we relate to the songs.

If I will put a picture that identifies myself, I would put a picture of bamboo. Bamboo is a tree-like grasses, an evergreen perennial flowering plants. Just like bamboo, I can survive in the midst of chaos. I can stand firmly even how many storms may come. I grow so fast continuously, with resiliency, durability, and flexibility. And the struggles I have faced in life had shaped me to how brave and tough I am now. I had suffered a lot before having the endeavour. I also get so weak because just like some bamboo, it blooms yet die. Sometimes, I feel tired and want to rest and lie down in a bit of time. However, just like bamboo, the root it has will make its way to bloom again, to fight and root for my life again.

Not The Chaotic Girl Anymore

What's up Tumblr? It's been a long time! It's me again, Gellyace. As far as I remember, I've gone here a few months ago. Remember me? Gelly, the eldest daughter. A miserable one who came from a messy family and was forced to grow up so quickly because of the heavy responsibility as the eldest. A tough cookie who used to cry silently, really a cry baby. Known as brave and fierce yet a softhearted one. A strong and independent woman but feel so weak for some time.

I grew up in a not so expressive family. Verbally, physically, and emotionally abusive which brought fears and trauma in me. It affected me, my mental and physical health and my brain. In result, I became harsh to myself also and I cope up with those things in an unjustifiable way. I learned to fight, express my feelings out loud, and react harshly as usual. I became impulsive, indecisive, and dominant. My world became a chaos.

Fortunately, I broke the ties. I have a good news to you! I moved to my Lola's house knowing that I am also a lola's girl. There's no more yelling and screaming. Although I am having a crisis financially, I can say that peace of mind and healthy environment are more important. She's been so gentle on me. She would make me a coffee because she knows that I really love coffee.

Aside from that, I diverted my attention in reading books, writing stories, and listening to music. It happened that I forgot some of my dark experiences for I am having fun fantasizing some stories I read. I am having a good vibes also through listening to Laufey's playlist such as "Letter To My 13 Year Old Self", "Magnolia", "Bewitched", "From The Start", and many more. Moreover, I enjoy a lot hanging out in the backyard of my Lola because I can feel the presence of nature. I spend my time sitting there alone especially that I love green. I would die for green! It is something that is tranquil that makes me feel at home. A safe haven with serenity.

In contrary, I sometimes felt sad. I really miss my real home especially my youngest sister. I sometimes wish that they can see how okay I am and contented with my life as of now. Do they miss me too? Can they remember me, and my birthday also? Because I'll be turning 19 this coming September 19. And I don't know if how can I celebrate it without them. However, It's fine. I think I'll be better this way, away from them. Owing to what Brianna Pastor has been said, "If someone can magically appear and suddenly make your life better, just know that that person is always going to be you."

It's really been a long time Tumblr! I had a good time sharing my long and so emotional story I've hidden for a long time now. Thank you for spending time reading this. I wish you a better life full of tranquility and serenity!
