Four Godzilla Fan Films

Hello!

So a few months back I said I had written a Rodan fan film script. Well, I did more than that. One for him, Mothra, Godzilla, AND King Ghidorah.

I decided to find the strength to actually share them. I accept any criticism as long as it's trying to help me improve. Who knows, maybe one day I might get to film one of these.

Among the nitpicks I have with the Monsterverse films, one I have after the recent news that Spacegodzilla is pretty much going to be the Big Bad of Supernova broke:

In Godzilla vs. Kong, the big bad was a robotic Godzilla clone.

In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the main villains were an evil Kong clone and an ice Godzilla clone (that latter one was even more apparent in Shimo's early concept designs).

And now in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, we have a Godzilla clone again. (Bear in mind, Legendary paid Toho for the rights to use their kaiju twice in the instances above. Of all the ones Legendary picked out of a varied selection with original designs, they went with Mechagodzilla, and then Spacegodzilla.)

Doesn't it seem like the Monsterverse films are getting allergic to using original or even distinct monster designs for their movie villains?

'Cos if they think that original villain designs are why Godzilla: King of the Monsters bombed, then I think they really need to look further back at what Godzilla 2014 and Kong: Skull Island had in them.

It depends on how you view each of the Godzilla doppelganger instances we've had to date. Because although they may look similar to Godzilla on the surface, they are very distinct under the hood and how they are involved in their respective stories.

MechaGodzilla was an instigator for the Godzilla vs Kong battles, for the most part. One of the reasons why Godzilla was acting out was to destroy it. And wasn't fully unveiled until the very end of the movie. But once it is fully unleashed, Ghidorah is effectively at the helm. You can even heat their roars faintly when it bursts out of the mountain. So in this instance, the similarities to Godzilla were surface level and almost inconsequential at the end of the day.

And Shimo's case is similar as well, because although one of her bases was the idea of an "Ice Godzilla", that was evidently really early in her development, and changed substantially until we reached the final product. And we also have to consider the fact that she wasn't even a full on villain either. Rather, she was an unwilling antagonistic force at the control of Skar King, who himself is also a unique specimen in his own right.

With Space Godzilla, especially if he follows the same origins as his Toho counterpart, would be the first doppelganger that actually was what it set out to be. A mirror, a copy, an imitator. Something that looks like Godzilla, but isn't.
