I appreciate how imperfect Annabeth is in the original PJO series. She's loud, brash, bold, and defies as much as she can - not because she's passionate, but more because she's prideful. As a girl, she always has to work twice as heard to be heard even though she's a genius. Her only power is invisibility - exactly what she doesn't want to be. She deserves to be seen, heard, and to lead. She had been at Camp, training for YEARS while Percy had been there for 2 days, yet HE leads their first quest. Percy listens to her and trusts her plans to a dangerous degree because he knows how much a genius and a good person she is. She is way less "mad all the time because that's the only way a male author knows how to write a woman" and more passionate and bold without the underlying rage and need to be better than those around her in the later Heroes of Olympus series, perhaps because the author got better at writing women or perhaps because Annabeth is listened to and trusted so much by Percy. She deserves to be heard, and the first person who ever fully took her seriously is Percy.

I just know that Sally Jackson had a bloody aneurysm learning of Jason’s name. That woman made sure to name her son after a Greek hero that had a rare happy ending because names have power.

So imagine her meeting this sweet little friend of Percy’s that was named after a hero that lost all favour with the gods and died alone on a ship.

And was sailing around on a life or death quest on a ship of that same name.

Jason’s just like oh yeah my dad named me and Sally’s smile almost cracks.
