Mm, it was difficult, but I’ve found an early-ish train. I think it should only take about 2 hours. I imagine I’ll arrive around 13:30 or so? I’ll call before I arrive.

Ah, it sounds lovely. Definitely quite a change from the bustle of Tokyo. Sounds a bit like my home in Kyoto. Just on the edge of the district near Kiyomizu-dera and Mt. Otowa, the trees make a nice haven. Secluded but not overly so.

No trouble, the grandkids are going to be completely occupied elsewhere for the day. ;)

Fujioka is about half bedroom community for Tokyo, somewhere between suburban and rural. Nice and quiet, which also appeals to my interests. An actual neighborhood on one side and farms on the other, though there’s enough trees on my property that I don’t really see the farms much.

But if you prefer, I’m staying at the Prince Park Tower in Shibakoen and I can offer a proper tea or take you to lunch. I will leave the choice up to you, since I’m comfortable with either and I’ve no wish to be intrusive~

The land history was a bit fragmented, it hasn’t been continuously occupied, but it seems there had been a field hospital on the grounds during the Sengoku period. And at least two or four suicides. Of course I haven’t seen any angry ghosts around here in quite some time, but then this house is only about eighty years old and not quite situated where the previous one was. Still intrigued~?

My house is out in Fujioka, Gunma, and while I’m happy to meet you at the station (Gunma-Fujioka, Hachiko Line), I’m just as happy to come into the city if that would be more convenient. I enjoy being a pain in the ass to my editors because it fits my cranky old man persona (and buying a (supposedly) haunted estate appealed to my interests), but that’s my professional life. ww I wouldn’t insist a lovely young lady travel so far out of her way when I don’t even have any shincha to share with her yet~

I’d rather not find myself goodness knows where when I’m refused entry.” Magnus laughed, smoothing his hands over the sleeves of his shirt. “And now you know where I am, don’t be a stranger. There will be an obligatory house-warming gathering once I settle and redecorate.”

To be honest, Isshi hadn’t made enough of a study of the warlock’s craft to be able to say with certainty what would happen if he tried to portal past the wards on the estate walls. At best, the portal would fail to fire and nothing would happen. At worst, well ... it was a big universe. He might not always agree with the warlock’s methods or reasoning, but in general he liked Magnus too much to take such a risk with him.

“Take the time you need, Bane-san, there’s no reason to rush,” he said, smiling a little as he walked with the man to the front door. And then a thought occurred to him.

“You don’t have a problem with children, do you?”

Magnus hummed quietly and sipped his refilled drink, rolling it slowly between his finger and thumb. He knew the Shadowhunters had made themselves a little unwelcome after trying to force their rules, he’d managed to help calm it down but he knew they’d left a mark on peoples minds. But hopefully with things calming, they might be able to slowly integrate again.  He glanced out of the window for a moment, before Isshis words quickly pulled him back again, a light smile on his lips. 

“Well yeah, it isn’t as funny when it happens over and over again. I promise, no shapeshifting as pranks. Well, changing other people that is.” He chuckled softly, crossing one leg over the other as he settled comfortably. He watched Isshi as he spoke of the others, Magnus already pushing through his memories to recall the other people that Isshi wanted him to reconnect with. Vague snippets of memories flashing forward and slowly making a little sense. “I’m fine. Really, I just need a couple of days to settle and I’ll get out and find the others.” He waved one hand lightly. “You’ll get your invite to the house-warming once I settle and redecorate.” Magnus was just moping a little, a moody moment that he would push away as soon as he could. He never liked dwelling too long on the bad parts. Hence just upping and moving away. “Of course I do, and now you know it is me. You are more than welcome to visit whenever.” After the frequency of visitors in America, Magnus had given up even locking his door since people would just arrive and walk in regardless of what might be happening inside. One such occasion being a date getting ruined. “You don’t have to leave, I just intend on a little redecoration and a drink. Jet-leg still affects me even though portal travelling. As I’m sure you’ve experienced as well.”

“It is a bit disorienting, going from mid-afternoon to early morning of a different day,” Isshi agreed, producing a small business card. It used his mundane name, Shinohara Hitoshi, though given that he used the same kanji for both Hitoshi and Isshi... On the back, he neatly and carefully printed the Gunma address of his new estate, then offered the card to his host with both hands.

“Do come to the gate, though. We’ve had some ... trouble with infernals these last few years, the shields might bounce you all the way back into the ocean if they’re in a particularly nasty mood,” he explained with a small but playful smile. He didn’t actually expect it to be a problem, but it didn’t hurt to mention it, even if it cost him a little amusement.

I’m guessing you saw the “first new song in years”. ww Never mind that it’s 12 years old now, and, you know… IV (2008), Jade (2011), Born to Be Free (2015)… but they’re just singles that have been released over the last 9 years, not actual new songs or anything. 

Mm, that was a new low in bad music journalism, I felt professionally offended. ww Isn’t “La Venus” actually the newest song? Or am I getting confused in my old age?
