"The BLT hear is quite good- it looks like it’s prepackaged but that’s for the convenience, everything taste really fresh." She assured him.
She nodded, “I do. I work as the assistant of the Heads of the Department of International Magical Cooperation- you work at the Daily Prophet, right? I guess we really only know each other as flying buddies.”
Ey gave a brief nod, thanking Lucy before placing eir order. "Now the sandwich's got a right old reputation to live up to, Luce. I'll trust it though, even if the price was absolutely mental."
"Talking about jobs atop brooms or whatnot is kinda depressing, don't you think? I might fucking crash or something if I thought about the office mid air. Yeah, working at the Prophet's fine, volatile at times but not too opposed to it. Ministry job sounds decent, always good to have a title, makes you sound pretty impressive."
Molly was seating in her usual spot in a dusty coffee shop near the Leaky Cauldron. The place was busy but not overcrowded and she could easily set all her papers on the table. She still had a mild hangover and as she was trying to decipher one of the official’s loopy writing, the letters kept jumping in front of her eyes. Molly shook her head and it was when she finally heard the cheerful voice arguing with the barista about the coffee cup sizes.
Any other day, she might have let it go, she’d have looked away and gone back to scribbling letters. Today it was just too much, though: the headache, those nonsensical Ministry letters, the fresh bruise on her cheek, pulsating under the covering spell. She just couldn’t help but snap, “Hey, sunshine, we’re not in Starbucks! It’s called tall. One tall latte. Can’t you see the damn sign?”
Georgie did seem like a twat going to a coffee shop to get some tea, but goodness knows ey needed a cuppa or the office was going to really start doubting em, considering how much ey complained about the insignificant work ey did. Asking for Ministry employees wasn’t difficult, but finding where they are at a given time was. If there was some way for Georgie to track people down, ey would do it in a heartbeat. Lining up gave em time to think, brainstorm ideas.
Therefore, it wasn't a problem that the person in front of em was having a row. Their attempt was weak, arguing with a barista over something as useless as a coffee name. There were much better things to poke people on, more fun or meaningful. Someone else intervening would've made it worse, and when just that happened, Georgie couldn't help but retort, interrupting whom it was meant for. "Just let them order their damn drink," ey said loudly, although stringing their words together like a mumble. "No one asked for your opinion, sunshine."
"Oh, what a nice surprise. I didn’t know you’ve went here as well? I was just going to order something to go but would you want company? I still have time on my break."
"That's 'cause I usually don't. I was hoping I could nab something to eat back at the office, but don't even know what to pick. What do you reckon, the stoat or BLT?"
Ey paused. "I wasn't even aware you had a job to take a break from. What's up with that?"
"…and this, is where I always mess up." A glance to the right, then left, as he tries to figure out his position. "Last time I remembered, getting to Madame Malkin’s required a…left, turn here?" The last time Asher had even stepped foot in Diagon Alley had been almost five years ago, as well.
"You could take a left," Georgie said, unusually soft. "It would take you on a lovely tour around Diagon in general, a scenic route," ey added with a rise in eir volume, glancing and flickering eir eyes up and down Asher in confusion. "Seems like your memory's a bit off."
FULL NAME: Georgie Chang — not their birth name, which not only ends in eir muggle father’s Yen, but consists of an old-fashioned sounding female middle name and two Cantonese syllables no one but Cho can pronounce properly.
NICKNAMES: Georgie is fine. Georgie the Great, or the Great is also accepted.
AGE / D.O.B: 20 / 03.12.2006
GENDER: Bigender — there’s no split ‘George’ and ‘Georgia’ for em, it’s just the different facets of masculinity and femininity shining through one individual.
PRONOUNS: she/her & he/him, Spivak when written
HOGWARTS HOUSE: Ravenclaw
ACCENT: what can only be described as a Mancunian lilt — however, having lived in London longer than in Manchester and considering the influences from Hogwarts and the muggle world, it’s a muddled up speech.
ROMANTIC / SEXUAL: Panromantic / Pansexual
OCCUPATION: By day, a reporter-in-training at The Daily Prophet. Normally assigned to wording mildly interesting stories with little substance but occasionally sent out for work of more investigative nature. That’s what they live for. In the evenings, ey’re serving at a bar in muggle London’s trendy centre.
APPEARANCE:
HAIR & STYLE: Black & short, does change colour
HEIGHT: 167 cm / 5’5”
BUILD: Well-built and perhaps a little stocky, not thin at all but too athletic to be bulky. Eir specialty in Quidditch wasn’t necessarily speed, but quick reflexes. For the most part, ey go on strength, which doesn’t derive from their arms but their body in general, eir core. Physically, they’re just very stable. Despite excellent balance, ey still slouch often by choice.
FASHION: Muggle clothing is fun to experiment with. Ey like their snapbacks and shirts, as well as their jackets and skirts. Robes are fun to wear, although those might be going out of fashion. You could catch Georgie commenting on the swishing sound it makes because ey’re totally mature. Eir gender does affect eir dress, as the lack of boxes to slot in allows such individuality to occur. For work, ey just do whatever provided that ey look smart. As long as ey don’t look like ey’re on a night out, anything’s good. That type of attitude is transferred to their general take on eir appearance. Functionality is preferred, but looking good is an added bonus.
TATTOOS: The most obvious is the (occasionally) animated owl near their shoulder blade that was done recently as an ode to eir former house. On eir top wrist is their surname’s Chinese character (鄭, Chang in Cantonese.) enclosed in a circle. Inked by a muggle tattooer on eir nineteenth birthday, it’s a reminder of eir bloodline every time ey cast a spell.
BACKGROUND:
HERITAGE: Chinese, Taiwanese
BLOOD STATUS: Halfblood
BIRTHPLACE: London, UK
HOMETOWN: Manchester, UK — most growing up took place in a Lancashire village where it was quiet and tranquil, meaning ey absolutely hated it.
LANGUAGES: English, Mandarin — although mostly Latin-based incantations are uttered.
EDUCATION: muggle primary school → Hogwarts → Daily Prophet training
PSYCHOLOGY:
HEALTHY: Georgie has a rather fluid exterior, sometimes mistaken for being disloyal or double-dealing. Above all, ey’re diplomatic and humorous, albeit the banter might go a little far at times, but it doesn’t really mean anything. To be fair, if someone did the same, ey’d drop it pretty quickly unlike most. Ey value the tangible word—hence their appreciation of publications—but speaking is a different thing. On paper, ey’re rather eloquent and formal, thought out and analytical; when speaking, the slang—a confusing muggle and wizarding mix—comes out and so do the rapid fire sentences. Their thought process is quick and words that come out don’t mean much, but ey’ll adjust when need be, quick to adapt or retort when necessary. All ey want is to keep a conversation going, because there’s nothing better than discussion. Cho’s popularity was measured by her beauty and loyalty, but Georgie got by with a sharp mind and quick adaptability.
UNHEALTHY: Ey have this attitude where ey’d like to keep control. Not necessarily control that is outright, but some kind of set boundary. Within said boundary, anything can happen and all is game. Georgie tries to be quite open and transparent, flexible in what ey’ll want and need so ey do change things up a lot, mostly for the heck of it. But there is a limit, and when that limit is breached, things get messy. Georgie goes into things headfirst, expecting others to disregard. When it doesn’t all go as expected, their positive passion gets flipped. Georgie freezes and being rigid isn’t good for em. It’s mostly when someone brings something against em personally. Ey’re a very reactive individual, and a steady environment is needed so they can be the driving, ever-changing element within it. Their adaptability is suited for sudden curves in life, but U-turns will throw them off like they would with anyone else. It’s almost scary how willing they get, but soon enough, ey’ll return to their sparring, joking state. There’s nothing necessarily right nor wrong with this, but it’s confusing and difficult for others to handle.
JUNG TYPE: ENTP
ENNEAGRAM: 7w8 so/sx
MORAL ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral
LIKES: jinxing others, muggle technology, anything readable (the back of a cereal box, newspapers, magazines, novels, anything), following the Quidditch League, writing columns over reports, talking for a long time, tea in the morning
DISLIKES: sensitive folks, being bored, listening, most (if not, all) authority, convention, the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, being misconstrued, unnecessary sentimentality, those blasé towards their wit, solitude
FEARS: regretting eir actions, being irrelevant, losing, excessive recklessness for the worst
BOGGART: Being useless, not being absolutely brilliant (manifested in eir mother telling them so)
EXTRA INFORMATION:
HOBBIES: reading, writing opinionated pieces, playing Quidditch or football, observing any sport, sudoku or anything to keep their brain in check
HABITS / PRESENCE: The ever annoying Georgie Chang foot tap. It’s not even rhythmic, more of an erratic accompaniment to whatever they’re saying. Sometimes, it’s less of a tap and more of a leg bounce. That’s just part of Georgie’s fidgety leanings, but probably the most noticeable. Ey’ll scrawl things down with a pen randomly (not that proper journalism needs to be done by hand) or do something rather mindless. It’s really not, but that’s what it seems to others. Supposedly, Georgie is an open book, expressing their emotions and thoughts without restraint. Eir eyes lighten up when ey engage in conversation and eir a constant smirk, but what goes on behind the twinkling eyes is beyond anyone. Chang will switch the force of the interaction between emself and the other, but is firm either way. Eir also a physical talker, using gestures and emotions as well as pointing and being that expressive.
LIFESTYLE: Georgie’s life sounds mundane at best. Waking up earlier to hang round Diagon Alley occurs every morning and the only time ey’ll allow themselves to read. Ey’re not opposed to drugs, smoking or inhaling anything but ey wouldn’t take anything in often. The only exceptions are caffeine and alcohol. Both derived from some form of social pressure, even then, eir mind admittedly becomes less sharp. It’s something ey hate but ey’ve just got used to it. While ey’re still relatively young, being fun-loving isn’t a problem. What goes on after work has finished doesn’t matter so long as ey can drag emself back in the morning.
RESIDENCE: Wizarding London’s key areas are where the muggle’s ones are too. Their importance hitches the price straight up, meaning it’s a pain to pay. I’d imagine Georgie would live somewhere more south in London, and it’s a more cosier, perhaps even spacious of a flat compared to a closet nearer the city centre. It’s a constant mess. Georgie wouldn’t bother when 'accio' is a mutter away. Georgie enjoys taking the broom up to work at Diagon Alley, but Apparition usually does it. If ey’re too drunk in the evening, they’ll just take the muggle train home.
RELATIONS:
FAMILIAL: Cho did her best to be a good mother and all, but it seemed a little distant at times. No doubt was Georgie a difficult child to raise anyway with eir excited and curious nature constantly getting emself into situations from electric sockets to heated arguments, but there was a warmth that was missing. However, entry to Hogwarts consolidated the relationship that was hanging only a thread. There was something about Georgie getting along with other students well, playing for the Quidditch team and being in Ravenclaw that sparked something in eir mum. Eir muggle father provides calm and reason for Georgie. He barely disciplined em and his only request was for em to keep up an appearance in the muggle world, no matter how illegal it might be. His distrust of the magical community does makes em nervous.
PLATONIC: see below—”painfully platonic”
ROMANTIC: During eir school years, ey dated a few people here and there, never anything particularly serious. Although Georgie likes to joke that ey’re much better at being single. Commitment has never been eir strong point, and neither has pure romance. Being in a relationship with Georgie is just like being friends but sometimes you make out. It’s not like ey can’t be giggly or have passion. Ey’ve just never had much chance to do so. Georgie is very focused on emself and the environment, hence paying attention to another partner tends to go awry too. I’m not desperate for a romantic plot, thus it's not outright listed below. Chemistry will go wherever it needs to.
PLOTS / IDEAS:
"THEY’RE FAMILIAR" — Ending with an ‘r’ instead of ‘l’, there’s probably no blood relationships anytime soon. However, growing up together or getting on well early on Hogwarts with a tight bond is probably the closest thing. Until Hogwarts, family friends were Georgie’s only exposure to magic so this would be rather formative. Whether or not the familiarity continues, is a whole different matter.
"PAINFULLY PLATONIC" — People just to be super buddy buddy with. This kind of relationship is highly valued by Georgie. They’ll have a high tolerance level for Georgie; although it’s not required, it would help. Those who hold grudges easily or are uptight individuals aren’t ideal, so ey prefer more easy-going types who acknowledge that Georgie isn’t being serious more often than ey are.
"QUIDDITCH MATES" — Georgie adores Quidditch so much. They change their favourite team every year, because quite frankly, it’s far more logical to support the winning team of the season than to stick with one through losses. That’s boring. Attending matches, discussing it, playing it, betting on it, because bloody Quidditch.
"HEY ROOMIE" — Considering they’re already on the outside of central Muggle London, rent still isn’t cheap. I’ll probably figure something out if there’s no takers but Georgie would be a terrible roommate and this would so good. Ey do things how they want it and when they want it, so conflict is bound to pop up.
"UNREQUITED LOVE" — Love has always been so casual and easy for Georgie but what would be fun, is if ey fell in love, just dragged themselves so deep into infatuation that it crashes and burns, making it too awkward for both parties. Or, vice versa with Georgie not returning the feelings. I’m totally up for requited love too but that requires chemistry while this doesn’t necessarily!
"SPARRING PARTNER" — There’s nothing like having a good dialogue about something. Georgie doesn’t tend to hold opinions strongly and never takes anything seriously so their side in any conversation changes. Whether it’s intellectually demanding or not doesn’t matter. It’s just fun to have opposition.
"SOMETHING OFF" —Only so many can tolerate Georgie. The politeness and openness concerning dislike towards em can vary, but Georgie is turned off by sensitive and uptight individuals. Ey’ll insist that the other party just needs to let go, but Georgie probably said something that’s hard to forgive or forget.
ANYTHING, HONESTLY — If the titles above didn’t indicate anything, then I’ll just say that I’m not the most creative for connections and plots, and I’m utterly happy to follow along with anything. I’ll put a link to a connections page soon. Please note that I’m incredibly shy but I will try to reach people so please don’t hesitate to send me ideas and asks either.

Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.
early life & family: When the transition of a Wizarding world integrating with the Muggle one began, no one could be more happy to follow along then Georgie; it seemed they had always lived on the limbo between magic and muggle, half committed to both. Eir father loved and understood eir mother Cho unconditionally, but the Wizarding world itself was a different question. He thought of it so backward and primitive, wanting Cho to move on, but her and Georgie were both adamant. When the subject of raising Georgie came up, a compromise was stricken. As a child, ey frequented Diagon Alley on the weekends, visited magical family friends. On the weekdays, they lived in the muggle world, unable to experience or indulge in a world no one else knew. Despite the ceasefire to eir parents’ arguments that had been agreed, that didn’t mean the fighting stopped. There was never a real threat to stability, which the family wanted more than anything, especially since they always decided put em and eir baby brother over anything between them; it didn’t make Georgie feel any less guilty about the constant tension and anxiousness eir parents had, seemingly caused by em. In a small and rural town up north, there was no point in making a show of themselves. It wasn’t the healthiest functioning arrangement, but it certainly got the Yen's through their marriage.
There was Georgie’s father David, a muggle accountant; eir mother, Cho, who theoretically could’ve been a good mum but was always a little distant—something Georgie has yet to realise was a percussion of the Battle; and baby brother Jason, who has just started his first year at Hogwarts. The family eventually settled in Manchester a few years ago. Upon graduation, Georgie moved to London immediately. Cities are nice and all, but Georgie misses being able to practice Quidditch more freely.
education & work: The acceptance letter to Hogwarts sparked a connection with eir mother that ey’d never had before, even prompting them to start going by Cho’s surname instead. It was difficult to live up to Cho especially a reputation ey were unware of. The Cho today was a very different one to the one described to em. Sure, other kids with far more famous parents seemed to survive fine in post-War Hogwarts, but Cho was so popular and successful too to a mild degree. Regardless, Georgie steadily became Ravenclaw’s keeper and an approachable individual—seemingly like Cho, but obviously a little different. Immersing emself into the Wizarding world came first, but attempting to live up to Cho Chang came a close second.
Throughout eir time at Hogwarts, Georgie would submit odd things to various wizarding publications, hoping to get something published, but it wasn’t until the end of eir time there did eir persistence give fruitful results. Seventh year was spent balancing column writing for a small magazine and preparing for exams, and although ey never managed eir time quite right, it did end up with an internship at the Daily Prophet; it doesn't require a lot of hours but it's a step closer to being able to write fully for it, even if Georgie doesn't know what ey're doing most of the time. Georgie is proud to say that ey contribute to a major publication—despite minor disagreements with their morals here and there, yet Georgie can't help but love that investigative nature of journalism—but ey also work at a bar to keep themselves afloat in muggle London.
day to day life: There are three great loves of eirs, sports, eating and reading. Georgie may have enjoyed a very successful school career as a Keeper, but after Hogwarts, ey've slacked a little. The foundation will always remain, because ey didn't keep themselves fit enough to wear the kit and fly around just to waste it. They've still go the interest: keeping track of their latest favourite team and dusting off the broom once in a while. Same goes for muggle football, with a kick about being happily accepted and eir support between Man United and Man City shifting every so often. They usually get to Diagon Alley earlier in the morning than they can to read a page or two from Seeker Weekly, usually resting in Florean Fortescue's parlour. Most of the work ey do at the Daily Prophet are small articles, boring research to chase, but ey're hoping for a regular column someday. After Prophet work ends, ey'll have a peek in one of the book shops before heading off to the Leaky Cauldron for a much needed drink and chat before hoping ey're only a little tipsy and nothing more before hopping off to muggle work.
gender & sexuality: It wasn’t until third year that their lifelong questions were realised. As a bigender individual, they feel both male and female. It’s not a split personality, as the different working parts of masculinity and femininity work together for one individual. Labels aren’t the best, and it took a while for the word to be accustomed on eir lips, but the definition rang true for Georgie in the end. For the sake of written language, Georgie doesn’t mind Spivak as it differentiates from they which has the plural connotation. However, in day-to-day speech, ey’ll encourage others to interchangeably use traditional male and female pronouns. They’re pansexual and panromantic. Most of their experience has leaned towards females, but males and non-binary folk are never ruled out.
general relations: Platonic relationships are strongly valued by Georgie. Ey need someone to joke about with, have a pint or watch sport with. Those who hold grudges easily or are uptight individuals aren’t ideal, so ey prefer more easy-going types who acknowledge that Georgie isn’t being serious more often than ey are. It’s not easy to deal with. During eir school years, ey dated a few people here and there, never anything particularly serious. Although Georgie likes to joke that ey’re much better at being single. Commitment has never been eir strong point.
familial relations: Cho and eir’s relationship has always been odd. Cho did her best to be a good mother and all, but it seemed a little distant at times. It’s resulted in flashes of bonding, but it’s never been particularly better. Eir muggle father provides calm and reason for Georgie. He barely disciplined em and his only request was for em to keep up an appearance in the muggle world, no matter how illegal it might be. His distrust of the magical community does makes em nervous. Muggle culture is irresistible at times, so Georgie agreed for the sake of it.
other things of note: Georgie has a habit of bouncing and tapping eir foot. Chinese superstition dictates it a bad one causing poverty so it would irritate eir dad to no end, although eir mother would promptly tell off her husband because it was only “muggle superstition”. Little disputes like that were often and added to the constant tension, but it was moments like this that were a more positive spin during their childhood. It’s really just how Georgie can’t stand still and can’t stand still and serene.
Eir magic ability isn’t the best, but Georgie has always had a good foundation. Ey don’t like sticking to rules and experimenting is fun once in a while. Spell creation is something ey’ve taken interest in, but never really purused. There was never one field of magic that particularly appealed to em immensely. What Georgie does love is the spells themselves; most of all, the incantations, especially how they’re spoken and where they derive from. Non-verbal magic is no fun to em. However, Georgie does like jinxing people for a laugh, probably does it more than they should. That’s where the non-verbal comes in to preserve the surprise of it.
The International Statute being repelled would probably be the best thing to happen to Georgie, even though that wouldn’t happen despite the press release. Ey prides emself on not breaking it completely while almost living half way between the worlds. By far, ey would have the smoothest transition. It was far more difficult before. Whether it was the annoying muggle roommate that they’d eventually kick out because Georgie was close to jinxing them, to the time they were tempted to use some potions to beat some teenage thugs at football. Restraint isn’t their specialty. There’s both flaws and strengths in the worlds, but Georgie is the kind to try to milk the benefits of both.
Character interpretation:
Georgie has a rather fluid exterior. Their thought process is quick and words that come out don’t mean much, but ey’ll adjust when need be, quick to adapt or retort when necessary. All ey want is to keep a conversation going, because there's nothing better than discussion. Cho's popularity was measured by her beauty and loyalty, but Georgie got by with a sharp mind and quick adaptability.
Ey have this attitude where ey'd like to keep control. Not necessarily control that is outright, but some kind of set boundary. Within said boundary, anything can happen and all is game. Georgie tries to be quite open and transparent, flexible in what ey'll want and need so ey do change things up a lot, mostly for the heck of it. But there is a limit, and when that limit is breached, things get messy. Georgie goes into things headfirst, expecting others to disregard. When it doesn't all go as expected, their positive passion gets flipped. Georgie freezes and being rigid isn't good for em. It's mostly when someone brings something against em personally. Ey're a very reactive individual, and a steady environment is needed so they can be the driving, ever-changing element within it. Their adaptability is suited for sudden curves in life, but U-turns will throw them off like they would with anyone else. It's almost scary how willing they get, but soon enough, ey'll return to their sparring, joking state. There's nothing necessarily right nor wrong with this, but it's confusing and difficult for others to handle.
