Ah, tooth pain is it madam?
A very successful first event portraying a surgeon in the Royal Navy, wearing the coat I made.
Well, it's been a long time since I've posted but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy! Amongst other projects, here is a 1790's Royal Navy midshipman's coat I have made.
I have just finished binding this 1740's edition of A Treatise of The Operations of Surgery.
A few of the guys and I put on a Georgian banquet this month as part of a training weekend. Great spread!
Charity shop find of the day. A blue and white porcelain tea bowl. It's not 100% right but it will make for a lovely piece for my coffee house.
I've just painted this large white bowl with a Delft style design of around the 1770's. It will serve as a punch bowl in my coffee house. Currently looking at a few silver ladles on eBay which would finish this set off beautifully. Your Servant, Mr. Radford
I’ve been busy!
A 1780’s frock coat of beautiful dove grey wool.
The bulk of the coat is now complete and I’m just working on the adornments like these death head buttons.
Met this lil' dingus at an event last week.
Busy making a pattern from scratch for my late C18th civilian coat. Wish me luck...
I recently painted up these cheap porcelain tea bowls, from eBay. They'll make a nice addition to the display. Hoping to paint something bigger, maybe a punch bowl.
Started a waistcoat today and nearly finished it! Since taking the picture I've finished one of the pockets and marked the buttonholes on the other. Need to find some buttons for it now!
Have you ever made a quill?
I have, but not with great success.I was using a feather I found and just rushed it.There's lots of tutorials available online, if you want to have a go.One thing I want to try is making ink from candleblack. That looks interesting.
Just spent a great weekend with the lads of the Society of King George the Third, at the Greenwich Tall Ships Festival.
Lots of great photos and I’ve just found the feature of tumblr that lets you upload bursts as GIFs. Brilliant!
Three of us portraying RN ratings and 2 Marines of around 1790.
Posted on the wrong Tumblr! 😂
Spent the afternoon making a new shirt. So close to finishing when I ran out of thread!
