The whimsy of the ampersand as caught in fertile marble. Todayâs era of electronic communications has reappropriated a punticilous directive not found often in texts. By sheer tenaculitousness of ubiquity, the circle with locks, has been reborn from the vestige of obscurity into prominence of widespread utilimization.
The caloric quantance of post vernal season is cusping towards more agoran activities. The hum of artificial weather quelled, sol calls in its subsided form. Yet, internally, here is another work of beauty exceeding in its super infiniteness expressing form calorification of any celestial body, and when cast without shadow, still such brightness.
As Spring dawns, though not so eternal here in parched, scarrificated, Arizona, yet in illustration above, can not some of natureâs more grandiferous of designs become the tableaux for abstraction? Indeed, as a wrought and hewn of the stunted African Walnut, not of the Gallic, royalty of deciduousness of Europe, the materials themselves, solid pieces not spliced, kerfed, or butted, rival in munitarifiness alone. Impressive, as the choice of materials and formification envought the genome not of sanguine but climate between my home and this fine work of abstraction. Indigenony of an arified, aqualesscentness, so to their perpetuity of couture, or there lack of, becomes what my own abodeâs home and her population, unbenightest of this pieceâs inner metaphysics, transmogrify as only botanimical specimens illustrate.
The start of a new year, and itâs first moon. More appropo couldnât be obtained than this illustrative piece from the great Calder. The ink bottle and easel are not so foreign to Calder that he was unable to create this fine rendering as part of a series almost Picassoesque - perhaps Picassoâs damanaruge period?
Best wishes from Arizona and hoping all had a fruitful past year and hereâs to reaping the benefits this year.
Continuing last postâs theme of aquataciticisms, todayâs sculpture of finely wrought, chrome electroplated steel at perusalâs first chance, seems incongregate. All that glitters may not be gold, surely stated by the fanciful play of sunlight on turbulent water. In some parts such pollution as plankton and the biology of the substance can render a different hue, yet the romanticism that has been paramount in the inspiration of many a poetâs work seems not so distant at all when thought is given to this work. Complementing the vertriginious of waterâs forms, complex, and of abundance, simplified to the mere essence of motion, the acrylic base stands in sharp contrast yet in todayâs climate of modernity, what other pedestal could suffice?
Untwisting the Gordian Knot caused many a hero to falter in classical mythology, and so too with this piece as so titled. For the trained eye, something of a confrustructure is telerpitated through uneventual catharsis. An analge of no resolvement unto which perputuity prevails eternal as so redundant.
For materials, it is simplicity itself: bronze, cast, rolled, twisted polished, by any other method perchance is the black anodization a perfect butress of the long, infinite digression.
The work in the foreground of the above illustration is an ample compliment to the work depicted in my post directly previously. The flat disks of the records so seemingly easily adapted serve this semi abstract though illustrative workâs purpose: depicting something quite foreign to the arid desert where most of my business is conducted on usual.
Yet this same arid heat would be indeed conducive to the maleaforming of art upon such subject matter as yet the artist has evoked yet another aspect of water: the waterfall, and itâs sinuous curves of effervescent fluid always in motion.
Though such formability is of little or no consequence to the workâs artist, as the discarded pop records it is built of have no flexure or warpage from their original state. What sounds such a cavalcade of an avalanche of fluids would make are akin to listening to warped pop recordings! An interesting pun yet many find the sound of the ocean rather soothing, as do some the sound of raucous pop music.
The consensus among many an erudite connoisseur that abstraction in art has become a pase iterative mode, neglects to annotate itself with the increasing contention of abstraction worming into the figurative manifesto.
The sculpture in the photo above, celebrating a negro slave womanâs freedom from the oppression and despair of the slaveship Amistad, is undoubtably the refutation of all manifestos propousing the ânewâ school of sculpture. Surely, the sweeping lines and streamlining an otherwise vulgar body into a pleasing shape is the evidence yearned for by the afficinado of abstraction.
Often in displaying sculpture, the tete aâ teteâs focus is upon deciding the correct spatial locus of the piece in mind. Exhibition of mixed form and execution can impart the impression, when viewing itâs entirety, of works not within the artistâs original oevre. As a purveyor, such considerations are especially important, as when works out of their womb, arranged in a new gallery, from there to their new ownerâs panorama, leads on occasion to disappointment. The purveyorâs work need not end at the gallery doorstep, gentle encouragement and coaxing of the customerâs collection leads to their more encompassing satisfaction.
Calder, best known for his mobiles, is not a foreigner in the world of stationary statuepique. A precursor to the predominance of the expressionistic modernity in todayâs popular figurative sculpture, this work, not predating his mobiles, is his premonition of todayâs artistic vogue. Incidentally, if one thought that this work may once have graced the ceiling and not the gallery floor, one can only have jumped to conclusions not founded in a firm study of this great artistâs repertoire. The deliberateness of form coalescing into figurative functionality, certainly belies such notions. Yet still, a small penchant of Calderâs main forte is evident in the dangling aspects in the lower part of the work.
Another amazing piece of abstract scuptureium. Note how the subtle impression of faces is not overdone. Once again is demonstrated that plastics are not the absolom of artâs apothogee.
I hope everyoneâs last year was bountiful and prosperous, and letâs hope â16 is as good as the last.
Unique and intriguing spaces can be as exciting and fascinating to explore as the works contained within. Here, an unique lighting and colored walls have created a work in itself, framing the sub work in a subcontext of infused vividness.
Burning Man Festival
This is my last post concerning the Burning Man Festival. Originally I posted the contents below 2 weeks ago, but somehow the post was deleted,
I met an interesting couple at Burning Man, a very handsome young man and his beautiful, very alluring wife, Our mutual interest in modern art seemed to form a strong commonality between us, and soon I was invited to their rugged looking RV. The interior is in keeping with the exterior in that the inside is rather spartan, except for the most extensive computer and communications suite that I have ever seen and would undoubtedly be the envy of the joint chiefs of staff of the Pentagon. My cell phone reception, once on their network ,was the clearest it has ever been, so much so that it was as if I had purchased a vastly upgraded. phone. The upload and download speeds on my laptop were so quick that I received errors on my computer - âerror: bus speed exceeded, data overloadâ, âerror: data exceeds LAN capacityâ or something to that effect, which situation only became ameliorated when the young woman attenuated the data transfer rate. It seemed only natural, since the womanly part of the couple is an executive at a large phone company.
I was invited to dinner, and over a plate of what the couple referred to as ânunionsâ, but were really hamburgers with onions, they discussed what the couple kept referring to as the âboining manâ festival. I think their accents were merely an affectation in jest, and we had a very lively discussion about the festival.
There was bad news on the wind. Very unfortunately, the young woman became sick, I believe it was heat stroke, and the couple decided they needed to make an abrupt departure. Itâs very common that participants are the victims of some sort of calamity. illness or otherwise. Luckily, the situation did not result in a fatality, which has been a terrible byproduct of this yearâs festival and in the past.
Out of sympathy, I extended my hospitality and invited the couple to visit one of my homes close by the festival to recuperate.
Thereâs nothing special about this structure in spite of its unusual exterior and location. In actuality, it is a prefab building and the land on which is itâs current home is naturally very inexpensive. We did not stay however, since the central air was on the fritz and the weather in the Nevada desert in September is savage to say the least. Since here was no better than at the festival, I invited the couple to my main home.
During the day or two the couple stayed, we had many interesting discussions. Interestingly, the couple met on Tumblr, but werenât very happy with it and havenât been very active lately. For my part, a slight glitch here and there hasnât soured my opinion of Tumblr, and I am quite happy here.
We arenât married. Heâs my boyfriend LOL!
I am very sorry, please accept my apology.

Another intriguing work of art in our nationâs galleries. A semi abstract representational work whose color palette is in no way foreign to either style.
