LATINXS/HISPANICS OF TUMBLR:

i do not see nearly enough selfies and photographs of hispanic/latinx bloggers on my dash. i’ve also noticed that our culture tends to be twisted by cinco de mayo, which, in the usa, has become a drinking holiday. so, to remedy this issues, i’ve come up with an idea to kill two birds with one stone. i propose that we make may 5th, 2015, the first ever MIRAME event on tumblr.

MIRAME will be a visibility day for hispanic and latinx bloggers of all types. no matter what country you come from or what color your skin is, i want to see you participate in MIRAME. this is a day for all people of latin american, south american, and european spanish descent—no matter what size, shape, gender, sexuality, or religion. i want to make MIRAME about all of us. i want to see everyone’s beautiful faces!

Can we actually get this going? Can we make this about more than just selfies (don’t get me wrong they are great) but also about educating the world on how amazing our culture is, all the accomplishment we don’t get credit for, all the amazing parts that make us who we are? Can we post selfies, art work, historical events, stories and anything else that makes us proud to be latinx?
