Hello everyone! \(^o^)/ I'm back (still on Artfight wowzers) to discuss some extra stuff about the protagonist...aka YOU.
More specifically I want to get some details clear about you, the former friends plus some extra stuff I may have changed or want to put in here for notes. This page includes my art lol.
First things first: I actually decided to change the Archon Quest's location for the story. Instead of [Name] coming after the Traveller during Fontaine's A.Q, the Traveller and [Name] will meet and have their journeys intersect in Inazuma. This is because I wanted La Signora (and her death) to be important to the plots...also the gnoses are going to be important to [Name]'s plan to get out of Genshin.
Also yes I see the winner now. Lumine will be the Traveler for this story. I did write these notes weeks before so any mentions of "Traveler," just think Lumine.
...and I really apologize for the long LONG rant on here, I just tried to bring together how certain stuff might work while trying to be realistic. Also there is a drawing of [Name] in here :D
----
INTERMISSION:
Now we talk about You...aka [Name]. Now I don't want to have a lot of details of you set by me, after all this is meant to be a self insert story. However some details are written the way they are because it needs to fit with the lore plus helps write some potential plot points later.
Your name is obviously [Name] (first and last name if you wish). Your hair, skin tone, birthday, height, eye color, ethnicity and whatever you want is up completely to you. This is the reflection of you after all.
Now here are the concrete details about [Name] and the supposed friends (like [F1/N], [F2/N] and [F3/N]) that I have written out for the story.
(1)
When you were isekai'd to Genshin with your friends-- you and the friends were around the age range of 17-18. This is because you all were highschool seniors.
You were 17 at the time.
[F1/N] was 17, about to turn 18 in only two weeks.
[F2/N] and [F3/N] were already 18 for a while.
Another important aspect to this is that when you were all isekai'd, it happened before the full Snezhnaya release. So you guys don't actually know EVERYTHING everything.
With the adding of 5 years, this would make you 22 years old at the time of this story starting for [Name].
I also tried to figure out how long the Traveler would have been staying in Teyvat for but I couldn't find a concrete answer. Plenty of people say that the time for Teyvat is the same as irl so "since Genshin released 6 years ago then the Traveler (Lumine) was in Teyvat for 6 years" tyep of deal. But personally I feel like that is a bit too long? If the Traveler is really trying to find their sibling then I would assume that they wouldn't say in the same place for too long...and I'm supposed to assume that the Traveler stays a full year in each nation until they get access to the next one? I feel like that just doesn't work or make sense. I know people say that maybe the Traveler was training or getting better at stuff before they left but still a full year in each nation feels like too much. So instead, I'm going to do a maximum of 6 months in each nation unless there is extra time needed to stay for the plot.
So because of how the story will progress time wise now-- the timeline is like this:
Age of [Name] when they (along with friends) were isekai'd:
- 17 yrs
A/[Name] when [F1/N] and [F3/N] died:
- 19 yrs
A/[Name] when [F2/N] died:
- 20 yrs
A/[Name] when Traveller came to Mondstadt:
- 21 yrs (newly turned)
A/[Name] when Traveller came to Liyue:
- 21 1/2 yrs
A/[Name] when Traveller came to Inazuma (when the story truly starts):
- 22 yrs
(2)
Because you all had the rule of "Let's NOT get involved in the main plot until the Traveler gets in game," naturally there were three places/nations where you guys didn't create wave points (teleportation points).
Exhibit A: INAZUMA
This is due obviously to the military rule and government going on by the Shogun. Even though there is four of you guys, again the rule is in place.
Exhibit B: NOD-KRAI
Even though the nation isn't even really a part of Teyvat and is an autonomous region...plenty of Fatui are there. It was best to not risk it.
Exhibit C: SNEZHNAYA
Once again...the literal FATUI AND THE TSARITSA ARE HERE. This is basically a death wish. None of you guys wanted to even attempt it. Also because you all came before the full Snezhnaya region release, this basically felt like unknown territory with potential cryptids at every corner...so yeah no attempts even tried.
(3)
Neither you or your friends have actual visions. This is due to all of you being decsenders and obviously not being from Teyvat. None of you are recognized by Celestia-- thus it couldn't happen.
However...this doesn't mean that you guys didn't have elemental powers.
Because descenders' bodies can act as conduits for elements (like with the third descender used to create the gnoses...and also the Traveler can literally do this in resonating with elements), this applies to you and your friends. You all had eventually figured this out a couple months in your stay in Genshin so yes for plenty of the time, you all were using the elements.
[F1/N] liked Anemo
[F2/N] was a Hydro main,
[F3/N] was using Geo as their main backer
And you like using whatever type of element is your favorite. This part is completely up to you.
(NOTE: Going back to Point 2 about not going to certain locations, this also means that neither you or your friends had ever dabled in using Electro, Pyro Cryo. After all the Traveler couldn't originally use Pyro due to the corrupted Ley Lines. So the rest of the elements like Anemo, Geo, Dendro, Hydro are free game). And yes, you guys can switch from element to element like with the Traveler.
(4)
You and [F2/N] had actually figured out a way to change elements in usage without even needing to go to the Statues of the Seven. Due to a mix of [F2/N] being a tech nerd and you remembering the extra lore on statues and gnoses...you two had created a little device that wraps around your wrist with the intention of pretending it is an actual vision. And whenever you intended to switch elements, the so called "vision" will change inside to accommodate it.
(However during the creation process was also when [F2/N] had died so you had to do the rest of it by yourself.)
I'm not going to spoil how on it works yet because that will become a piece in the plot later...but just know it does have something to do with descender bodies being an elemental conduit...
And...someone may have potentially helped you after you lost the help from [F2/N]...and now this leads to:
(5)
After all of your friends had passed, you did begin to bend the "Interfering with the Traveler (Lumine) Plot" rule a tinnny bit. While you didn't do Archon Quests or anything major, you did talk to a few characters who are important to said quests. As for who they are, that will be revealed in upcoming chapters. You also did a few World Quests because you wanted certain things that could only be acquired by said quests...one example is weapons.
(Key note here: You only spoke to the characters once or twice, you never actually made them your allies or friends.)
(6)
Because you and the Traveler (Lumine) are both Descenders...technically you both can do similar things though with obvious differences (such as using Waypoints, using Elemental Sight, etc etc).
However because you are most certainly human compared to the Traveler (we all remember at scene at the very beginning of the game) you have less endurance, defense and health compared to Lumine. So there are moments where you can definitely be vulnerable.
(7)
You might be asking "how did no one know that [Name] and their friends were descenders for 5 years?"
Well for one thing-- even in the first few months of being in Genshin, everyone pretended to be outlanders. People who weren't from Teyvat...basically saying everyone in the group was a Traveler from another country. Due to the accents, the clothes and the initial excitement of being in Teyvat...it was easy to convince others that you all were just tourists. This is also why the Fatui didn't jump you all when first spawning in.
But now that years have passed by, you'd think that maybe you would have slipped up at some point right? Especially because you are the only one left and you had began to bent the Big Rule a bit.
Well this is actually a still no. No one actually truly knows your (or your friends' identities) as descenders. This is due to you refusing to talk about your status to anyone, refusing to get involved in major events AND you constantly move around Teyvat (so akin to a constantly travelling explorer).
If anyone ever asked you where you originally came from, you always just say that you are someone from outside of Teyvat who decided to live there permanently (that covers the accent bit, your mannerisms and potentially clothes). You also give false names and use said names for the regions you go into while praying no one actually connects the dots. Some of the names you currently use depending on the region are the following:
Mondstadt: "Mika"
Liyue: "Lan"
Sumeru: "Finch"
Fontaine: "Laurence"
Natlan: "Anu"
Since you never get involved in anything major, are not a part of big organizations or factions, don't have an active social life-- no one really looks into you. And it is once again made harder by the fact that you don't stay in the same place for long and don't follow a specific pattern of where to go next. One day you may be in Fontaine, the next you are in a hotel in Natlan kind of deal. You also make mora by occasionally selling ingredients and stuff you have crafted. So you are not poor but you are definitely not rich either...
NOW the drawn reference for [Name] attached below:
(Since you are currently living on the rural outskirts of Sumeru, you are trying to look like you belong there. Also you are trying to pretend to be a Dendro used at the initial first few chapters of the story).
Any extra stuff I need to keep in mind I'll just put here so wow.
Also I'm trying to think about how the Wish system works and how to translate it into this story. Because obviously Lumine would have already had some people who they get in the character dossier (Amber, Kaeya, etc). And maybe they wish for other characters. So I'm trying to picture how would this work in the story. Like are the characters in her party just following her around and flanking her? Are they there is it to give defense? Do they leave the room when an important scene happens or are they like with Lumine in spirit??
Also if the Traveler can make wishes this does mean that [Name] can also make character wishes too? I'm seriously trying to figure this out oh god.
Anyways gtg and brb with actual Chapter 1
I do want to ask a question to you guys.
Which iteration of the Traveler do you want seen portrayed? Because while Hoyo does use Aether more for promotional art, etc etc and I see people tend to write Aether for fanfiction often-- I also know some people like Lumine and maybe some people want a change in the norm? Maybe you guys want a switch and want something new? I don't know, you guys please let me know which Traveler you want for the SAGAU story.

Aether or Lumine? Y'all pick.
Aether
Lumine
Also unrelated; idk if it is just me but are NPCs/characters nicer to Lumine over Aether?? Because it feels like it from interaction to interaction. Like with how Varka talked to them in the hotel room, etc etc
WELL I GOT TOO EXCITED FOR THE CONCEPT SO YEAH I have a small chapter. I'll probably continue writing this but I'm gonna be busy for Artfight for the next few weeks so aaaaaaaa. Anyways here is the prologue.
- [Name] is obviously you.
- [F1/N], [F2/N], and [F3/N] is "Friend Name" but is organized by number order.

CHAPTER 0: Bygone Times
The memories of that day...are fuzzy at best.
You don't remember exactly how it happened, all that is clear is that one moment-- you were sitting on your stomach on the hard floor of your room, surrounded by friends while chatting and looking at your screens...the next, you were falling.
So many things had flashed before your eyes, colors you didn't even know existed, memories you swore that didn't belong to you...it almost became a blur. The fall had to have been less than 15 seconds, yet it felt like an eternity due to the growing gnawing pit of fear in your stomach. Soon, the red and yellow gradient of a sky in sunset greeted your eyes yet that was view was short lived as you finally landed in the water. You didn't even have a second to react to cover your nose.
Everything went black, just like that, but the void wasn't there forever. As soon as it came, it also left. When you opened your eyes you could feel a crustiness growing around the corners, either from tears or the sand that was below you. The sound of water laping at the ground had also finally hit you though it took longer to notice due to the incoming pounding headache. Looking around the location didn't give many clues, if any at all for the first few moments. Only a feeling of familiarity laid beneath the surface. Two cliffsides were at either side of the beach and only a couple of trees and other bits of greenery were further inland. It was only after you looked down at yourself did you realize why that was the case.
Your hands...they didn't look like your hands anymore.
Atleast not in the way you were used to.
Your hands looked smooth...almost in that cartoonish way that stripped away bits of realism. No hair at the knuckles, barely any wrinkles or crevices when you bent the fingers, the fingernails were there but it wasn't that obvious. But your hand didn't look 2D, it was clearly 3D.
In that moment did it finally click to you why everything looked familiar. Somehow, you were in Genshin.
The place you were in...the same one where the Traveler first woke up in at the start of the game.
The sudden nudge at your calf almost made you scream, sending your head over your shoulder to see what it was. To your surprise you could already recognize who it was. It was one of your friends, [F1/N], even in the rendering of this world you could clearly tell it was them.
Atleast you weren't alone here.
You painstakingly crawled over to them, calling out to them as you hovered a hand over their shoulder. Their groans were becoming more audible as you closed the gap. Whether you said something to [F1/N] or not wasn't clear but afterwards you heard another familiar voice.
"[Name]?! [F1/N]??! [F3/N]!? Guys?!??"
[F2/N].
They had clearly woke up before you, how long ago...you didn't know. Shooting your head up, your eyes locked with [F2/N]'s. One of their hands was over their forehead and the other was on the back of their neck. Noticing you and [F1/N] were finally awake, they ran over, the wet sand getting stuck to their feet as they came. Soon, you both were back on your feet. As you looked further out to the stretching sand, you could finally see [F3/N] albeit they were still unresponsive.
None of you could have really done much that night. The last you remember was all of you went into a small cave that was embedded in the cliffside, the entrance surrounded by shrubs. [F3/N] had finally woke up and only then did it sink for everyone that they were all in another world. One that was far from home.
But atleast you weren't alone here.
...
Unsurprisingly the first few months were that of joy. You all went everywhere, scattering yourselves like ants while being excited at the thought of being in a fictional universe. Your favorite characters were all real and could technically talk to you.
Technically in the sense you could walk up to them, that didn't mean they could understand you however. That was the first roadblock. No one could speak English at all so everytime you and the group spoke in public, people gave glances.
It took time to really begin to understand how to speak to everyone, you all would catch words and eventually realize what they meant days later. Soon everyone, including you, could speak the language of Mondstadt albeit it was a bit clunky. Anytime someone asked you or your friends about the accent or where did you all come from, everyone had to pretend to be from outside of Teyvat. It always felt like an interrogation whenever someone asked but it never ended badly.
Still didn't make your embarrassment or second hand embarrassment feel any less when the time came.
The second hurdle was the clothes. Everyone was playing games in your house, late at night too...so the only clothes you all had were the ones on your back. And it especially didn't help that everyone was in sleepwear.
So many hurdles came, one after another. Next came how would you even earn mora? Or where to even get shelter. Or get anything at all. It was stressful every time, almost made you regret playing Genshin at all.
If you didn't play the game you wouldn't be here obviously.
Yet your friends always made it better. Everyone was suffering together, sometimes you could even forget about the stress and just let loose.
You weren't alone here.
Your friends were always here, alongside you.
...
3 months has now passed. Things were getting a bit more settled in. You all had mora, you all had clothes, you all could speak certain languages of Teyvat, hell some of you even were getting the hang of using weapons without having visions.
You all had essentially turned into wandering travelers. Everyone would go on a trip to see favorite characters or take pictures at certain places.
Yet...everyone had a mutual agreement, one rule;
No one gets involved in the main story, not before the Traveler comes along.
None of you wanted to ruin the timeline of events that was meant to happen...and definitely no one wanted to be in the Traveler's place before they came. Violence was guaranteed for that journey and certainly no one was ready.
Physically or mentally prepared.
Just no.
As a result because of this rule, this meant that no one could try to be friends with anyone in the main cast...or anyone who would be big to the Archon Quests.
Still that didn't stop some of you from staring at said characters from afar, giggling like schoolgirls...
Walking around for the entire day was definitely not something your feet were used to. Only now that the sun had set did everyone start feeling hungry. Your feet were practically killing you right now...all you wanted was just to sit down and eat. The line at Wanmin Restaurant was finally beginning to die down as you got closer to the front, [F2/N] impatiently moved around, not being able to stay still.
While you, [F2/N] and [F3/N] had promised to stay in line for the Wanmin Restaurant-- [F1/N] was busy running off to Bubu Pharmacy to get more painkilling medicine for the road.
"Shame that there is no ibuprofen here." You jokingly whispered in English to [F2/N], god your stomach and your feet are killing you right now. Your friend snorted as they leaned down, also trying to whisper, "or a CVS Pharmacy..."
"Or Youtube,"
"Nor Doordash..."
"OKAY-" You raised your voice in sharp annoyance, immediately catching yourself as you realized not only how loud you got...but also you were speaking your native tongue. [F2/N] already had their face buried in their palm, clearly trying to not look obvious while trying so hard not to laugh. Quickly you switched to Liyue's language.
"Don't even start going there, you're making me remember I have a home somewhere else." You ended the sentence with a small laugh, trying to hide your embarrassment from the looks people gave you just now. "I thought you started it though..." You could practically hear the smile in [F2/N]'s voice.
You could really only sigh in response.
Yet...when you turned your head over once again to continue talking to [F2/N]...you noticed something.
[F3/N]...they weren't in the line with you and [F2/N] anymore.
"Wait...[F2/N], where is [F3/N]?" Soon the both of you were left in bewilderment, trying to see if [F3/N] had ran off somewhere due to impatience or boredom. As your head quickly scanned over the roads and nearby stores...you spotted them.
They were walking further and further away yet it was slow, as if they were attempting to be sneaky. Going up the slope, it dawns upon you what they're trying to do. All you can do is put a hand over your forehead.
"Hold on [F2/N], I see them...just wait here."
You left the line, dashing over the tiled path just to follow behind your not-so-sneaky friend...even almost accidentally run into a civilian. As you continued to follow [F3/N] from behind...sure enough your assumptions were beginning to look likely as they slowly began to inch to where the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor would be. As they reached the corner and hid themselves behind a building, only then in that moment did you run over and tap your friend on the shoulder.
With a yelp, they swiftly turned around to face you-- the surprise on their face melting away into annoyance as they saw you.
"[Name]??? Why are you here? Why aren't you with [F2/N]?"
"I could ask the same for you...? Where are you going?"
The most that [F3/N] could do was point to the Parlor behind the corner. As you gazed upon their shoulder, your lips moved upwards to a grin as you realized you were absolutely right. In front of the Parlor you could clearly see Hu Tao having a private discussion with Zhongli. With the Geo Archon's back was towards you both...it was obvious that [F3/N] thought it was a good idea to observe him from afar. After all if he didn't notice then [F3/N] wasn't there.
If it isn't there then it isn't happening...so they say.
"[F3/N]...remember we can't get involved yet, unless you want the Fatui on our asses." They could only roll their eyes, "It's not like he noticed...plus it was only going to be a minute or two."
"Sure buddy...sure...annnnnnd time to go." With that, you grabbed your friend by the jacket and began to drag them back to Wanmin. You could have sworn your friend said "I know who you really are Geo man..." under their breath but you didn't bother asking as you both began to return to the main plaza.
...
The best of your years. The absolute best of them.
That moment was 4 years ago, almost 5.
It feels almost bittersweet now as you clutched the pillow tighter, closer to your chest. Your head laid on the wooden floor as if it carried the weight of everything gone wrong from the previous years. The entire room was saturated in darkness from the curtains and your knees were getting raw from kneeling on them for too long.
Who are you even kneeling to...? It's not like the Archons can help you.
No one can help you like this.
Not that you are this alone now.

AAAAAAAA this is my first fanfic idk if it's written good. Y'all let me know. Constructive criticism is appreciated! Idk when I'll write the next chapter but it will come eventually.
Anyways gotta go for Artfight byeee
I have been thinking about this S.A.G.A.U (Self Aware Genshin Alternate Universe) concept for days now so imma just rant it on here.
So one day the Reader (or [Name]) is suddenly isekaied to Genshin's universe-- HOWEVER: They didn't come alone and actually came with some of their friends (who also played alongside them) AND this is a few years before the Traveler and Paimon come along to Mondstadt.
For the first few months everything is happy and dandy because everyone is giggling and fooling around, no one is taking anything seriously and is just playing along. Maybe the Reader and their friends go and learn Teyvat's languages while watching popular characters from afar but otherwise don't get involved in the main story. Until things go completely south...
Due to whatever reasons, by the end of five years in Teyvat, only the Reader is left. Now traumatized and feeling extremely alone, the Reader completely hides away from the rest of the world. Even when news of the Traveler starts coming along and is spreading across Teyvat, the Reader completely stays out of anything involving the major story. No one knew that there was a second descender in Teyvat, especially one that was hiding for 5-6+ years until...the Reader finally cracks. They believe that the Traveler might hold potential answers to returning home so they begin to develop a plan.
So when the Traveler finally makes it to Fontaine, the Reader becomes one of the antagonists to the Traveler in the A.Q (not villain but antagonistic role). At some point in the story the Reader's status as a Descender becomes revealed and now everyone gets eyes on them too because the Readers knows way more about the world than even the Traveler.
I'm lowkey thinking about writing a fic for this but I don't know wow. What is this idea haha let me know if this is a good idea enough to write about.
