More than a feeling

I am Gia Thompson, I am 29 and I have my BA in Finance and take care of the money side to Evans Co Construction. I am also very much involved so sorry guys but I am taken.

Gia had noticed that Sam was awfully quiet as he drove her home, she could see that there was something on Sam’s mind, and a part of her wondered if she had something to worry about or rather someone. It was no secret to her how Sam felt about Mercedes, even if he says that it was just as a friend. She glanced down to the beautiful engagement ring on her finger, she still remember everything about how Sam asked her. They had only been dating for 9 months so color her shocked when awoke from a Nap seeing Sam down on one knee with the ring. There was no hesitation, even if afterwards she wondered if they were rushing. Truth be told she loved Sam from the moment they started working together, he was so sweet and caring and he made it easily to love him. But he always made it easy to worry about him. As he pulled up to her place she turned toward him. “You wanna come in?”

Mercedes bit her bottom lip, in order to stop herself from making an even bigger fool of herself. She watched Sam hug Gia and talk about their wedding and she forced a smile on her face. “You guys make a very cute couple.” she forced. “Sam, she’s beautiful, and I am sure just as smart. I can uh check my schedule and see if I can make it. If you both will excuse me I really should be going. Sam it was good seeing you again. Gia, nice to meet you.” She nodded politely before turning and heading right for the door. She needed to get away, needed to stop herself from feeling like a complete idiot. Tears streamed down her face as she made her way out of the restaurant, it was then she realized that she didn’t drive there, Sam did. There was no way she was going back in there so she turned on her heels and started to long walk home.

Gia glanced over to Mercedes and nodded. “I know its last minute but we weren’t sure you were going to be back before the Wedding.” She nodded as Mercedes spoke and Gabe walked away. “It was a pleasure to meet you too. I hope we can hang out more, I would love to get to know you.” Mercedes left and she turned towards Sam. “So I made us reservations for dinner tonight, but I have to get to that meeting iwth Gabe. So see you later?” She didn’t wait for Sam to answer she just kissed him again then headed for Gabe.

Sam looked as if he swallowed a frog and Gabe was loving every moment of it. He found it particularly hard not to burst into laughter after being joined by Gia, Sam’s finance. “Well, I guess there’s no need little brother. Cats out the bag now.” He teased with a quirk of his brow and devilish grin. Though he found Sam’s pathetic face simply hilarious, it was a quite different feeling when adverting his attention back to Mercedes. The woman’s lips quivered for but a second but he caught it. Suddenly he didn’t feel much like laughing. “Well, Mercedes, Sam … Gia, I have a meeting to attend. Gia I’ll see you at the table.” He shoved his hands into his pocket and gave Mercedes a small smile “Always good to see you, Cedes.” Gabe finished as he turned to walk away. 

He was a dead man. A dead confused man. Gia approached the table and Sam’s jaw dropped impossibly lower. “Gia! Hey, yeah that’s cool. I’m so happy to hear that.” Sam stood to embrace the woman. “Baby this is my -uh Mercedes Jones. My best friend.” His voice dropped a bit.“Mercedes, um I was going to tell you under better circumstances but, I’m getting married.” He looked up to Gia and cleared his throat. “We’re getting married. That’s the other reason I’m back.” Sam loosened his tie and glared his eyes at a departing Gabe. “We would love for you to come.”

Gia glanced at the woman and nodded. “So this is your best friend? I have heard a lot about you from both Sam and Gabe.” She smiled widely. “Sam come on you wanted to ask her to be your best man well best woman remember? I swear his mind is in the clouds sometimes, but we would love for you to come like he said, his wedding party isn’t really that functional so having a women there to whip them into shape would be great.” She turned her attention to Sam. “You also need to get fitted for your tux...oh Mercedes you would probably want to wear a dress and not a tux but if you feel more comfortable in one I say you go girl, be proud for who you are.”

Mercedes stared at Sam, waiting for him to say something, anything. She pulled back but before she could say anything else, she heard someone call her name. Turning to see Gabe, she allowed him to help her up. She hugged him pulling away so she could get a hood look at him. “Look at you, think you got cuter with age. And yeah I was picking up some things at the house when I saw Sam.” She turned towards Sam fully. “News? If its your business then he told me.”

Sam’s eyes grew wide with every word Gabe spoke. It wasn’t like he hadn’t planned to tell her, he did. But seeing her so soon and taking in that scent that he missed so much and that kiss… He was now more confused than anything. Sam sunk into his chair and placed two fingers on his temples. “Gabe stop, I haven’t told her yet.” He looked at Mercedes then back at his brother. “Mercedes…”

Gia grabbed the papers from her car, she wanted to get the papers to Gabe and then find Sam, she had some news about the wedding. Walking into the restaurant she didn’t see him. Walking further in she saw Gabe standing next to a woman who looked familiar and Sam sitting in a booth. Walking over to them she smiled brightly. “Gabe! There you are, I thought you were waiting at the Bar.” She moved to stand next to Sam and bent down kissing him. “Baby! I am so glad you were here. I have great news we got the reception hall! The other couple bailed out so its all ours.” Looking over to the women next to Gabe she smiled. “I am so sorry you must think I am so rude. I am Gia, Sam’s Fiance’.”
