For and ever. The words were several pages apart, separated and surrounded by a sea of black. Not only that, but the word ever had been altered, part of a larger word, the for- preceding it blotted carefully out, which meant Victor was not trying to piece together the word forever from the text. He clearly wanted it to be two separate words. Distinct. For. Ever.

because beneath my apprehension is the stronger, deeply ingrained need to be liked. to be accepted. to be forgiven. to be recognized as good. i'll do anything to redeem myself.

I am so done with white author retconing their characters to make them poc. S//JM, LeighB, Victoria Ave//yard and others. Like if you wanted a diverse cast you should have written that in the first place. Also if you want poc characters just introduce new character and make them poc.
Definitely! Rep is always welcome, but it would mean so much more if it was done right and was actually intended all along. And I think authors should also consider the fact that retconning diversity is actually hurtful, in some ways, because it goes to show that they didn’t think the rep was important enough until they got called out for lack of it.

later, we lay on the riverbank, learning the lines of each other’s bodies anew. this, and this and this. we were like gods at the dawning of the world, and our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but the other.
sometimes I think the difference between an actress and a star is that the star feels comfortable being the very thing the world wants her to be.

A long time ago, Roma had told Juliette that her anger was like a cold diamond. It was something she could swallow smoothly, something to be placed upon other people, gliding along their skin in glitter and glamour before they realized far too late that the diamond had sliced them into pieces. He had admired her for it. Mostly because his own anger was the precise opposite—an uncontrollable wave of fire that knew no subtlety. — these violent delights by @chloegong
