Past two days have been the hottest on record. 37 deg Celsius. Climate change is real, guys.

Used small muffin cases that fit in the muffin pans but produces smaller muffins. It yields 17 muffins. I suppose if I have used regular / medium sized ones, it would yield exactly 12 muffins.

Also added dark chocolate chunks. About 100g.

Cluttered

In my head and as well as home.

Told my husband that I think we are materialistic. There are so many thing at every corner of our house and it’s getting to me. I am gonna try and limit my Amazon purchases and only stick to the necessities.

We were at ikea yesterday and I bought boxes to put the little ones winter autumn clothes away. Haven’t done that completely but I did put some in them already.

Need to declutter. Pronto.

Travel with Babies & Toddlers in a nutshell

• Always have local emergency number ready in your head

• No backpacks for the kids unless they are willing to carry it themselves

• babies always need extra clothes

• consider bringing a really compact stroller because some airport security will put them through the x-ray machine. Ours was the baby jogger city mini GT and we had to remove the wheels before putting it through.

Or... you could check in the stroller at the counter already.

Tried this and while I loved how the vanilla cake turned out, I can’t help but think it’s a little too high/ much for the cake. It was also a little too high in the middle so the cream/ pudding / cake layers were not even. I probably should have slice a bit of the cake on top to level it.

My pudding was a mess but I saved it by pushing it through a sieve to make it look more appetizing.

I searched another strawberry cake recipe on the same website and found another recipe which produces the kind of strawberry cake that the bakery nearby sells.

This is how my cake turned out:

I added sugared hazelnut bits on the edges and also an extra layer of cream. Hubby loved it.

2 young kids

My son skipped daycare and stayed home because hubby thought he was not fit earlier this morning.

I’d wished I didn’t tell him the night before that if he thinks E looks poorly the next morning, to let me know and let him stay at home.

I suppose he must have planted it in his head and let it grow to be a tree because somehow he thought a jumping, hyper E was not for enough to go to daycare.

He defended his thoughts to me by saying,” he wanted to cuddle up to me during breakfast and was super quiet.”

Little did he know, the little guy was just not keen to go to daycare in the first place.

Anyway, the day went well until I found out he lied to me about not having pooped. This in itself is a whole other chapter.

Then I was miffed. Pissed.

We went out to the garden after a short walk and met the neighbor who said,” enjoy them while they’re little. They grow up so fast.”

Exhausted me had an instant sense of guilt. Mostly because I was internally complaining about what a pain in the butt these two were to me the entire morning.

But I stumbled upon this website (theparentcue.org) and I am so glad that I don’t have to feel guilty all the time. It’s hard to raise young kids and yes, they do grow up fast and yes, I will miss these moments in the future but future me, will most likely forget the exhaustion of tending to the older kid million requests while I was trying to figure out how I can put this little one to sleep whilst planning when to cook lunch.

Weekends as a mummy

Are the worst. I am hiding out in the bathroom, escaping my clingy 5 month old and “constant-mummy-help-me” 3 year old. My husband is surfing the net on the couch. Soon, I have to make dinner while entertaining one, if not two, kid.

Weekends right now are the worst.

Of swaddling. Last night I only let one hand out and she slept ok. Gonna try it for naps.

MMR

Finally got my second round of mmr shots after little one got hers three weeks ago.

*edited (11.04.19) so she didn’t have any MMR shots. What she had was polio shots. She won’t have the mmr shots until she turns 1. I have read online that it doesn’t affect babies when breastfeeding despite what my house doctor said so let’s see.

For the first time

E did not want to stand on the glider board as we headed towards the train station. He said with so much certainty in his voice, “I want to walk, Mama.”

Oh and he started saying, “Not exactly.”

Leap 3

Is in full swing. She has been waking up an hour earlier every day and is calm whenever I hold her. I didn’t bother using the ergo so my arms and back hurt. Can’t get much done especially when hubby has been home last two days and the older one was home on Thursday as he had his u7 check up. It doesn’t help that her coughs have been waking her up, too.

She has also been napping for shorter duration and her 3 hour stretch of sleep is gone now. She would wake up an hour after and then two hours after and when I joined her in bed, it’s even worse.

I need to get her to sleep on her own somehow. On the other hand, I feel like she really needs the closeness.

Update

Cried twice 10:45 and 00:10 after coughing. Ugh 😑

Put her down at 8 sharp and she dozed off only to awake up again 15 mins later. She didn’t cry but was whining a little bit, even “chatting”. She has been chatty all day and it’s so cute to hear her teeny tiny voice!

It’s 9:09 and she dozed off again but I figured she is gonna wake up again in 15 minutes so I will stay for another 15 and hopefully sneak away for a shower!

This morning went well. She woke up at 8, her brother refused to get out of bed so I let him stay. I nursed her while having breakfast sand around 8:45 took her to bed (told E as well before I left) and nursed her to sleep. Went up around 9 and big brother was already waiting for me. For some strange reason unknown to me, he hid in a corner right next to the main door.

Today was ok with the two of them. E took a while to nap in the afternoon but slept for 2 hours. J on the other hand, napped for a mere 15 mins only to sleep again an hour later, for about 1.5 hours.
