Hi! I’m Therese and I’m so excited to be joining the team as an intern! I’m from Pittsburgh, PA and just graduated from Fordham University in May 2026. I’ve always loved music discovery and exploring new genres. In college, I worked at a public radio station, WFUV, producing live sessions (think KEXP). I’ve directed videos with some of my favorite artists, like Japanese Breakfast, Soccer Mommy, and Peach Pit, all of which I’m super proud of. I love New York City and love getting music into more ears, so I’m hoping to continue this journey through the music industry post-grad. Thanks for having me, Girlie Action!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I’m attracted to music PR because I like generating excitement around music I enjoy listening to, and I think there will be opportunities to do that here. I’m hoping to learn how publicists research, track progress, and identify the right opportunities for artists. It would be awesome to end the internship with a strong sense of how to approach new artists looking to promote new music and grow their audiences.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

Thee Sacred Soulds at Brooklyn Steel. That was my first concert in NYC and also where I discovered Jalen N’Gonda who opened for the band solo with his guitar (then I saw Jalen live the following year. He's great).

What else do you love besides music?

The beach, Christmas, cooking, dancing, New Orleans, coffee with no sugar, photography, kayaking (even though I’m a horrible swimmer), colorful leaves in the fall, collecting fancy soaps from hotels, etc.

What is your dream job?

I’d love to find another way to continue working on live sessions because it blends live music and filmmaking. I’m also very hopeful about working in the radio world or something adjacent to it, even if it’s sales, promotions, etc. Radio is such an amazing and a still very relevant tool for music discovery!

Hey everyone! My name is Josh, and I'm very excited to be an intern at Girlie Action! I'm from South Orange, New Jersey, and currently attend Drexel University, where I am majoring in Music Industry. Music has always been, and will continue to be, a big part of my life. A few of my favorite artists are Childish Gambino, Weiland, The Outfield, Kettama, and The Chainsmokers.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

To be honest, up until recently, almost all of my time has been spent on the creative side of music. I know what it’s like to make music, and I get how artists think and how fans connect with songs. But I've realized that even the best tracks need a solid strategy behind them to actually get noticed. I want to dive into the business side of the industry and really master music marketing. I'm looking to learn how to actually build momentum for a release, understand how to reach the right audience, and run campaigns that work. I want to combine my creative instincts with real business skills so I can set myself up for a long-term career in the music industry.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

The best concert I’ve ever been to was a Travis Scott concert for the Utopia Tour, at the Prudential Center in 2024, by far. He brought so much energy to the performance; he was so engaged with the crowd and was enthusiastic the entire time. This made the concert unforgettable.

What else do you love besides music?

I love sports, spending time with friends, spending time outside in nature, backpacking, and hiking. Also reading, watching cinema, and going to organic markets and farmers' markets.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to start a music business incubator. Something that would make it easier to discover artists, as well as easier for artists to have career opportunities as musicians.

Hey y’all, I’m Ann and I am so excited to be joining Girlie Action! I was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia and graduated from Appalachian State University in December of 2024, where I got my degree in Digital Marketing with a minor in Communications. After graduation, I began writing for an independent music magazine, Melodic Magazine, where I have been able to work with some really incredible publicists and learn more about the industry. Music is something I am incredibly passionate about and it is my dream to be able to work in an environment of people who share that same passion.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I have really enjoyed the opportunity of getting to work with a lot of publicists across genres and being able to see them at work and promoting their roster has been so fun. I truly hope to learn more about this side of the music industry, as well as grow my skills in PR while promoting GA’s incredible roster.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

The best concert I’ve ever been to was Florence + The Machine at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. I have been listening to her my entire life and it was my first being able to see her live. Every song she plays feels like a spell being cast over the audience and it just transports you to a whole other world. She actually hugged me during her song “Sympathy Magic” while I was bawling my eyes out. It was truly a night I’ll never forget.

What else do you love besides music?

Being from West Virginia, I was raised within the Appalachian Mountains, so being a nature lover was sort of engrained in me from an early age. I love hiking and just sitting outside to enjoy what’s around me. Alongside that, I am a huge reader and writer, so you can often find me outside with whatever strikes my fancy at the time.

What is your dream job?

I think my dream job is something that is flexible and allows for travel — either for work or leisure. Music is my passion and I hope it is something within the industry where I can see the results of helping musicians further their careers.

Hi y’all! My name is Audrey, and I am so very excited to be interning at Girlie Action! I am a current sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin, where I am majoring in Rhetoric & Writing with a minor in Business.

I am a recording artist in Austin, and my stage name is Audrey Price (you can find my music anywhere under that name!!). While I find enjoyment creating music and sharing it with others, I am equally passionate about all of the processes that doing so requires. I lead a team of students and graduates that together help me in managing my social media, merchandise, bookings, and finances. I have experience in show and music video production roles as well. All in all, I love doing anything that relates to music, combining my creativity with my strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively promote an artist, an idea, a brand. I cannot wait to learn as much as I can during my work at GA!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

While I have had practice in working for the gain of my own music career, I am eager to gain experience in being an asset to another artist or corporation as a whole. At GA, I hope to do this and get experience in the processes that PR comprises, especially in the research-based areas that I have far less experience in. I also am looking forward to curating my PR writing skills.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

My COAT (Concert of All Time) has to be seeing Boygenius live in 2022. A massive storm came in just before the show, and it was almost cancelled. Everyone was completely drenched, but we still all needed to see our boys, of course. They came on, and as they played, a rainbow came out from beneath the clouds. Then, I died from how good the music was. It was quite the time. God bless the boys.

What else do you love besides music?

I love writing. When I was little, I would steal my dad’s computer to find essay prompts (no joke). I also rewrote an entire children’s dictionary’s terms and definitions when I was about 8. Before I was a musician, I was a writer. It’s my strongest asset and my greatest passion.

What is your dream job?

As long as music is somehow involved with my work, I will be happy :) I would love to be able to work both as a music industry professional and a musician.

Hi! I’m Yasmeen and I’m so excited to be joining Girlie Action! I was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2024, where I majored in Film & Media Studies and minored in Journalism. After school, I worked in marketing for a comedy tour promoter, which gave me a great introduction to the world of live entertainment and touring.

That being said, music has always been the constant in my life, and I really can’t picture myself working in any other industry. I’ve been playing piano and writing songs for as long as I can remember, picked up guitar in middle school, sang in a band in high school, and hosted a radio show in college. These days I’m learning to DJ and produce in my free time, which has made me even more excited to grow in this industry and be part of the work happening at GA!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I’m most excited to learn from the Girlie Action team and grow my skills in PR. While I’ve really enjoyed my experience in marketing and digital strategy, I’m eager to get hands-on experience in public relations and deepen my understanding of what goes on behind the scenes of artist promotion.

I’m also looking forward to combining my love of writing with my passion for music. In college, I wrote for several arts publications and managed the blog for my radio station, which sparked a deep interest in music journalism and promotion. Being able to advocate for artists who deserve the spotlight while learning the ins and outs of music communications and PR is exactly what excites me about this opportunity.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

The best concert I’ve been to was Masego at Portola Music Festival in San Francisco. He’s such a joy to watch on stage — his talent and love for the craft come through in every note, and I’m always a sucker for a saxophone solo. He has this rare ability to make you fall in love with songs you’ve never heard on first listen; I walked away with a whole playlist of new favorites. He also threw me a rose and a literal yam during his song “Yamz,” so maybe I’m a little biased.

What else do you love besides music?

If I’m not humming to myself or disrupting the neighborhood with my speakers, you’ll usually find me reading, writing essays, exploring different LA neighborhoods, solo traveling, or going for a run!

What is your dream job?

I don’t know exactly what my career will look like yet, but my dream job is one that’s creatively fulfilling, blends writing and music, and leaves room for travel. The world feels so vast, and while I sometimes feel the dilemma of choice, I’m happy to ride the wave and see where life takes me. A younger version of me once thought a career in music wasn’t possible, so I’m proud to be proving her wrong.

Hello everyone! My name is Kennedy, and I’m a senior at NYU studying Communications, Popular Culture, and Marketing with a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. I’m from San Francisco, CA, and am currently living in the East Village. I love approaching music in many different ways, whether it’s songwriting, music PR, or music journalism. My current favorite artists are Dijon, Love Spells, Indigo De Souza, and sweet93. I’m very excited to intern at Girlie Action!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I hope to learn more about what it’s like working in music PR through hands-on experience. I’m excited to learn from mentors and improve my skills through working on a variety of different projects. I hope this experience improves my interpersonal skills through building relationships with different media outlets and clients, as well as keep me current through learning more about new music. I really hope to challenge myself and learn as much as I can about this field!

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

The best concert that I’ve been to was when I saw Clairo perform in 2019 for her Immunity tour. This concert was especially important to me because Beabadoobee was the opener, who was also one of my favorite artists at the time, and they are such an iconic duo. This concert was super nostalgic to me since it was a prime time for bedroom pop music, and I was obsessed with the genre at the time. Clairo’s presence on stage was amazing, and the concert ended up being almost four hours long.

What else do you do besides music?

Besides music, I also love writing poetry, thrifting, Citi Biking, and exploring new spots in the city!

What is my dream job?

My dream job is to be a singer-songwriter. Making music is truly my outlet for everything, and I would love to make a career out of it, but Music PR is my other dream job. Music PR combines my interests in music, writing, and communications, which is awesome. I’m also interested in working in A&R and music management as well!

Hi! My name is Violet, I'm from Brooklyn, NY. I'm currently attending school at University of Miami Frost School of Music majoring in Music Production and Music Business. Some of my favorite artists are Elliot Smith, Juana Molina, Pinegrove and Alex G. I'm so excited to be interning at Girlie Action!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I want to learn more about what happens behind the scenes of the music industry. I want to expand my knowledge on how to correctly promote artists through social media.

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

The best concert I've been to was Adrienne Lenker's solo concert at Union Transfer. The entire room was so entranced, she is able to capture everyones attention so easily and I learned a lot from the way that she performs. Her music is also so incredible and seeing it live took it to another level.

What else do you love besides music?

I love hiking and backpacking. I did a month long backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail and one day I hope to do a year long trip. I also really like farming and if music doesn't work out I want to start a farm.

What is my dream job?

My dream job is to be a touring musician or to write music for other musicians. I love songwriting and I hope one day I can create a career out of it.

Greetings everyone! My name is Ava and I am so happy to be part of the Girlie Action team. I’m from Los Angeles, CA, and recently moved back from NYC post-grad. I graduated in 2024 from The New School with a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Religious Studies. My passions and interests range far and wide, evidently since I juggle many jobs and joys. I work at a bookstore, am the founder and station director of a freeform radio station, am the creative producer for an art magazine, and am so proud to add PR intern at Girlie Action to that list of joys! My career path may be taking some pivots from what I originally studied in school, but through art I believe we connect deeper to the world around us, and deeper to one another. Community is the basis for action!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

As mentioned, my career path is taking a pivot from my original academic focuses, but I find myself quite naturally ending up within roles involving management and PR for artists and musicians.

This experience as a Girlie Action Intern is a very exciting learning opportunity for me! I hope that through this internship, I will gain insight from professionals within the music industry and expand my primarily self-taught skill set to a more professional and well-rounded comprehension of PR and management, as well as music journalism. I hope that this experience informs my other roles outside of GA, but also opens me up to more careers and projects in the PR sphere.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

I attended Christeene’s Sinead O’Connor tribute show: The Lion, The Witch, and The Cobra, in NYC last spring. Christeene, first of all, is an artistic bomb of a person. Every time I’ve seen them perform or do anything, they command the space with such velocity and humor. I was in love with the theatrics of the performance, the costumes and set design, of course, but also the raw emotion and the meticulosity at which each song was chosen. I left that show feeling such a love and adoration for all the things Sinead O’Connor accomplished and advocated for in her lifetime, and felt a deeper understanding for her lyricism and poetry.

What else do you love besides music?

When I’m not listening to music or DJing on my radio station - I am either reading, assisting and organizing art projects, going to the movie theater, or watching the bees in the garden!

What is my dream job?

I am committed to the things and people I am passionate about, especially artists who have something important to share with the world. Making sure their message is received by as many people as possible is of the utmost importance to me. I’m not sure what my career is or will be. But my dream is to share the creations of some very smart and talented people and find a common community in it. I have many dreams for all of my projects, and running a radio station is one I unknowingly achieved. I hope to continue into the music industry in a managerial or PR position, always growing and learning new things about it all!

Hello everyone! My name is Ella and I am studying music industry business at Drexel University. Today is the first day of my final term at Drexel and I cannot wait to graduate in June! I’m originally from Allentown, PA, but Philadelphia has become “home.” When I’m not in class, you can find me DJing at local clubs and bars. In the past two years, DJing has opened the door to some amazing opportunities like opening for Lil Uzi Vert and traveling across the country for corporate gigs. I even secured a position at one of my favorite Philly clubs as a marketing associate where I help book talent, plan events, and create social media content.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

My previous internships were at music-focused marketing and PR firms, so I am excited to create content for a diverse list of clients including artists and authors. It will be interesting to see how social media strategies differ between our clients. I also want to become a social media copywriting pro during my time at Girlie Action. I believe that writing social media copywriting is a very important skill in the age of digital media and I just haven’t had enough practice.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

My favorite concert was Alex G at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. (I think it was sometime in 2017?) I went into the concert thinking his music was good, but I left thinking his music was genius. I don’t know exactly what it is about his live performances that make me feel this way, but I get the same feeling every time I leave one of his shows. I have seen him 5 or 6 times since 2017, but I can’t stress enough how life-changing the first concert was. He is just the best.

What else do you love besides music?

In my free time, I love crocheting and playing video games. The Last of Us 2 is my favorite video game of all time. If you know anything about the series, my opinion can be quite controversial. I’m just an empath, what can I say? I also recently watched The Bear in its entirety which sent me into a really intense cooking spree. My specialty dish is baked ziti. I am also a self-proclaimed cat lady. I have two cats - Leonie and Dolly - who are my little besties.

What is my dream job?

My dream job is to work at a PR or marketing agency. Sometimes I find myself watching commercials way too intensely or coming up with marketing activations for my favorite brands. PR and marketing are dream industries for someone who loves entertainment and music as much as me.

Hello everyone! My name is Jordan Budd, and I am so excited and honored to intern at Girlie Action. I am from Red Hook, New York and I recently graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a B.S. in Music Industry and B.A. in Communication: Journalism. In college, I was the Music Director of our radio station and led an interview show that featured live performances from a diverse array of local music. I also had a ton of fun while booking DIY shows at several venues and covering local music for our school paper and a blog!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

Music PR is a career path I’ve been intrigued by for a while. I am extremely interested in music, media and strategically writing about music. This seems like the perfect way to marry those passions! Furthermore, PR interests me because I think I have the passion, interest, traits and skills in order to succeed in this field.

Finally, I would love to continue growing connections within the music space within this experience. I greatly appreciate this opportunity to learn from professionals while furthering my skills in PR.

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

I’m not sure if I have a definitive “best” concert but one that always comes to mind is seeing L’Rain in summer of 2023. Her live band is a real standout and blew my expectations out of the water. The show was at Tubby’s in Kingston NY, an intimate neighborhood bar with great live underground music.

What else do you love besides music?

I love spending time with my partner, watching hockey (go Rangers), fashion, reading, going outdoors and whatever nerdy thing I can get into.

What is my dream job?

I am interested in PR, booking, concert promotion, A&R, marketing and journalism. Point blank, I would love to work in music. In particular, I am focused on working with an eclectic range of predominantly independent music.

Hi everyone! My name is Sofía (she/her) and I am so excited to be a PR intern at Girlie Action! I am from Philadelphia and I study Spanish, Music History, and Anthropology at the University of Toronto. I’m a huge fan of classical and choral music but I, of course, adore more recent artists like Lizzy McAlpine (we’re from the same town!), Laufey, Gracie Abrams, Clairo, and Matilda Mann.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I’ve always loved music and writing and hope to intertwine the two in a professional sphere. I also spent the past few months organizing a student music festival, which has taught me a few ins and outs of the music industry on a smaller scale. I'm eager to learn as much about PR in the music industry as possible through this internship!

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

One of the best concerts I've ever been to was Pink Martini with The Philadelphia Orchestra. It was one of the coolest combinations of an orchestra with multilingual jazz in a way that I didn’t know was musically possible. I remember sitting in my seat and feeling absolutely entranced by the orchestra’s seamless integration with the jazz singers.

What else do you love besides music?

I’ve always loved cooking and started a cooking club at UofT! I love making pasta from scratch and experimenting with different sauces; my current favourite is butternut squash. My favourite foods of all time are mangos, oranges, and a good bagel with cream cheese and lox.

What is my dream job?

I’m not sure what my dream job specifically is, but I do know that I would love to continue working in the music industry in any capacity. Whether that is through working for a label, a music-based consultancy or PR firm, or even a major music venue like Carnegie Hall!

Hey! My name is Sophia, and I’m very excited to start interning at Girlie Action! I grew up in Long Beach, CA. And am currently based in Seattle, WA. I just finished four years at the University of Washington studying Journalism and public interest. While at school I was a DJ at my school's radio station, worked at music festivals and venues, and interned at Kill Rock Stars and Sub Pop. Currently, I work at a record store in Seattle and organize DIY shows with friends in my free time! Lately, I’ve been super into the band @ as well as MJ Lenderman. But my desert island artists are PJ Harvey, Bad Brains, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and Pixies.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

Publicity is a big interest of mine, and although I have experience on the label side of things. I’d like to gain experience on the side of a PR/Marketing agency. I’d also like to continue to make connections with other people in the industry.

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Best concert I’ve ever been to was probably TV on The Radio at the Ohana Festival in 2017. That was also the first music festival I had ever been to! The band killed it and had great stage presence. The festival also took place on Doheny beach at the end of Summer.

What else do you love besides music?

I love film, especially campy 80s/90s movies. Expressing myself through clothing, reading, and hanging out with friends. I also like taking care of orchids!

What is my dream job?

I feel like I have a lot of plates spinning, so I’d really like to either work in music publicity, or A&R, or manage an Indie label. Or get into archival work at a place like Numero Group. There’s so much great music and talent out there and I’d love to be a part of the team that gives it a platform.

Hey everyone!! My name is Matilda (she/her) and I’m from Bloomfield, New Jersey. I am going to be a senior at Dickinson College in the fall where I’m studying History and Film and Media Studies. I am so excited and grateful to be a digital marketing intern at Girlie Action!!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I am hoping to expand my skills in graphic design and to learn more about the marketing and data analytical side of social media. I also am hoping that this internship will help me to build the necessary skills to do well in this industry as well as make it more clear as to what I would like to do after I graduate college!

What is the best concert you’ve been to?

This is a really hard question, but one of the best concerts I have been to is probably when I saw The Neighbourhood at Forest Hills Stadium in New York. I saw them in October of my freshman year of college and I had always been a big fan of their music. This was actually their second to last show before they went on hiatus which made it feel that much more special!

What else do you love besides music?

I am a BIG film and TV person. I am minoring in film at school and have always had a love for movies. I use the app Letterboxd all the time to keep track of and rate what I’ve seen. Some favorites include 500 Days of Summer, La La Land, When Harry Met Sally, and I really loved the new Dune movies!! I also love traveling, I recently studied abroad for a semester in England and was able to travel throughout Europe and the UK with some friends which was so amazing!

What is my dream job?

I would love to be able to work in either the music or film industry! Whether that is through digital marketing or Public Relations I would be happy doing either one within those industries. I am hoping that this internship will make it more clear as to what I want to focus on job-wise in the future!

Hi everyone! My name is Irving (he/him), and I’m very excited to start interning at Girlie Action! I mainly grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and then moved to New York in 2021 to attend college at Pace University in downtown Manhattan. I study marketing and advertising there, and I’ll be entering my fourth and final year in the fall. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to get some hands-on marketing experience especially at Girlie Action since I’ve always been surrounded by music, from being in marching band and small rock bands in high school to enjoying countless shows here in New York. I love lots of different music, but lately I’ve been really enjoying Yves Tumor, Ecco2k, and Alex G.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

On a larger scale, I hope to gain some real world experience that will help point me in the right direction of figuring out what I want to do in life as well as an understanding of what being in the marketing and media agency world truly has to offer. On a smaller (but no less important) level, I hope to form some great relationships with other like minded creative and media people and grow as a person through the opportunity to learn from professionals and other interns alike.

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Best concert ever was probably Vince Staples at MoPop in Detroit, 2018. MoPop is a really underrated music festival held in Detroit every year, it always has a surprisingly good lineup (right before Vince was Brockhampton, 1 month pre-Ameer drama iykyk) and 2018 was no exception. The crowd had a really good energy, I never felt like I was getting trampled to death which can be kind of common in rap concert mosh pits and Vince also performed exceptionally well. Shoutout MoPop and Vince Staples!

What else do you love besides music?

I love to read books and go to the skatepark, as well as explore New York and ride the subway to places I’ve never been. I’ve been known to draw/paint a little and I also love film photography and design. My true favorite hobby is snowboarding but I’m still trying to figure out the best way to get out of manhattan and onto the mountains in the wintertime.

What is my dream job?

My (tentative) dream job is senior designer at a creative media agency, I would love to be able to contribute directly to the media and medium that a campaign uses. I’ve always felt the strongest connection to the music and fashion industries so hopefully I'll end up somewhere there, maybe even involved in both in some way.

Hello all! My name is Tyler Roland, and I feel honored to join the ranks here at Girlie Action. I hail from Darien, Connecticut, but I just completed four years of study at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. As an English major, I hope to write for a living, but, of course, I am a huge music nerd (and an amateur musician). Some favorite artists include Elliott Smith, Bird and the Bee, and Porcupine Tree--the latter group I wrote a book about earlier this year. Once again, it's an honor to be with Girlie Action!

What to I hope to gain from this experience?

A chance to see how the sausage is made, to put it simply--I know that doesn't sound glamorous, but I admire the struggle and talent it takes to make something successful happen in the world(s) of entertainment. A lot of people that aren't privy to writing, making music, acting, and so on have the wrong impression, that it's a lot of smoke, mirrors, and magic. In the past couple of years, I've learned more about how to make, say, a book go from idea to finished first draft...and it's a lot! I hope Girlie Action will teach me more about the difficulties and expertise needed to make something a success in the world of entertainment PR, and that I can learn enough to pull it off!

Melvins, Hamden, CT if I recall correctly. Close, intense, loud.

What do I love besides music?

I'm a huge car guy! I drove a 1978 Porsche 928 for the better part of four years, in both the NYC and L.A. areas. Long before music and writing (my chief loves), cars were 'my thing.'

What is my dream job?

I know writing about music, and sustaining only off of that, is more or less impossible today, but that is my dream job! What can I say? I'd love to get a Rolling Stone cover story, or something of that ilk. Even if my day job is more mundane than that (which, I imagine, it will be), I will always have a desire to write about music as a side gig.

Hi!! My name is Carolyn (she/her), and I am so excited to be a part of the intern team at Girlie Action. I am from Brooklyn, New York, and I study English at Cornell University with a minor in Environment and Sustainability. My top genres right now are probably punk, alternative rock, and rap, and my top band of all time is Viagra Boys.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

For the past year or so, I’ve thrown DIY shows in and around Ithaca at a series of venues. It has given me a lot of hands-on knowledge about the music industry at a very small scale. I am hoping to build upon what I know in order to gain insight into the music industry on the whole, and the challenges that are faced when working with larger artists. Navigating the world of public relations is something that I want to gain experience in, and I am excited to connect with people pursuing careers in the same field as me, as well as learn from professionals in the field.

What is the best concert you've been to?

The best concert I ever went to was a JID concert at Cornell in spring of 2023. JID was such an incredible performer, and, though he was by himself, his presence filled the entire stage. What was really impressive was his knowledge of his own discography. He was able to do the concert with no setlist—every song came from an audience member. It created a real connection between us and the artist; the crowd was absolutely electrified, which I think is rare in college settings. It was really an incredible show.

What else do you love besides music?

I read a lot in my offtime, and paint when I get a chance. I am a big fan of Jennifer Egan, Ross Gay, Zadie Smith, Donna Tartt, and Kurt Vonnegut in no particular order. At school I work for a magazine as a photographer; I really enjoy the role and the creative liberties which come with it. I cook and write a lot when I’m not consumed by schoolwork.

What is my dream job?

My dream job is to work A&R at a label. I manage a few student bands right now, and I enjoy the friendship which comes with having such a close relationship with musicians, especially new musicians. A&R is the avenue through which new artists make their way to the mainstream, and subsequently shape the world of music. It is a position which requires a broad understanding of the musical climate, and it is one which I am very drawn to. I know that ultimately, in a broader capacity, I want to work in entertainment, whether that be music or film and television.

Hi!! My name is Nyla (pronounced Nay-luh) (she/her) and I am from Atlanta, Ga. I currently attend Kennesaw State University and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in public relations at the end of the summer. I am so excited for the opportunity to be apart of the Girlie Action Team!

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I hope to gain more marketing and PR experience and skills from this opportunity. Working on real projects will help me improve my media relations and content creation abilities. I've taken PR classes such as media relations and a social media class at Kennesaw State, and I'm hoping to build on the skills I've learned in those classes. I'm also excited to work with and learn from experienced professionals while also working in an industry that I love.

What is the best concert you've been to?

The best concert I have been to was the “When we all fall asleep” tour with Billie Eilish at the Chastain Amphitheater in Atlanta. That was the first concert I was allowed to go to without my parents and I was so excited for that. I went with my best friend and It was such a special concert for us because that was (still is) our favorite album by Billie. Her voice and visuals went hand in hand in creating the amazing show.

What else do you love besides music?

Besides music, I love to read. I have a Kindle that I am constantly using to read books. I also love to travel. My family is from Jamaica, so I go there at least once a year. I've also been to other places in the Caribbean, multiple states in the U.S., and I've traveled to Amsterdam. Reading and traveling are two of my biggest passions, and I enjoy exploring new places and stories.

What is my dream job?

My dream job is to work at a PR or marketing agency. I this I would enjoy the fast-paced environment of an agency and the chance to work on different projects. Working with a team to help brands connect with their audience is something I'm excited about. I hope to work in the entertainment, fashion, or travel industry because those are my main interests.
