thaddeus-karsten:
Well, at least Cole seemed content with his meal, which also made Thad happier. Perhaps some more proteins in the mortal’s body will help in his walking abilities. The ancient was still worried about it. Apparently just as much as Cole was about his very light diet. “Do I look that much unhealthy?” Thaddeus questioned innocently with a pair of risen eyebrows. “ I promise I’m not starving myself.” That would be pretty unwise of him. “But, I suppose that if meeting around a warm dinner reassures you, I would gladly share some more with you. And don’t worry about the rest. Please, go on. I like the sound of your voice.” Which was mere truth. All vampiric voices had a very polished luster that made it sound unnatural. Thaddeus had no ill thoughts about it, but he was mesmerized by how human sounded Cole’s.
Pure blue eyes turned on the outside of the restaurant once again, allowing some time for Cole to make up his choice. He wasn’t in a hurry, anyway, and liked to take in the nocturnal scenery slowly but surely setting. Besides, the vampire also needed his little moment to think about how unlike of him was it to allow anyone so close from him so quickly. But the answer was deep in the longing feeling stirring at his old and immortal heart, that became with age and solitude, harder and harder to ignore. Perhaps was it his arrival in this new city. Or that loneliness sometimes difficult to tune when one is forced to spend his life under cover. Too many precautions. Too many secrets. It had grown pretty heavy, and the freshness Cole brought in this long life was for the best. Thad didn’t need much second thoughts about it.
As the soft, hesitant voice of the man called him back to Earth, Thaddeus left the evanescent realm of his thoughts for the reality with a dreamy glaze. “Walking it is then. The night plans to be particularly clear and mild, it’s a perfect time to take a walk. If you’ll give me a minute, I’ll be right back.” He left with a gentle smile, off to pay for the both of them with the promise made at the cook and waiter, to come back soon. Back at his table, he made a point to put the chair back exactly how he had found it, dressing up in his coat. “Are we good to go? I’ll gladly offer you an arm to steady yourself.” He said with a slight bow, still hoping that the night could end without a dramatic fall on the ground.
His hands flew up, nearly knocking his glass over "no! You look amazing. Err....hot....I mean you look healthy" he lowered his hands again. "But yeah, I should make sure a few times a week, just to keep an eye on you" he grinned "be careful what you wish for, next thing you know I'll be talking your head off day and night and you'll wish you never met me."
He took the moment while Thad was gone to compose himself again, taking a few deep breaths. His heart picked right back up again when the other man returned, the way he walked and talked just really catching Cole's attention "yeah, I'm ready" he paused before getting up, reaching for Thad's arm since he had offered and all. His heart decided to thunder harder upon touching the other man, his cheeks heating as they made their way out "just to be on the safe side. Totally not taking advantage of the situation or anything."
He inhaled deeply once they made it outside, keeping close to Thaddeus "is it sad that this has been the best night of my life?"
