Update regarding this blog!
Hey! You might have noticed an absence of posts on this blog, and that is due to life taking its toll. For now, I’ll pause with this. It will probably last a week, but I can’t guarantee anything. I’m sorry for this.
Hello! I don't know a lot about your blog, and I saw the custom card of the day #250 and realized it could be worded better. Do you want this kind of feed back?
Feedback is always welcome! If I do something subpar I’d love to know it, since I’m running a one-man-show here it is doomed to have some mistakes in it. So if you see something odd about a card, or its wording, do a reply, a reblog, or an ask like this!
Thanks!
How many people entered the commander contest, and when will we see the results?
So, some of you might be wondering what has happened to my giveaway contest for a 100 subscribers. Well, here goes:
I only got one entry. It is from diamonddragon21, and while the submission was fantastic and well done, they specifically asked not to be granted any prices. This put me in a peculiar situation, as I somehow failed with the contest, and the only entry gotten was one that was for fun and not for the giveaway.
So I’ve made a choice. I’ll redo a contest, a giveaway in the same theme, but with an easier challenge, with something more at heart with the many students, workers, etc etc that follow me. A challenge to celebrate that I’ve reached 200 followers.
I’m sorry for the late delay, there will be an update post explaining some stuff in the time to come. Thanks for shown interest, and for your support! All of you!
Custom Card of the Day #251
Name: Root-Queen Color: Green Cmc: 5 Rarity: Rare Set: Tales of Aresia Set Note: Retrace Granter Role: Johnny Rare Personal Notes: While a card that might be just a bit too complicated, Root-Queen wants you to recur your cards. She wants you to look at your graveyard, see its potential, and then brake the game. I haven’t come up with any too weird combos yet, maybe you will? Art: Chris Cold - EverYoung
Custom Card of the Day #250
Name: Gifts of the People Color: Blue Cmc: 5 Rarity: Rare Set: Heroes of Immaria Set Note: Control Magic Role: Political Counterpiece, Mind Control Personal Notes: Gifts of the People can either be a very very cruel card, or one that promotes a lot of fun, all depending on who that controls it. A non-aura mind control in some cases, it turns into a large problem when letting everyone take a permanent they own, especially since they will do it in a particular order. Art: Laura Sava - Gift
Custom Card of the Day #249
Name: Mob Ruler Color: White Cmc: 2 Rarity: Common Set: Heroes of Immaria Set Note: Off Color Card Role: Off Color Personal Notes: Another simple Common, Mob Ruler works on defensive and on the offensive. I don’t think it requires much explanation, but rather a lot of thought. Art: TheRafa - ???
Custom Card of the Day #248
Name: Guardian of Kamaez Color: Green Cmc: 2 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Bear with Upside Role: Solid limited card Personal Notes: There’s always the bear with an upside, and Guardian of Kamaez is that bear for Rebellion on Ravnica. Although a very slight upside, the Guardian makes sure that lategame you can adapt (See what I did there?) to the situation a lot easier, with either getting all those +1/+1 counters on your small, evasive flier, or onto your large trampling bomb. Earlygame it is just a bear. With an upside. Art: Walter Licínio - Greek Warrior
Custom Card of the Day #247
Name: Wandering Lifesmith Color: Blue Cmc: 1 Rarity: Common Set: Heroes of Immaria Set Note: Small Creature, Flash Role: Color pair promoter, utility creature Personal Notes: 1/1s with flash for 1 isn’t too good, and apart from surprise blocking a 5/1 they aren’t really that useful. Now Wandering Lifesmith is so much more than a mere 1/1 with flash for 1. It is a combat trick, a bear with flash, a color pair promoter, but most of all it is a common that can cause political mayhem in the right hands. Whats that creature of yours worth? Oh really... Art: David Gaillet - Ryu
Custom Card of the Day #246
Name: Drain Innocence Color: White, Black Cmc: 3 Rarity: Uncommon Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Duress Variant Role: Duress and Token helper Personal Notes: I played a lot of modern before I started university, and while I mostly played off meta decks such as mill or Myr retriever combo. However I met a lot of interesting decks. One of them were the WB token deck at the local gamestore, one of the few decks that player 12 duress effects. With that in mind Orzhov got a new baby in Rebellion on Ravnica. Art: David Villegas - The Summoner
Custom Card of the Day #245
Name: Third Dawn Color: Blue Cmc: 4 Rarity: Mythic Rare Set: Tales of Aresia Set Note: Splashy Johnny Mythic Role: Johnny Card, Tournament splashy card Personal Notes: Third Dawn might just be a bit too pushed for tournament magic, but the simplicity intrigues me. So naturally for an Instant and Sorcery based set, Third Dawn had to be done. Aresia just happened to be so screwed up in power level that I didn’t notice the whole until later. Art: GaiasAngel - Hope for Dawn
Custom Card of the Day #244
Name: Stringwing Color: Green, Blue Cmc: 3 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Small Flier Role: Keyword Common, Simple Tempo card Personal Notes: Simic plays the tempo game, but it differs from Izzet in that it also likes to ramp. Stringwing is a simple flier in that it on an empty board is a 1/2 flier. While this doesn’t pass the vanilla test, with just two other creatures with +1/+1 counters on them it becomes a 3/4 flier on turn 3, which can be huge. Adapt presents a choice for the player, and works best with lots and lots of +1/+1 counters. Art: Noel Ryan - Silk Purse Flyer
Custom Card of the Day #243
Name: Ride the Change Color: Green, Blue Cmc: 2 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Combat Trick Role: Simple Hybrid Spell Personal Notes: Hybrid cards are hard to design, as they not only have to feel hybrid but they also have to match the two colors they are. Hybrid commons are even harder, and so Ride the Change is a simple card. With the Simic’s ability in Rebellion on Ravnica being adap, which can make huge creatures, an untap combat trick is just fine. Art: Lychi - Frying Fish
Custom Card of the Day #242
Name: Veila of Vallis Color: Green, Blue Cmc: 5 Rarity: Rare Set: N/A Set Note: N/A Role: Commander, Build around me card Personal Notes: Veila of Vallis came from an art piece, and is an interesting card in many regards. One of few cards that create named tokens, Veila also creates incremental card advantage, while promoting blocking of certain creatures. While she can be played as YAVG (Yet-Another-Voltron-General) she can also be used to make sure your larger creatures are blocked, or that your smaller, unblockable creatures, grant you a constant card flow. Art: Adam Danger Cook - Runecast Tracker © Sony Online Entertainment
Custom Card of the Day #241
Name: Staticscouting Color: Blue, Red Cmc: 2 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Card Draw Role: Hybrid Common Simple Effect Personal Notes: Staticscouting is simple and digs into the rather limited designspace of blue red hybrid card. Not much than that, really. Art: Josu Hernaiz - Alchemist Guy
Custom Card of the Day #240
Name: Curse of Age Color: White, Black Cmc: 2 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Lifedrain Role: Assymetrical Lifedrain Personal Notes: What happens when you combine black’s lifedrain ability with white’s ability to straight up gain life? You get a cool common that for two mere mana swings the life standings nine steps in your favor, allowing you to extort your enemies for a while more! Art: Joshua Carrenca - Soul Drain
Custom Card of the Day #239
Name: Willhem of a Thousand Songs Color: Green, White Cmc: 4 Rarity: Special Set: N/A Set Note: N/A Role: Character Showcase Personal Notes: Another one of my Dungeon World character renditions, Willhem is the party bard. A young advanturer whose lust for glory is only surpassed by his skills with his flute and voice. In game performances are followed by out of game performances, which makes it a lot more entertaining. Art: Jonas Åkerlund - Bard
Custom Card of the Day #238
Name: Reckless Fumeshaper Color: Red Cmc: 3 Rarity: Common Set: Rebellion on Ravnica Set Note: Gray Ogre w. Upside Role: Combat Strainer, Flux enabler Personal Notes: The commons are the foundation of any good magic set, and Rebellion on Ravnica respects this. Reckless Fumeshaper works both as a staple card for flux and a solid tempo play, as it allows you to cycle lands away while making combat math harder for the opponent. Art: Pablo Fernandez - Character Concept: Pyromancer Soldier
