something new
We talked for what seemed like weeks on end - the conversation flowed beautifully. We shared interests and hobbies, how we hated our jobs.
It was almost too picturesque.
I didn’t think much of it at first because I wasn’t looking for something serious. I just wanted to have fun and be single (something I haven’t done for awhile) moreover, he lived in Malaysia. I wasn’t about to get my hopes up for nothing.
Two weeks later, he told me he was going to be posted in Singapore for a week and asked If I could be a kind tour guide to take him around and show him what my beautiful country had to offer. Of course I obliged.
It was a Tuesday evening, I was late and he was early.
I tottered down the slope in my really high 4-inch heels. I was dressed like I was ready to impress. Albeit I couldn’t really manage myself in those heels.
We met at one my favourite restaurants that served casual Japanese fare. As I was walking down the slope I saw him, his hair was up and wispy, his skin was pale and creamy with spiderweb veins spread across his forearms. I couldn’t help but notice his hulking built that was wrapped in a slim fitting black polo tee matched with black Nike joggers. Boy did he look gooooood.
He stood up as I walked towards him, we hugged awkwardly and I took a whiff of his perfume, it’s was nice and clean, very Calvin Klein esque.
We talked about as much as I could remember, I was told I looked away a lot, hand over my mouth, hiding the wide, wide smile that was plastered across my cheeks. The conversation droned on and I recalled the subtle gestures, his arms tensed and flexed against the table and my body leaning toward his. Needless to say, it was a good first date. There were sparks, real electricity that was filling up the air.
When we left the restaurant our eyes flitted away from each other’s furtively, I was a skeptic because I’ve never felt like this in a long, Long while. He even held his arm out for me while I was crossing the road - a true sign of a becoming gentleman.
“I had a good night.” I said callously, right before I called for an Uber. This was after his umpteenth attempt to offer to send me home, of which I profusely declined, not wanting to make a fuss of the night (also I wasn’t sure if I could trust myself with him).
He smiled, flashing his perfect set of teeth and I think that was when I knew it could have been something.
Something new.
