A suite of physical installations grappling with community empowerment and the perceptions of art and objects in public spaces vs. museum institutions through a contemporary exploration of our body as a possibility for everything, the humble material paper and public participation.

In its entirety, the work forms an interlocking series and an ever-deepening wrestle of culture and identity and how we can change what is valued and how we value it. Through a non-verbal language that exists all on its own, gestures that soon will disappears over-arching mission is to bring breath to a community and to slow it down.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

glo is a collaborative platform striving to experiment with new ways of delivering performance experience. Founded by choreographer Lauri Stallings and production specialist Richard Carvlin, glo debuted on the campus of the High Museum of Art in July 2009. A 2012 Rome Prize nominee from the Academy of Arts for her nomadic experiments, Stallings is a 2014 awardee of the National visual art prize, Artadia. 2013 Robert Rauschenberg Foundation SEED grantees for their fearlessness, innovation and multidisciplinary approach involving 51 creators- conductors, filmmakers, hip-hop artists, sculptors, mural artists- glo is part choreography and part interactive art installation with physical experiements from Georgia's rural towns to Atlanta, from Art Basel: Miami to New York. glo is currently in development with their 2nd new creation with conductor Robert Spano to PREMIERE September 10. glo has been named Best Dance Company by Creative Loafing every year since its debut, and makes their work in a 116-year old factory space, Goodson Yard, on the Goat Farm Arts Center.

Nikki Nye and Amy Flurry co-founded Paper-Cut-Project in 2010, a collaboration based on the transformation of simple sheets of paper into dramatic silhouettes. The Atlanta-based duo forged a unique linkage of fine art and fashion that has garnered commissions by several of the world's top fashion houses and galleries including, Hermès, Cartier, Kate Spade, La Mer and Valentino. At home on the theatre of runway, in site-specific installations and editorial, the paper sculptures work across many disciplines, including their recent collaboration with the Victoria & Albert museum, a 17-piece collection of paper wigs for their Hollywood Costume exhibit. Their work has been featured in the New York Times, Selvedge, Numero, and Italian Vogue as well as in multiple books.

gestures that soon will disappear is a new suite of physical installations heightening the importance of human interaction with objects and intensely focused on the ritual of relational actions, pushing it to the forefront of a physically driven experience of dance, sculpture and storytelling. Exploring our body as a possibility for everything, the grace and nuance of the humble material paper, and elements of public participation, gestures that soon will disappear grapples with community empowerment and the perceptions of art and objects in public space vs. museum institutions. The convergence of the choreographer's life path with those of the glo performers, the artists of the collaborative Paper–Cut-Project and of the public will ultimately create a semi-uncontrollable foray of precarious dance and sculpture. We will build a happening that takes shape the moment people encounter it, inviting people to influence the work and constantly eliciting action after action, with a capacity to navigate while creating ways in and out of sociaculture. Phase I of gestures that soon will disappear, entitled "Romantic Body," takes place in 4 unexpected public places in and around Atlanta. The second phase, "Fourth Body," is a process of re-conceiving objects, ephemera, sound, video and conceptual materials into a hybrid form of choreographic exhibition for a museum. In its entirety, the work forms an interlocking series and an ever-deepening wrestle of culture and identity and how we can change what is valued and how we value it. Tanz Farm series III artist Fabien Prioville resides in Dusseldorf, and is Resident Choreographer of Tanz Haus. His work thrives in dual experimental minds, of the intersection between man and technology, and beauty as a possible force in the world, the latter a residue of his years working with German maker Pina Bausch.
