Okay i rarely post here anymore but I need to get my thoughts out on GOOD OMENS “season” THREE!!

I thought it was lit honestly. For only being given 90 minutes to convey all the storylines they wanted the creative team did wonderful.

I’m obsessed with the portrayal of Jesus. Thank goodness they didn’t cast a white man and I’m also happy he was portrayed by a young man. The unconditional kindness was perfect for the characterization of him and showing the cruelness of Heaven for simply using him as a tool rather than a feeling being. The innocence felt a bit much at points- almost too childish to the point it felt infantilizing, but it didn’t take away from the plot too much just felt slightly odd.

The storyline definitely felt kinda rushed like I was just watching the big points and ending the whole universe went rather quickly but I’ll blame that on the time limit the team had.

Lastly! The thing everyone is talking about and the fandom is so torn on: the ending. Personally I loved it.

I understand the feelings of the haters 100% though. I can see how it feels like a cop out and if it were any other show I’d feel the same. Gay relationships in media are so few and far between and when the community does get one it’s side characters, or toxic, or doomed which can be nice too but not when it’s all we get. The craving for a normal wholesome gay relationship in a show is very real so when we finally thought we achieved one and their memories get erased it feels disappointing.

If this happened in heartstopper or heated rivalry or any other gay romance focused series I’d be very mad, but as much as Good Omens is about the queer relationship between Az and Crow it’s also about the flaws in structured religion and the hypocrisy in organizations. The show was always about the ineffable husbands of course but it was also about the corruption of the corporations (heaven and hell) they were involved in. Ending the universe was a very real and honest decision made by Crowley (agreed to by Az) so they could start a new one. They had a good 6000 year long run and wish for humanity to get one too.

In my opinion there is no better ending for the series as a whole. The reincarnation was just the cherry on top to show just how it was a happy ending. They can be together now with no chains and organizations holding them back.

So yeah it would never work for any other show but this isn’t any other show. And to those mad that they didn’t kiss (lip to lip) I also get that. We don’t see gay kisses on screen enough, but again- this is an angel and a demon not humans. Kisses don’t hold the same value that just being together and having an arrangement does.

We need more normal gay love stories in shows yes. But I’m very happy with this one. All I would change is making it a full proper season.
