Red Carpet Hair Tips - Debra Messing Grace
Want to have healthy hair like Debra Messing?
Our founder, Hollywood hair stylist Billy Lowe, had the great fortune of meeting Ms. Messing and giving a light “coiffe” many moons ago. Debra Messing has always been so sweet as she is beautiful and we adore her.
So you want healthy, radiant hair like Grace? Well here’s your checklist and Hollywood production schedule:
4AM: Wakeup time. Get shaking, your car will pick you up[ in 30 minutes
4:30AM: Off you go
5AM: You’ve made it to set, a quick check in, and you’re due in hair and makeup chairs by 5:15AM
5:18AM: OK your shuttle was a few minutes delayed
5:20AM: Hair and makeup start working on you like you were a Beanie Baby needing to be re-stuffed, re-stitched, and re-connected (You’ll be in the hair and makeup trailer for a good hour and a half or two possibly and you’ll eventually head to wardrobe).
7:20AM: Walk to set, rehearse lines, Director notes, rehearse lines, Script Supervisor has some concerns, get final lines, forget what you rehearsed the week (or months) before.
And you haven’t even started “working” yet.
So there you are, the morning schedule of an actor and that doesn’t include anything that had to be done at home prior to your leaving and “heading to work.” But never fear, if you don’t have 5AM hair and makeup appointments and a full time hair stylist and makeup artist touching you up for those 12 hour days, you can still have gorgeous tresses with a few simple products and basic hair care tips.
Hollywood Hair Tips:
First: Don’t use scalding or extremely hot water on your hair. It can cause excess dryness and breakage. And of course that “rinse with cool” idea won’t even “cut it” because you’ve just scalded those tresses that were recently colored or highlighted. Take it easy.
Second: Don’t try too hard. Those California Curls and perfectly placed textured pieces don’t have to be so locked down, glued together, nor pasted in place. Hair should move; it should dance. To us, Hair Should be Glossy & Tossy.
Third: Trust your salon professional. Corrective hair color is so expensive in time and dollars and it’s just not worth it.
