Can't delete this from my watch! #pr #1/2
"Shake well. Settling is natural." Why thank you universe. I appreciate the reminder.
Check out my application to run Hood to Coast with Nuun. I push Nuun on all of my friends and have been known to sneak it into their days. It is my go to for long runs, gluten attacks and off days. Go get yourself some Nuun or at least watch my video…
Do it!

"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears or the sea" Dinesen Isak This morning brought me all three and it felt pretty darn good. #instacollage
It is Friday. Don't forget you can be a champion. :)
I actually think being a more balanced person makes a healthier, happier, and thus faster person. The question I try and ask myself when I consider whether or not to train more is what is my body craving and what is my body ready to absorb? Sometimes pushing harder is not the answer. It takes self control, confidence, and intuition to know when to train and when to rest, but when in question error on the side of being over rested.

Solo Sunday Seven...
Yesterday late in the afternoon I stood in my room and thought "I need to run, just a few..." So I grabbed my favorite shirt and leggings and laced up my planet fitness colored sneakers and stepped outside.
I had no idea what was able to happen but I told myself I would be happy just to run outside and not at the gym. I also could not remember the last time I turned on some tunes and hit the asphalt alone.
In fact, I am certain the last time I ran outside and alone was in January. I have come to look forward to group runs. They have helped me rekindle my relationship with running. I like to think group runs provide me a healthy balance and a reminder that running should never be JUST about the numbers.
As I ran last night and my iphone called out my paces. Every time I would think the phone was going to say "9:00" but it never did. I was laying down seven miles at an average of 8:20 per mile with my fastest miles being at the end of my run.
It was mind blowing. It was rejuvenating. It makes me want to go for a serious PR on April 7th. How serious?1? 5 minutes serious. The craziest thing is, I think I can actually do it.
NH Living with a side of running...
It is winter.
I can still say that for a few hours.
It is snowing.
I use to hate snow.
I use to very much dislike winter. Growing up in rural NJ, I spent my winters in a deep hibernation. My mother thought people who run outside in the winter were clinically insane. My brother, who is 4 years older than me, grew out of playing in the snow when I hit my prime. Let's face it playing the snow by yourself is only cool for so long.
Snow to me as a kid meant hot coco, movies and grown ups complaining about shoveling the drive way.
This winter, after moving up to NH, I did what the Ham-sters do. I learned to Ski. I LOVE skiing. I spent arguably more time on the slopes then I did on the asphalt.
I'm not even mad.
When I did have a weekend at home I made sure to gather friends for a "Saturday AM 10 Mile Club". We would run 10 miles no matter what adventure Friday night brought. I love that club. It is officially something I look forward too. The members always change and so does the pace and the stories shared.
So all this skiing was a major buzz kill to that marathon training I was suppose to be doing.
But regardless March 16th came. I woke up that morning in DC and toed a starting line next to one of my best friends for her first marathon. I then spent the next 4 hours and 47 minutes by her side. The first 22 miles were nothing but laughs, inside jokes, and attempts to make friends. The final miles were all heart and maybe a tiny bit of hell. I had to check my pride so many times those last miles. This was not my race. The pain that I was feeling, the "Just go faster Mary and get it over with sooner" instinct was not mine to act on. My job was to be there. My job was to be a reason to keep going, a person to share thoughts with, a person to understand her journey.
This is my favorite marathon to date. I learned so much about myself, I learned so much about the power of friendship and I learned that even with no "proper" training I can run a marathon.
It is hard to put into words the bond that you form with your running friends. It is even harder to explain the feeling you get from crossing the finish line next to a person who you cherish and whom has seen you at all stages of your being. I am so humbled and thankful for the woman who ran beside me, my best friend. She gave a new love for running. She gave me a reason to believe that miracles are possible and that there is more fuel, more magic just waiting to be found.
Go find it.
Welcome to DC. Have a pickle.
Starting my weekend out right! Can't wait to run for love this weekend!!! And yes that is an #angryorchard
