#marchmeetthemakerday4 On my desk: I don't use a desk. On past #marchmeetthemaker I have shared the state of my actual desk. I make my #gnomes on the floor of my living room. This is mostly so I can be with my kids while I work. It's also because sitting at a desk makes me feel like I am doing work. This is a picture of how I store my stuff. It is all in my living room.

#marchmeetthemakerday3 Beliefs and Values: My personal beliefs and values do make an impression on my professional life, however, I want to make this about #gnomesforyourhomes. . 🍄Customer Service:🍄 Running an online business can be difficult when you sell art because your art is only part of the picture. One of my biggest seller, and something I enjoy immensely, is making #customgnomes. This is where I get to meet my customers and allow them to become part of the process. ❤️Communication is the most important part. ❤️Ordering a custom gnome from me means developing a relationship. I strive to make your gnome perfect by sending out written and photographic communication. Many times, I am sad to be finished with a custom gnome because I feel I have made a friend. . 🍄Originality:🍄 I do a bit of searching from time to time to make sure my #gnomes are one of a kind. I make each one individually to insure each one is unique. . 🍄Perfection:🍄 I do not sell a gnome I don’t like, period. Every gnome is an individual. I take great pride in my work and make sure the artistry is at the highest standard. No glue or premade fabrics: I know this is a weird one, but there are so many gnomes out there made with fabric and glue. They are adorable, but they aren’t what my gnomes are about. To ensure a unique art piece, I hand make it all. Disclaimer: I do glue the stand to the bottom of the gnome, but the rest is felted on.

I have been pretty excited that I have managed to carve out a truly unique style to my #gnomes and am very proud of it. 🍄 The long curls are a must and for many of the gnomes I am particular about the quality. I don't like to cut wool, ever. I don't use felted locks unless that is the look intended and they have to be clean, clean, clean! . 🍄Because of this, I had to find a shop that had a consistent quality of lock. Many places offer locks that are too felted, yellowed or damaged to use. I have been getting my locks from 🐑 @homefarmwensleydales 🐑 for a couple of years now and I ❤️ them. Their sheep are bred for #wool and are ethically raised. Jayne excellent with her customers. She hand sorts and washes the locks. When I buy raw locks they are easy to clean because there's very little vegetation or grime. They always come out gleaming white. . 🍄 Another unique feature of my gnomes is that I make my own batts for the hats. I use a blending board to bring together wool, plant fibers and sparkly elements to make a fabric that's then lightly felted. I use #hopejacredesign for her fabulous hand dyed plant fiber packs. . 🍄 Because we are talking gnomes, my designs are #inspiredbynature 🍄🍄🍄Put is all together and you get a #gnomesforyourhomes #gnome🍄🍄🍄

#wip I am getting up for #autumn and #christmas if you can believe it. 🍁🎄⁠ .⁠ This little #gnome is still being finished. He is really textured do to the pinkish grey linen, rust locks and teal silk noils.
