Peter Quill had missed the entrance of the Brood. Mostly the interest of anything. The 90s was full of awesome music. HE was going through the music on a cassette tape he found. Anyway, he would have mised the action completely if a block of ceiling didn’t knock him on his ass. Lucky for him, he was fine. He was use to things hitting his head.
He ran out to see two figures chasing a brood. He knew them. They were jerks. He hated jerk creatures with ugly faces and a bad attitude. He saw a very attractive female running with blade, and another thicker female… wait. Male. That voice was too deep to be female.
He heard him say Thor. HA! Thor? What a name. He pulled out his blasters and ran over to Thor. “Hey. ” He said. He pointed his blasters at the creature. He wish he had his sword. Sword killing was also very cool. “Peter Quill here. Starlord for short! ” He shouted. “Aim for the neck. It’s the weak area!” He said to the both of them.
god, was it too much to ask for a break? at this point, jess would’ve been happy to have one evening. one stupid, normal evening where she could eat something other than a microwave meal and maybe catch up on episodes of the walking dead. so much for that. she was starting to think she might have been better off just living in her spider-suit. who needed pajamas when a good night’s sleep could always be interrupted by an army of insect-like aliens?
jessica dropped down onto the scene from a rooftop, landing with brutal grace on one of the c reatures before it could attack someone on the street. she put her hands on its – head? – and focused on the energy around her until a bright green venom blast exploded where she touched, and the creature dropped, whimpering. not dead yet.
“just. DIE!”
another brief moment of focus, so quickly an onlooker never would have realized she had . to think about it – and another venom blast, stronger, brighter – then blue alien blood splattered up like a projectile, raining over her face and chest. she grimaced, hoping that her lunch didn’t come back up. she glanced at her company and cocked her head.
“talk about luck. is anyone in new york not a hero anymore?” she nodded in greeting. “spider-woman.”
jess hit her fists together, green biolectric energy radiating around them, and moved into an offensive stance..
“shall we?”
The moment she heard another speak, she had finished killing off one of the creatures and made a face when it’s slime flung at her. Nice. Her hand was quick to wipe it off, barely listening to the supposedly God as he spoke but the name did sound familiar. Loki had a brother, didn’t he?
But the cockiness of this man had her release a quiet laugh. Oh these men, thinking so highly of themselves that everyone would just know who they are. God or not, Elektra didn’t care. Just as long as they were gonna fight with her.
“Elektra – I’m sure you heard of me,” she replied, giving the blonde a wink before glancing over at Quill. Did she stab him once? Probably.
As she was about to say something, her attention was captured by a woman making a creature’s body explode with her hands. Green blasts? Was she a witch?
Whatever she was, Elektra had to admit it was nice to have some female power on the team. If that was what they were calling this grouping.
How in the Hell did she end up in some sort of superhero group? Matthew would be amused about this. But help was help and fighting with people who possessed powers had to be a better advantage than before.
As she got into position, she nodded in response to the other woman, ready to kick some ass. “You ready, Thunder Bolt?”
@god-0f-hammers
Thor turned a little wildly, throwing the axe and watching it swing through one of the Brood, and arcing to hit a few more. It gave him a few moments to get to know the people around him. "Lord of Stars, is that you?" Thor said, his smile growing even wider when he saw the man taking off towards a creature, blasters in hand. "You are one of the Rabbit's morons! Remember me? It's Thor!" His axe came back to his hand just then. "We'll catch up later!" he shouted, before conjuring up another bolt of electricity and knocking several of the Brood down in the process.
Thor took a step back when he saw another crackle of energy off to his left, this one green. Blue was much more fierce looking, but it seemed rude to say so. He wasn't jealous or anything of the like. He knocked one Brood away with the back of his axe and gave her a gentle nod in greeting. "Welcome, my spider lady, it is good to have another ally in this battle. Quickly, do you turn into a spider? That would be greatly enjoyable."
There seemed to be more of them at every turn, that ever few Thor could throw away with his hammer, more took their place. In other times, he would have thought the battle annoyingly unwinnable, but for now he was grateful for the distraction. If his body was busy his mind could be relatively quiet. He let out a soft grunt as he sent another lick of lightening down the street, before he allowed himself to turn to the next voice speaking to him. "Wish that I had heard of you fair lady, you have a way with knives. You remind me of my brother. Not...you are much, much prettier than he is, just the..knives. Thing." He was glad another one of the brood came and he was able to knock it back away from her. Maybe the chivalry would distract from his fumbling. He chuckled loudly and lifted his axe, calling another round of thunder hailing down on the evil forced around them. "I am always ready, Knife Woman," he said with a grin, before letting the axe lift him into the air again, surveying the scene. "Lord of Stars, to your left! Spider Lady, look behind you! I have not had a battle this exciting since the Dark Elves!"

EVENT 2: OPEN STARTER FOR QUILL, JESSICA, & THOR
redelxktra:
Eyes glued to the creature standing above her, she sighed deeply. How on earth did she manage to get herself in such a position? She was mentally cursing herself for following the damn sound of something almost squawking so loud that her curiosity had to have seen what was going on. Now she stood in front of some ugly ass red creature with wings.
As much as she wanted to get back home, honestly staying back in the 90s now didn’t seem so bad.
This thing was a monster; between the long tail whipping around and octopus-like legs, she didn’t even know what the thing was. Definitely not Earth-bound for sure but yet there the damn thing was, plopped down in the middle of New York City, taking out buildings left and right.
Her instinct was to run. It had always been her entire life but as she stood there in that moment, watching a building collapse by the creature’s tail, some weird thing happened – she wanted to fight it.
Stab it more likely, repeatedly. Maybe slice it’s throat but realistically she couldn’t exactly kill this thing with her katanas and not by herself. It would be foolish. Perhaps even pathetic especially given her odds.
However, that did not stop Elektra from running towards the beast, katana in her hands.
“Alright, beasty. Let’s do this.”

Thor had been aching for a battle he could win, ever since feeling the crushing defeat following the lost of Asgard, and then the loss of the few things he'd been able to save to Thanos. Having something to fight gave him a purpose again, and this...as overwhelming as it seemed was exactly what he needed.
He'd heard of the Brood before, but hadn't had the pleasure to face them, and he stood perched on the top of one of New York's tall buildings, watching them run through the streets, creating the kind of destruction that he remembered from the Chitauri invasion. Hadn't the Avengers got in trouble for that? Thor remembered someone say something about it once, and he paused before launching himself into the fray. Maybe he shouldn't smash the monster against that skyscraper, he thought errantly before swinging the hammer side of his axe directly into it and smashing it into the skyscraper in a hail of falling glass.
"Excuse me," he said politely after, landing on the street, the concrete buckling under him a little as he landed, stepping out of the way of the woman running for another of the creatures with wicked blades out. "I like you!" he called after her, conjuring a blast of electricity and swinging his charged axe at another advancing monster. "I'm Thor, God of Thunder, King of Asgard. You must have heard of me. It will be a pleasure battling with you, my lady."

“Whoa!” Tony explained, when Thor slammed into the roof next to him, making his very carefully calibrated readings jump off the map. “Seriously? Was that absolutely necessary?”
Sighing, he gave Thor a mock glare before dissolving into a somewhat pained smile. “Hey, Point Break.”
A surge of raw emotion washed over him at the sight of his old friend - the last time he’d seen Thor, he’d been trying to persuade him not to leave Earth, right before he left scorch marks on the lawn. “Yeah, well. I’m not that easy to disappear,” he said, with a somewhat hollow laugh.
Spare his life and I will give you the stone – well, fuck you too, Strange.
“I was on Titan itself. Getting my face wiped by Thanos.”
Thor gave Tony a pleasantly confused expression and smiled brightly at him, leaning over to clap him gently on the shoulder. "What? The dramatic landing? Absolutely necessary," he said and swung Stormbreaker over one shoulder and looked out over the city, trying to pretend he knew half as much about it as Tony did.
"I still don't understand that reference Stark, but I'm going to call it a compliment." He might not have been the brightest, or the most adept at picking up Midgardian social cues, but he read that one well enough. "I had work to do," Thor said, his voice a little more serious. "I was tracking down the stones to-" He trailed off. Another failure.
"A little too late," he finally said and swallowed hard. "Your face seems fine now," he said with a small smile. "And you've been to Space now too! You and Banner, now I'll get the rest of you, can't take you to Asgard of course, it's gone now, but-" Thor stopped himself again. "I nearly had him. And when we find him, I'll kill the bastard this time."
empathiccelestial:
Mantis was surprised the next person she came into contact with would be Thor of all people but she was very happy for it. As she was very sure that he was someone one could look up to for help and she was instantly more relieved but also mostly in a little bit of shock and surprise as he touched her. His wave of emotions was strong and very electrifying. She shook her head to clear her mind from the emotions he was feeling, she could examine them later like her powers nagged her to and instead nodded. “Yes! oh, I am very happy you remembered me!”
“Um..” She starts trying to find a way to explain. “It is all very confusing, I was sure it was the end but then suddenly I felt this change in the universe, usually when I sense a change it is not so obvious I just know something is different but this felt like it spanned far beyond just from where my current point of existence.” She explained. “I woke up here on another planet than the one I remembered alive and somewhere I have never been before. I am sorry but this is the all I know from my ‘special sense’.”
"How could I forget," Thor said with a warm smile. Things were darker now than they had been for quite a long time, but seeing a familiar face that hadn't been lost to Thanos's rage was something that warmed Thor considerably. "You were the one that woke me, so I could continue to the fight." He smiled a little brighter and held up Stormbreaker. "Your noble Rabbit helped me forge this on Nidavellir. It will bring down Thanos, when I find him again. It very nearly did the job the first time."
He sighed when the woman could not give him a clear answer on where they were or what had happened, but it had been a lot to hope for. "So you do not know this place? As far as I can tell, it is Midgard. Or I suppose it may be known as Terra to you. It has many names, but it is a good place, I have friends here. Though I do not know where any of them are at the moment." He smiled again. "You do well. Come, if this is the Midgard I know, my friends can't be far off, we will find each other."

Bobbi’s brows perked, she knew Thor by sight but had yet to actual speak to the God of Thunder. Of course her experience with Sif should have made her know better then to use a pop culture idiom. God it had been a long time since she had had to deal with an Asgardian. “Don’t go to our Kansas.” She said not even trying to explain what she had meant. She pulled her phone out of her back pocket, prodding it with her fingers but nothing happened which was odd considering the battery pack Fitz had put into it to make it pretty much self sufficient. “I’m pretty sure everyone knows the Avengers, I would say I can take you to them no problem but my phone is dead.” She sighed, shoving the phone back into her pocket. “I’m guessing that comet acted like super powered EMP and anything that runs on electricity is going to be down.” She muttered mostly to herself, not sure if Thor quite grasped the fact that things ran on electricity here. Honestly Bobbi knew nothing about Asgard except what was needed during her work with Sif.
Thor couldn't help but smile just a little at that, something rakish about it. Even if he was dealing with the greatest tragedy of his long life, it was not going to stop him from charming attractive midgardians here and there. He was still Thor, after all. "Well, it seemed unkind for me to say so," he said, his smirk widening. "Does travel rely on phones here? Perhaps it is Midgard as I know it," Thor murmured. "You may be in luck, however, my lady, I have enough electricity to spare," he said lifting his eyebrows and calling on some of that energy inside, letting it crackle over his limbs for a moment. "Surely this is New York, the Avengers compound must not be far, we can go there."
agentsc13:
She was quite surprised to see the SHIELD building still standing, which really only confirmed her belief that this was not her time. This wasn’t her present, and she had no idea how to get there. But if SHIELD was still around, then they had all the equipment and information they could possibly need. And Although Sharon had never personally met Thor, she heard about him, and something about the man was enough for her to know it was him. “I don’t think diving headfirst into a fight is what we need to do now.” She replied with a small shake of her head. “And if Thanos really is behind that, it’s just another reason not to. I might not have been there when you fought him, but if you lost then, what makes you think you’ll win now? We don’t know where he is, or where any of our other allies are. We need a battle plan.”
Thor clenched his jaw and felt his fingers flexing, still missing his hammer, even if Stormbreaker was in many ways a superior weapon. "Diving headfirst into a fight is exactly what I do," Thor said with a broken kind of smile, still doing his best to keep a brave face even if he could feel the failures of earlier percolating at the back of his head, starting to form a crushing kind of weight. "I won't lose again," he added, and there was something almost pleading in his tone. "I won't make the same mistakes, and I have the only weapon that's ever harmed him right here." He sighed after a moment. "But your caution is noted. I would like to see the other Avengers, we must collect those of us left so we can battle anew." He cocked his head to one side. “Have you seen the others? Rogers, Romanoff, Banner?”
empathiccelestial:
“Please, sir just a moment of your time…” The man Mantis had reached out to instantly at her contact shrugged her off rather aggressively and stormed off muttering to himself. All she was left was with eh feeling of disgust that had waved off the man from being touched. She would usually refrain from touching someone but no matter how loudly she spoke they all simply ignored her and she could not get information if she was being ignored. She simply wanted to know where she was and how to get back.
She tried once more without touching the next person to walk by, “Please ma’am might I trouble you for just a moment.” She was given a second glance but it was obvious her appearance bothered the woman as she just stared at her as she walked away. Sighing in defeat Mantis simply walked around with the rest of people around her looking for her comrades. “Perhaps it is my wording?” She wondered but continued on her search to find someone at least remotely interested in helping. “Excuse me, please could you tell me where I am?” She asked another person she happened to walk upon.
Thor was not someone who took defeat well, and that was something he was just starting to realize, seeing as this had been the first time he felt well and truly defeated in a very long time. Perhaps ever. And now...this was some mysticality he hadn't anticipated and one that he didn't know. It made him long for his mother, or even Loki, who had a good sense about such things.
He didn't know how to contact anyone here either, and didn't know if anyone would give him one of their cellular devices, given the strange looks he was getting from people like the didn't know who he was. "I'm the God of Thunder," he told one of them, lifting his axe as if that was explanation enough, which it honestly should have been. He stopped suddenly when he saw a familiar face. "You! I know you, fine bug lady, you are one of the noble Rabbit's Morons! It is good to see a familiar face," he said and clapped her warmly on the shoulder. "You have a special sense about you, can you tell me what is happening here?"
backfrcmspace:
“Huh, that’s interesting.”
Tony was perched on the roof of a Starbucks, half suited up as he tried to gather readings. Numbers flashed rapidly across his tinted glasses as FRIDAY chattered in his ear.
“So it is the comet? Well, tough. I’m not waiting another 1200 years for it to zip around the sun and come back.” He sighed, chewing on the inside of his cheek. “I have to get back, Pepper’s going to murder me. Unless she’s here too – FRIDAY, let me know if you pick up her biosignal, alright?”
Tapping on the holographic screen in front of him, he frowned at a new reading. “Some kind of impact zone out in front? That’s weird–” he paused as he realised that he wasn’t alone any more. “Oh, sorry,” he said. “I’m not trespassing on your roof, am I? I just needed to borrow it for a bit - I’ll return it in one piece.”
Thor found it much easier to survey the new lay of the land from the air, and while it didn't feel as freeing as sailing through the air with his hammer, Stormbreaker hadn't let him down thus far. No, the defeat had been all his poor judgement and letting his lust for vengeance cloud everything. But there would be time enough for self-flagellation later, he was sure. He took to the air, feeling the crackle of energy in his very veins before he saw a familiar figure on a rooftop.
He landed with a soft huff of breath, another lick of lightening curling out of him as the power re-solidified itself within the axe. "Midgard is nearly under my protection, I never demanded ownership," he said, a slow smile spreading over his face. "It is good to see you Stark," he said and reached over to clap him on the shoulder. "I did not see you after the battle I feared you had disappeared with the rest."
fxrstavenger:
🌟 —- ONE MINUTE HE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE A COFFEE SHOP IN MANHATTAN AND THE NEXT ALL HE SAW WAS PITCH BLACK. The minute itself didn’t last but the sky above was dark and the world he once knew was gone. Of course it took him a moment to realize this was not the same Earth he knew of. Everything about this world was different and unfamiliar despite most of the buildings have remained the same.. there was just something different. He couldn’t put finger on it but he knew he wasn’t home.
It was easier to be in fight mode than to dwell on his own misfortunes. That was something he was good at. Or so he believed. His mind immediately went to Bucky. Bucky. The only man who was left on this Earth who truly knew Steve Rogers. His best friend who he had to watch disappear right in front of him, knowing there was nothing he could do. Defeated was not a word in Cap’s vocabulary but Steve couldn’t help but think of the past, of those he let down several times. Yes, Steve knew the word defeated and he tried not to think about it as he started walking down the street.
That didn’t stop his mind though, projecting images of the past as he rounded the corner. At the sight of a payphone, his eyebrows furrow. He knew for a fact there wasn’t a payphone here. It was almost as if –
The moment he realized, Steve shoved his helmet on his head and began speaking to the mic piece, hoping that someone out there was listening.
“We went back in time.”
The loss of the battle on the fields of Wakanda had been the most crushing defeat of Thor's very long life. On the heels of everything else he'd lost over the ages, it was almost too much to bear, knowing that his family, his people, had been all but decimated. What had been worse was watching it happen to his family on Midgard as well, seeing the pain and terror on their faces. Something he might have been able to prevent if he'd just been faster. If he'd just been better...
And now there was nothing to do but wait until the fiend could be found, and then demand the vengeance that he'd been denied, and Thor was not good at waiting.
For anyone else, the appearance of the comet overhead, the sudden darkness, would have been something frightening, but Thor only saw it as a hope that the battle had come, finally, and he would have the chance to fix the mistakes of the past. Thor's eyes widened when the light dawned again and he saw subtle changes around him, though there was the comforting crackle of the mic in his ear, one of the few things he'd allowed himself to adopt of the technology here. "Rogers? Is that you? Time travel? I've always wanted to try that."
agentsc13:
Frustration was starting to grow evident on Sharon’s face. Just when she finally managed to distance herself from the Avengers and anything related to them, she found herself forced to seek their help again. Well, many people were probably just going to sit back and do nothing, but that wasn’t her. She wanted to help, and they were the best chance the world had. “What we need to do is find out what exactly happened. I did not come back here just to find people argumenting.”
The axe felt heavier in his hand than it had a few moments ago and Thor didn't completely realize why until he tried to activate the power of the bifrost. Crackles of energy, more even than Thor would have expected, but there was no connection, like the door had been locked. He clenched his teeth, and did the only thing he could think to do- try to find the few friends and allies he had left. SHIELD had been an obvious choice, but something about just being in the building was making him feel tense. Maybe just the fact that they weren't showing him in with the ease he was used to was part of it. But something else felt wrong too. Everything felt wrong these days. "I agree with the fair lady, what we should be doing is fighting. Someone is behind this. Thanos, more like as not, and I am ready for another chance to reap the vengeance I am owed."
m0rse-c0de:
“We are definitely not in Kansas anymore, Toto.” Bobbi muttered astonishment in her voice. With all her years working for S.H.I.E.L.D the girl didn’t think anything could surprise her anymore, but this was certainly a sight to behold.
"I have never been to your Kansas, and my name is Thor, but I understand the confusion," Thor replied, his voice a low rumble, the words almost offhand as he looked around. He was accustomed to traveling through space, and he knew how it felt in his bones, but this was different. "Something has changed, this isn't right," he said, looking over at the woman and frowning. "The Avengers, do you know of them? Have you seen them? I meant to head to Midgard, and I know this is that place, but it feels different."
Today, in comics news
