This is interesting as fuck…. blue is the most rarely occurring pigment on our planet. These blue morpho butterflies 🦋 do not have a single pigment of blue in their wings. The microscopic structures of their wings filter out all light except this blue you see. It’s all diffraction. There are no vertebrates on this planet (that we know of) who produce blue pigment.
