the ring. that was the turning point; when Chia Chi’s walls came down and finally felt how true Mr. Yee’s love for her had been. for such a critical scene, director ang lee commissioned the renowned french jeweler Cartier to design the 6.1 carat pink diamond ring. staying true to the time era the fillm is set in, the ring was designed and crafted in the style of the 1930s. the cartier museum in paris is currently the home to this “quail’s egg”.
